I think these testers jump the gun a little. A Topdon has been telling me to replace my battery for the past 3 years. So far it has never failed to start.
@@stevenwelchtoyota The results can vary a lot with temperature. There can be up to 100 amp difference between summer and winter on my AGM battery. My battery read 26% SOH last winter and it still started my diesel car at -10 degrees C.
So did the battery needed to be replaced or just low in charge( my bet)? Usually those start stop batteries or either EFB or AGM. Important to know when testing or you’ll get false results. My own battery is AGM and 6.5 years old. It’s rated at 680 amps but only reading 380 amps. I lost 300 amps in 6 years. But it never fails to start.
Bought one of those tester’s for my Mercedes Battery is under the passenger seat but there are battery jumpers under the hood Tested using jumpers and it showed the battery as bad Battery was new tested after removing the battery and it was good….what a project…. hope that information helps.
I cant stand the start stop bullshit and there is one thing that proved it is crap/// battery drain. Not driven enough to recover from all the engine restarts. I am a retired ford tech.

I know it looks for percentage of power

I tested it with the high dollar tester at the dealership and it said replace as well. I replaced it and solved the problem

They will likely test bad at the jumper point due to voltage drop on the wires
sounds like something i need in my tool box
It was so easy to use and did alot more than I had originally thought
