One of the best cinematic adaptions of any great literary work in my opinion! The film really captured that stark, detached, and oppressive world depicted in Orwell's work. All thanks to the crew and one of the greatest living cinemtagoraphers Roger Deakins! Thanks again for another lovely upload.

What an absolute rockstar. Such a humble guy, and in my eyes the best cinematographer to date. I think 1984 and 2049 are two of the best looking movies ever made. Got a chance to meet him at the premiere of 1917 (all these year movies) in LA and he was such a nice man. Always on the lookout for his next film.

This is why he has such respect in the community & 2 Oscars. I’m sure he doesn’t really pay much attention to the accolades. But you have to admit - he’s seen such a great gamut of experience behind the camera.

I believe he once said he didn't mind not winning oscars (he hadn't won any at the time), he was happy to make the movies he made. A true legend.

One has to wonder what the universe of 1984 would look like now. Somebody should write a book 2021.

19:22 April 4th, 1984. This was actually filmed on April 4th, 1984! Roger is right; this was a great film and one of my faves! I'm still mad at the idiot reviewers like Siskel who trashed it. But Ebert liked it.

It was haunting to me how close everything was visually to what I imagined when reading the book. It's not perfect, but I think its flaws can be attributed to the short production schedule and Burton's health at the time.

Does anybody knows which camera model they used to shoot this movie?

Arriflex BL, but in 35mm film the camera matters less to the look than the film stock and lenses. He shot on Kodak 5247 with Zeiss lenses.

Today is the 3rd of October, 2023.(i think) and we are getting closer to 1984, in the western world, you cannot say anything, without someone, somewhere, being insulted or a victim. Soon it will be thought-crime, or if you dont show the right emotion on your face, then cancelled. This is one of a few films, that benefit from a small budget, adds to the derelict miserable existence of 1984. As we all head towards a puritanical Cromwell society....

Yep, the other day it became mandatory to teach the Bible in public schools in Oklahoma. Teachers who refuse can be fired. Kids are required to read it. In time the church will replace the state and America will just become another Iran. A Christian theocracy where you will be forced to convert.
