As a Beginner this has the clearest video I've encountered . TY so much. I was given a new bait casting reel and to celebrate I'm going to buy a new rod tomorrow that is called a KastKing. Dont know what weight yet but I am thinking Medium. As a really short person I don't know if it makes any difference in how long the rod is. I am used to ultralight tackle for fishing for trout in brooks in NH. Fl . bass ought to be a eyeopener for sure.
Yes, I always tie my braided line straight to the reel through the holes on the spool. Always. Get a good tight knot that I never have to worry about snapping.
Yes correct except: do NOT go hole to hole threading the line on, It may cut. Go through the holes and then pass the tag end around the waist of the spool and them make your knot away from the holes so the line is not bent over the sharp edge of the hole inside the spool. Kapish?
Thanks alot I am trying braid for the first time and this was helpful 😊.. 1 question about the backing..if I tie the braid into the spool I don't have to do that right?
For those of us with big fingers, its easier to take the line, pass it through the guide and then take your spool out, pass the line through the side of the reel and tie it to the spool while its outside the reel body. I use the holes in the spool instead of going around the spool. Once the knot it tight, put the spool back in and crank the line on tight as usual.
Thank you, very helpful video!! Manage to put the braid on the same reel and I have to say looks great. A lot of to learn a head of me with my first casting setup.
I have used the holes in the reel before and never had a problem with braid, now I spooled the stealth reel up today with kastking fluorocarbon 12lb and tried to use the holes and what happened was it cut my line, the holes are to sharp so I just put it on like you did in the video, there is another video on UA-cam that shows how to put braid on without backing and it doesn't slip, I put it on both of my lews reels and have no slippage.
I just started learning to fish using baitcaster. Recently bought a Brutus Baitcasting. Need some advice here, while pulling drag, the line guide should be moving back n forth. Correct?
What’s backing? Also what’s the purpose of having a main line and the secondary line to hold it to the spool? I just bought my first baitcaster. It’s coming but doing research before I use it.
When I loaded my spool with a braided line thru the holes, the line broke when I tightened the arbor knot. I feel that the holes are sharp on the inside of the spool. I have always used a small piece of electricians tape folded of fastened to itself to make a ring. I then place this piece of tape on the center of the spool. The line will never, and I mean never, slip on the spool.
Hello! I have a question: the holes in the spool, can we directly make a knot on them? Or are they here just to make easier the fact to turn the « wire » around the spool?
ive seen some guys say to use a lube type solution on a towel then as you reel in the line is dragged through this towel. the benefit they say is a smoother cast and it removes factory residue. comments? what about the warm water trick? thx!
Hi l wanted to put a 3,5kg braid line on my baitcaster which is only 0,6 l would first put a backing on but now l have been told that the 0,6 braid is too thin and no good for the baitcaster? What do you think, thanks
Uneven spooling on my speed demon. Right side higher than left side. Any tips?other baitcaster from kastking works fine when spooling. Just speed demon.
Why do you have a backing and a main line? Does everyone do this with baitcasters or just you? This just seems unnecessary. Can't I just spool 10lb braid and be done with it? No leader just straight braid?
What the hell happened at 4:47 to 4:48? It's like you cut out a frame or two of the video - right when I was closely watching you tight the knot! Because of those missing frames, I'm not sure which way the twisting of your line went! I'll just quit at look at someone else's video. Damn!

Dude thank you for teaching me a proper uni I’ve been looking far and wide for a video like this that didn’t overwhelm me haha
Thank you. I’ve watched several videos like this and you’re the only one who showed how to tie the knots.
Thank you so much for the kind words
i always tie mine line thru the holes never had an issue and find i can get a tight spool right from the get go

With me being a " Once again newb " ( Since I haven't fished in 25 years)........this video helped a bunch! Thanks man , and happy fishing!!
Glad we could help!!!
Great vid! Now I use the KastKing Radius Line Spooler - Compact Fishing Line Spooling Tool that wasn't invented yet when you made this vid.
Great info. Just received my Royale Legend and will definitely be using this video as a reference while setting up my reel for the 1st time.
Just ordered mine today. Thank you 🙏
FIRST! Great info DEBO. This will definitely educate many new anglers. Job well done sir.
YES! I use that technique all the time on those kind of spools.
This is the most helpful video I’ve seen on this by far. Amazing job
Thank you so much for watching
This is the best video, bar none, on how to spool a baitcaster reel! Also greatly appreciate the knot tying lesson!
Glad it was helpful!
You explain that perfect for a noob like me. Love kastking gear. Thank You
Very helpful and I see where I was already making some mistakes, which certainly contributed to backlashes. Thanks!
Thank you so much!! I caught my first bass from a baitcaster!!
That’s awesome!

thanks so much!! i just got my first KK royal legend GT and managed to spool it by watching yr video haha
That’s awesome
Excellent. You really simplified it so even a beginner could do it. Thank you !!!
Tyvm Great Vid gonna go get some new higher test line now and redoe it while watching ur vid lol Thanks 😊
Thank for the tips

No just no. SMH
This video was perfect for me as a beginner!!
So happy it can help
Well for the past few yrs I use the two holes the tie off my line, so far since I've done this no issues. Each to your own style.
Thank you for watching
Thank you, very helpful video!!
Manage to put the braid on the same reel and I have to say looks great.
A lot of to learn a head of me with my first casting setup.
Thank you for your support
Thank you just spooled my baitcaster this vid really helped🙂
Awesome thanks for tuning in!

I use a Ten-X square knot to join lines, smaller, tighter stronger.
Ahhhh, I'd recognize Debo's voice anywhere! Good stuff.
Is he your best friend?😀
That kastking braided line, how good is it, never knew they made it
I use braid straight on the reel without tape and never had a problem.
Very helpful. Thank you so much.
I've always tied to the spool directly to the holes in it center it used arbour knot and good to go
Many anglers do!
Great video DEBO!!!!
Thank you for watching!
I just started learning to fish using baitcaster. Recently bought a Brutus Baitcasting. Need some advice here, while pulling drag, the line guide should be moving back n forth. Correct?
Nice job Devon.
What’s backing? Also what’s the purpose of having a main line and the secondary line to hold it to the spool? I just bought my first baitcaster. It’s coming but doing research before I use it.
Do you have to do anything with the breaks when putting the line on? Does it matter how they are set?
Tying through the holes in the spool prevents any slip and I have had zero issues with running straight braid that way.
How do you maintain a reel like this thanks
How do you get the second knot to be at center of the spool? Doesn’t it depend on where you start it and how much of the backing before the knot.
How do you know ur knot will fall in the middle of the spool when reeling in? Because the spool adjust is constant moving from left to right?? Thanks
I tied to the spool hole. Added a cut down piece of electrical tape on other side of the center hole. Should be good?
Yes, I tried to tie right to the reel spool, but the holes are not sanded and they cut the 50lb braid when pulled on after tying.
Ah...yes you should probably tie a simple overhand knot and then secure with a small piece of tape.
how much backing do you put on the reel before the main line
Great video, one of the best shown explanation of tying to your spool. I also love that both my sharky3 and assassin have braid ready spools
I've tried 2 times to tie braid straight thru the same holes on the spool but the braid ripped both times... I tried it with a kastking Brutus.
Nice job
Nice video
Thanks
Hi is this the part 2 of the first video thanks
If there are holes in your spool, they are there for a reason. I always tie thru the holes, if the reel/spool has them. Especially with braid.
and the reason is not to plug it with a knot lol
When I loaded my spool with a braided line thru the holes, the line broke when I tightened the arbor knot.
I feel that the holes are sharp on the inside of the spool. I have always used a small piece of electricians
tape folded of fastened to itself to make a ring. I then place this piece of tape on the center of the spool.
The line will never, and I mean never, slip on the spool.
Yup, sometimes that does happen good tip!
done it. million times
Thanks for watching
Hello! I have a question: the holes in the spool, can we directly make a knot on them? Or are they here just to make easier the fact to turn the « wire » around the spool?
Subliminal message at 4:15 ?
I must purchase KastKing NOW!
reminds me of a song by Suicidal Tendencies, "They're fuckin with me, subliminally" 4:15
Please guys start shipping to india officially! In India they are really expensive!
Tie to the spool, never any issues.
ive seen some guys say to use a lube type solution on a towel then as you reel in the line is dragged through this towel. the benefit they say is a smoother cast and it removes factory residue. comments? what about the warm water trick? thx!
Yep, you can do that as well!
I have tied straight to the spool and i have not had a single issue yet
Some find that to be the best way. Thanks for sharing your feedback :)
Hi l wanted to put a 3,5kg braid line on my baitcaster which is only 0,6 l would first put a backing on but now l have been told that the 0,6 braid is too thin and no good for the baitcaster? What do you think, thanks
We recommend lighter line for clear water and heavier line for dirtier water. Also, the type of fish you are targeting is a huge factor.
Hi does that mean the 0,6 can be used and is not to thin,? Thanks
@@barriewatson What is that in POUNDS?
@@KastKing about 9lb
barrie watson ok thanks, 9lb braid on a baitcater is a pretty light line to have. However it is doable just test it if you can.
When you say backing are you referring to your leader? Thanks
Backing is what goes on the reel spool first.
Is... Is that Debo?
Is the knot supposed to pull off if you tried or no
Hi there. No it’s not
Uneven spooling on my speed demon. Right side higher than left side. Any tips?other baitcaster from kastking works fine when spooling. Just speed demon.
Hi there sorry to hear! We will be glad to help you. Please contact customer service at service@eposeidon.com and our team will help you out.
What if your line doesnt come with a box ?
Debooooo...
what is backing?!
The line you put on before your main line if you choose to.
Sounds like Debo ..
Don't waste your hard earned money on fluorocarbon and braid as I did for years. This stuff is rugged and the knot strength is super strong.
did anyone else notice 1:08 ?
me envia uma carretilha para eu fazer unboxing no meu canal, obrigado
Why do you have a backing and a main line? Does everyone do this with baitcasters or just you? This just seems unnecessary. Can't I just spool 10lb braid and be done with it? No leader just straight braid?
Maybe it wasnt stated in the video but putting backing on saves your expensive line. You dont use as much.
So let me get this ! Don't spool 🧵 with straight braid ? Use a backing mono or Fluoro ? 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️😖😖😖😂😂😂
Thanks for tuning in
What the hell happened at 4:47 to 4:48? It's like you cut out a frame or two of the video - right when I was closely watching you tight the knot! Because of those missing frames, I'm not sure which way the twisting of your line went!
I'll just quit at look at someone else's video. Damn!
Hi there. Sorry about that. Thank you for watching
Debo, is that you?
Thank you for watching
Deboooooo! Lol
🇺🇸👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Kastking you straight up stole debo's video c'mon I thought you were better then that this video is legit unchanged.
Fake news
Maybe give some credit?
What the purpose of backing line
Backing is there to prevent slippage if you are using braid...and to fill up your spool with cheap line first and then put your good line on.
Really with those subliminal KK messages lol
this video didn’t help me at all
So sorry! What can we do better?
Oh my gosh this guy talks so much they have to change the channel
Makes no sense disliked
cool story wcdystfu
