If you want to know the truth about job corps, I will answer your questions. I am an employee who doesn't believe in lying to potential students and they should know what this program has to offer, but you should also realize the challenges of going to such a center.
thinking about going been out of school two years and struggling to get a job ugh plan on going to the military but the weight is the problem and im scared to death so my friend mentioned this and now i have to talk to my parents about it i doubt they will let me go but im about to be 21 soon need to go get out there asap lol
I went to Job Corp in Atlanta from 96 to 97 and they did not help me get a job I graduated but they never gave us info on when and where? I must say it has really changed. We could wear what we wanted. Maybe times have changed but when I was there people stole from me the first day I was there! Wish they could have helped me that way. I had to end up moving back home to SC and make my own opportunities.
I attended the place too back in 96 to 97 and you're right they don't help you find a job maybe now they do back then not so much. That does suck when people have to steal from others, I ONLY had 2 things stolen from me out of that place 1. (my mistake) a back pack I left in a classroom. 2. CD's a girl wanted the case for her CD's all she had to do ask I would had probably went and got her one from Kmart. Oh well where ever they are I hope they are staying out of trouble. I might not had gotten along with some of the girls that was mostly on their part, back then I enjoyed trying to make friends while there they didn't want to so I just left it at that. Was nice being able to wear what you want I don't think I could wear a uniform (now) if I had to redo my whole JCorps all over again. Sorry you had to move back to SC to do what you were hoping to gain from JC. Take care.
Is it really like they say it is? Or is it alot of drama? The reason I am asking is because I have read some reviews about the center and I am not going to lie they were trashing the center. I know that drama is everywhere you go. But I want to suceed that the center that they sent me to as well. If a atlanta job corps grad or current student see's this can you let me know how it really is? Thanks.
The drama depends on you if you're going to attend to learn or get into the drama trouble that do occur on campus on and off. Not going to lie and say the place is like paradise because it wasn't. There were fights between girls on and off a lot of yelling down the hallway (weekends) at night even someone went as far as pulling the fire alarm and we all had to get up (pjs or fully clothed) in the middle of the night and head outside rain or not wait for the signal to go back inside. They checked out hands for residue (from the alarm which it sprayed some kind of dye on your hand when pulled). Didn't happen very often just when someone was bored I guess. I attended back in 96 so I don't really remember a whole lot but we did get to go on trips off campus to Lake Lanier and other places. Movies and bowling were fun so was skating. But since its all changed (well the drama hasn't) since I attended the place, you might just have to attend and see for yourself. I'm sorry I wasn't much of a help.
