It's been over two years since I applied, "durch erklärung" under the new 2021 law... not sure why it's taking so long

How about if your great(4x) grandpa was German and moved over to the states and password but his kids are born in the states ?

Unfortunately, under the new laws of German citizenship by descent it needs to be no more than 2nd great grandfather.

Hi Candice, thanks for your question! Both official copies and official notary copies are accepted. Non-German documents will need to be apostilled though. If you would like any assistance with your application, feel free to contact us directly here: polaron.com.au/contact-eu-services/

@@Polaron I had in my possession all of the original documents needed to establish German citizenship through descent from my grandfather. My grandparents had my father in Chicago before they became naturalized U.S. citizens, making my father German by birth.
I reviewed my case and documents with the Consulate General of Germany in Los Angeles. Interestingly, they told me that the BVA would not accept documents notarized in California (and I believe New York as well), and that having my documents translated and apostilled was unnecessary if they, the Consulate General, certified the documents (which they did for no cost).
They also provided me the correct application to complete given my case.
They reviewed and accepted my application and the copies of the documents that they certified and forwarded them to the BVA in November 2023.
They told me it can take up to 3 years for the certificate of German citizenship to be issued.
So far, I haven't had any communication from the BVA or Consulate General indicating there are questions or concerns with my application. Fingers crossed 🤞.

Hello. Very helpful video. I'm trying to find my mom's papers.
But how does it work for my wife and daughter if I qualify for German citizenship?
What is considered an average time frame to complete the process with your help vrs with out?

Hi and thanks for your enquiry!
Usually, we recommend that you get your German citizenship and once confirmed, we can look at extending this to your family members! It also takes around 2 years for citizenship.
If you would like our assistance in your journey, please email us at citizenship@polaron.com.au

Hello and thanks for your question! It can be either, it only depends when they left Germany, specifically if it was before or after 1904. For a full assessment on your eligibility, please contact us at citizenship@polaron.com.au
