    How do we know if you're using genuine 3M Crystalline film? There should be a representative from 3M or an independent individual that we can trust as witness when you conducted the test. Otherwise, I'll just view it as a marketing gimmick.

    Got flexfilm 70% ceramic on windshield and it doesn’t do much to block heat. The installer said “ oh it’s because its almost clear I’ll discount installation on your next car “. I emailed this company 2 months and they never responded.

      Flexfilm has more than one ceramic product. Which one did you have installed? Are you 100% sure you got the highest level ceramic or could it have been another product?

    Hi Ralph. I want to start by saying good job on the video. Thank you again for being honest & transparent. I have a question. I don't see anywhere in Raleigh or Durham, NC where I can get the nanoflex film. I have a 2008 Acura TL, 2012 Acura MDX, & just bought a 2013 Audi AT and I want to get them all tinted with the top of the line nanoflex tint. I want the IR blocked and the maximum heat rejection. I want to start with the Acura TL with all glass including the sunroof/moonroof. Can you precut for vehicles and if so, how much, including shipping for the best nanoflex for my TL? I'm ready to buy.

    Thanks for sharing! this is a very informative video which i really appreciate.
    I have 3M Crystalline on my car which should block 99% of UV rays. However, I later learnt that the majority of the films on the market protect against UV rays up to 380 nm. What about 380-400 nm? is there a film out there that cover up to 400 nm? I really am curious coz my skin is quite sensitive to UV rays.
    Thanks!

      Glass with no tint blocks all B rays. The ozone layer blocks all C rays from reaching earth. Film only blocks A rays. Fact.

      let's start with a short botched physics tutorial. All light particles travel with pre-determined frequencies and wavelengths. Wavelengths are inversely proportional to a light's frequency, with the speed of light as the common denominator. Direct radiation exposure to light with high frequency (and inversely, low wavelength) is dangerous, for example continuous bombardment of x-rays to the body without a medium like air in between would be detrimental. UV waves have a wavelength spectrum of ~10nm to ~400nm, a wavelength range shorter than that of visible light(ROYGBIV)'s and longer than that of X-ray's. 401nm light wouldn't be UV anymore, it would be violet visible light. So a higher wavelength number in the UV spectrum does not mean more harmful UV; inversely, lower wavelength number does mean more harmful UV. But, this is not a cause for alarm because all the "more harmful" spectrum of UV light with low wavelengths are all absorbed by the earth's atmosphere, the air around you, and the glass window of your car. Tint just takes care of the rest of the "harmless" UV light range down to the 99th percentile.

    • @jimj2683
      @jimj2683 9 місяців тому

      To add to that fact: All UV rays give wrinkles and increase risk of skin cancer, but UV-B makes the skin produce vitamin D. One only needs around 10 minutes in the sun during summer (with t-shirt) to max out the vitamin-D production. UV-C is the most energy intensive and dangerous, but is the least penetrative and gets stopped by the ozone layer. UV-A is lower energy, but penetrates deeper into the skin, penetrates clouds, penetrates the atmosphere and is generally much more present year round than the two other categories. So even in the North during winter (when the sun is low, but the UV-A penetrates through the clouds and atmosphere very easily) it is advised to protect against UV-A because it is everywhere (it reflects much more than visible light, so snow and water will amplify the effect. And if just some comes into your car or house it will reflect all over and shine on you.). @@FlexFilmPlus

    What's the point of this video? A car is going to sit hours under the sun. Not 4 or 6 or 40 seconds... Let's see a video that a car sitting under the sun for 4 hours, and is 20 degree F lower than the competition. Otherwise I am not sure what this tells us. It heats up 35 seconds slower, so?? I am not affiliated with any tint maker nor do I sell tints. I am a consumer trying to get a good quality product.

    • @FlexFilmPlus
      @FlexFilmPlus  5 років тому +5

      I think you are missing the point. A yeti cooler doesn't get you drinks colder than an igloo cooler... the yeti cooler keeps the drinks cooler longer than the igloo cooler because it has more insulation. If you leave a car in the sun for 4 hours without running the air conditioning, the law of thermal equilibrium says the inside temperature will be the same as the outside temperature no matter what film you have on the glass. What our film will do is slow down heat from re radiating into the car slow enough to allow the climate control to work less maintaining the desired temperature better than the competition.

      Thanks for commenting. That is unfortunate because we had only a handful of rolls with weak glue from the end of a master roll. We have replaced the rolls for about 5 of our customers who notified. We also compensated them for the problem. Everybody wrestles with quality control from time to time with a man made product. It is unfortunate that film manufacturers lose business from it. When times are good everybody is happy but when times are bad that is when you can really see if your supplier has any empathy for you and your business. You can really test the relationship. If you ever decide to test our relationship with you, please give us that opportunity. Whatever you decide, I hope you do well.

    If the film is mounted on the inside of the windshield, and if that film absorbs the heat, isn't the heat still inside the car? If the film absorbs the heat and then conducts the heat to the materials on both sides of itself, the glass gets some of that heat and the air gets some heat. In these short tests, if the glass starts out as cool, it may take some time for the thermal mass of the glass to get up to an equilibrium temperature, and then the warm or hot glass is warming up the car by conduction rather than radiation. So the total transferrence of heat into the car needs to measure both the conduction and the radiation. I appreciate your effort to measure radiation, but after the windshield warms up in the sun for an hour, how does the car temperature change?

    • @FlexFilmPlus
      @FlexFilmPlus  5 років тому +4

      Thermal equilibrium will always win if you do not have a climate control system but we can slow down the heat that builds up in the glass that re radiates into the car so that the climate control system can work less.
      An analogy to this would be that drinks in a yeti cooler will not cool down until ice is introduced. It just that a yeti cooler is better insulated than an igloo and it takes longer for the ice to melt in the Yeti. Another example is space shuttle tiles... as the space shuttle enters Earth's atmosphere, friction creates heat which is absorbed into the tiles (similar to how heat absorbs into glass with window film on it) and slows down how it radiates. It slows it down so much that it actually keeps it from burning the astronauts. There are also other climate control features in the space shuttle which keep thermal dynamics (specifically thermal equilibrium) from winning. Simply put, ceramic film has two phases of performance which are protection and comfort. Protection simply has to do with solar energy transmission and comfort has to do with slowing down heat from re radiating inside the car. The more a non conductive ceramic coating can slow heat down, the more efficiently the climate control system can recuperate the temperature inside the car. Hope this helps.
