Lovely to see Boo in his usual happy, healthy, playful self. I like the budgie interpretation of Jenga: knock down the bricks to cause maximum mayhem!👍
Hi just a message to let you know Budgies can eat celery, but you have to be careful make sure you completely remove any leaves they are very toxic to budgies can even cause death x
@@JulieAnnEdgar-yl4nfThanks I’ll check on that more, I’ve seen mixed messages from various vets some say the leaves are good for them others say give occasionally. There always so many different views on what’s good and what’s not to give Boo has eaten the small leaves that come on the stalks with no problems for the last few years . Ill do some more research, thanks

@@Natquascape Hi if I can help I will. Just as a background Boo is the first budgie we’ve had in about 30 years. We chose him at a breeders house, he was about 12 weeks old. He was very friendly right from the start. That week of being at home with us he was sitting on our fingers and flying to us which was quite a surprise as we were expecting that to take weeks. We’re both retired so we spend most of the day talking and interacting with Boo . He’s out of his cage nearly all of the day playing and sitting with us. I guess you know about millet. To start off Boo didn’t really have the taste for it I guess the breeder never feed his birds any. But once he tried it, well that was the thing he would do almost anything to get some. I trained him to go up a ladder and down a slide for a reward of it He started to talk 12 weeks after being with us . If I can help I will Regards
@@Budgie-Boo Ah great. Our budgie (magic) is very skittish. I have moved him into the vision large cage you have for boo and he is eating, preening, and being less skittish with my hand in the cage. I am thinking of starting from scratch, as in placing my hand in the cage for 5-10 mins 5x a day (as long as he is not flying away). Then giving him millet form my hand, then getting him to feed off my hand and just sit by his cage with the door open working from home as much as I can. Thanks so much for getting in touch with me. It seems you picked budgie boo wisely. It was hard to pick a budgie as they all were doing the same thing in the cage. I really like the toys you have, where did you purchase them from please? Many thanks
@@Natquascape Hi again I think what you’re doing with your hand just keeping it still in the cage is good. Also when we first got Boo, I remember just sitting by his cage and just talking to him , it could be about anything, he used to come over and just look and appear to listen. Boo was also trying to get out of his cage he would be scratching at the clear base trying to get through .one time he got out by the food door as we were changing his feed . We were worried about getting him back into the cage but we managed to get him back in., it wasn’t long after that that he was out nearly every day for a good few hours Patience is the key, try to talk to him as mush as you can during the day . Also you can offer millet through the bars I’m sure your budgie will come over for some once he gets the taste for it. Also we have the radio on all the time Boo seems to like the noise. I used to clean his cage out twice a week at that time to get him used to it plus hovering around his cage to get him used to a routine . Below is a video of baby Boo on his first day with us and a few days later just being Boo and playing and being inquisitive ua-cam.com/video/BggjyuenQcE/v-deo.htmlsi=2LOZg2BDe5yQ5daj
Also forgot to add, we get most of Boo’s toys from charity shops , ie the letter and number blocks and the large child’s Lego type bricks. Others come from Amazon and the rope perch he balances on is from Pets at home, they also do the small balls with the bells, these are cat toys lol .
Ah great. Yes I think patience is key. It's just that our female budgie (that is gone to a friend) tamed so quick. Our male is taking while. He sat on my hand for a good while after eating from it. I've worked from home and sat next to him on my laptop when the cage door open. He has come out himself, flew to his play area. Flew a couple of laps around the living room and then went back into his cage. Was nice to see him fly and stretch his wings.
