Neeb still hasn't learned his lesson playing vs Maru since the GSL quarter finals. Neeb play style as protoss is a bit greedy in the early game (1-2bases), he always has more drones and less tech /army units in general. This open him up for early harass and all ins. While this style is effective vs TY or Rouge who like to play the late games.he should change them vs players like Scarlett or Maru who regconized it and abused it. Stop letting Maru bully you like this and kick his behind like you did so convincingly vs TY.
also don't forget how strong cheese is and how much more skill it takes to defend it effectively than pulling it off ;) there is so many cheesy builts where the player build much of their tech+base outside of the enemy's main instead of inside your own main, i wonder if this was the purpose of flying terran all along and no one really utilized it as much as now, or if it is just something broken in balance that makes it "the only tier 1 strategy for Terran currently". either way, I dislike proxy type play because it is boring to watch in most cases and it is way to easy to do and the rng of it's effectiveness is determined by too many factors to be "tactic" above "luck" for those tactics. generally, i dislike tactics which are a "hail marry" where if the opponents figure it out you just "auto-lose" and if they don't you just "auto-win"... think it creates a really bad gameplay (which only gets worse the worse the RL skill of the players are).
@@Erebus2075 Proxy play is very exciting; a lot of the time more exciting than the long drawn out games where the most action you see is a little harass play in the early and mid game. Offense and defense in all ins and in general regarding SC2 is like Yin and Yang; you need to have very similar skill levels to defend and attack equally. Although it may seem easy for an all in or cheese to be executed, keep in mind you also have to make sure you units aren't being picked off, make sure you put pressure on, make sure you are in a good spot to push. These mechanics all take skill and tactics and if executed incorrectly the game instantly can flip to the other side.
TY had a very similar encounter to the game 1 against Neeb as well, which did not end up well for TY. In this case, Maru's response to the double stasis mine hit was brilliant. He immediately sent his vikings to Neeb's main and airdropped widow mines in the natural at the same time, this delayed Neeb long enough to let stasis to wear off. More importantly, Neeb forgot to micro his immortal in all the diversion and mess. Even Maru set off the second mine in the process, with the immortal biting the dust and stalkers stuck in the main, the two stasis hits caused very little damage to Maru's army. Excellent decision making by Maru.
Question to GM players: Why not put a CC in the proxy, a few bunkers, another factory/starport, and really turn it into a beachhead base to bash fast into the enemy's 1 base?
proxy base have more cons than pros: 1. harder to defend when it spotted because reinforcement comes late. 2. you basically only can saturate the proxy base with the proxy cc since when you rally worker from ur main base it will be easier for the opponent to scout the proxy base. even if u rally from main base, the saturation will be slower than you put it in nearer position with ur main. Every single second is matter in starcraft. You see if Maru cant put pressure with his reaper, his weakest point is when he fly back his proxy rax and fact to his base. That means maru only will have starport unit in his base.
new interviewer is fine, however the questions should have been read a few times to avoid the staggering. i do love how bliz uses multi-language KR/Eng, seems polite and nice ^^ I am kind of supriced over how few pro-kr gamers actually speak English at a level where they are comfortable using it in general. But that's properly a bias because we don't get translated media for games here so every gamer from my country becomes quite well versed in the English language, as well as it being mandatory at schools.
Well, Terran is the only race that can proxy without committing fully, they have the options to fly their buildings back or salvage when things go south. When other race proxy its full commitment, which is why they have to choose which game or map to do proxy wisely. HAS for example proxy alot as a protoss, but when it fails its almost always gg with no little to no options to switch.
@David Johnson Erm.. im talking about proxy commitment. Of course if proxy fails you will be behind, but Terran is not automatically out. For other races, if proxy fails its almost always gg. Protoss proxy requires a pylon and production building commitment, when the rush fails, the pylon and building is considered forfeited. Terran can choose to fly its production building home, or use it to scout the enemy. This is simply Terran's natural advantage, regardless if the proxy result. Base trade wise, Terran are the best at it without a doubt. Recall only mean to bring Protoss troops back to defend. It doesn't do anything in particular to help protoss win a base trade. Terran can fly their buildings to minimize the damage taken. Terran units especially MMM are extremely mobile, they can move across the map quicker than protoss units can. If you look at the number of base trade games out there, its usually won by terrans. Not to mention in the next patch, recall radius will be reduced from 6.5 to 2.5, it will not be an effective choice for protoss to recall their units for defense if they can bring back all their units. Protoss will be forced into base trading and will more likely lose or draw against terran that can fly their buildings. I agree that every race has its own perks, terran's is with base trading, proxies and defense. Protoss is with death ball, timing attack. Zerg with macro, run by and continual aggression. Maru recognizes Terran's strength and is playing to it.
Game 1, when Neeb saw that he was up against SCVs in that attack, Neeb was trying to get a critical mass of units. I don't understand why he let his immortal go down like that. Pull the probes if you have to, but do NOT let the immortal go down! Again, Game 2, Neeb is indecisive with his probes and he does not build a second pylon at his natural! A second pylon for those shield batteries would have resulted in a hold. Even before that, I feel that Neeb should have been using probes to fight. It feels like Neeb needs more experience in proxy situations vs. top opponents like Maru.
Yes Neeb is a worse player, but Terran also has too much advantages. Fail a proxy? can still lift buildings and return like nothing happened. Protoss failed a proxy stargate? building gone, P loses.
Like it doesnt matter if u fail a proxy build, that ur 1. behind in income 2. cant make a army unit for a minute in the 1st 3 minutes of the game. I see this proxy terran builds only work very well on Maru, not even on other pro terran players… So how can u call this a Terran advantage. Same as I would say, Toss has a OP advantage can warp in a entire army on any place on the map, Its just a race skill.. SCII is still one of the best ballanced strategy games out there.

If a player isn't abusing the strongest aspects of their race they aren't playing properly tbh
If oracles 2 shot probs and drones. They should 2 shot scvs.
It was the case before, but proxy stargate was too strong, like adept don't 2 shot scv neither
scvs unlike drones or probes do not regenerate. So they should not be as easy to kill
