  • I only roast by one rule. And that rule is... No Rules!
My hot takes and predictions on all the Eurovision songs on display for you all to see. A (somewhat) roast of Eurovision this year.
The jury has been removed from the semis this year so...Yeah. RIP Dons.
I think I have thoroughly avoided investing in Ukulele lessons.

It's really nice to see the rich variety in languages we are getting his year!
Also glad Estonia even is using Estonian, furthermore with a very interesting artists (Puuluup) for they use a very niche instrument called Hiiu Kannel and their own songs are unique in style and their own use of language (check them out, they mix together Estonian, English, Russian, Finnish and other languages and listening to it is an experience to say the least).
It's clear the song had more weight placed by 5Miinust, known rap artists. Wish they had a little more influence on the song to give it an identity, but I'm glad they're getting this nonetheless!
Also Europe is finally get exposed to Estonian rap, you're welcome!

Have to say as a Swiss, I was surprised to see what kind of song we send this year. I had a feeling we wouldn't go for another ballad since they were doing worse with each passing year. "The Code" has potential for a Top 10 placing.
I think this is the year with the least amount of ballads? Have to say I really like France, it's the best ballad for me in this year's contest. Latvia's song isn't bad either, Idk why people are so harsh on it just because it's slow? Dude has a good voice imo. Germany might be a little generic but I also like the singer's voice. Likely won't leave the bottom tho.
My personal winner is The Netherlands since "Europapa" is just *the* bop to me but I really wouldn't mind Croatia winning since their song is just so entertaining. Also really vibing with Finland, Austria and Armenia.
Is it a hot take to say that Italy is alright but not a winner? Seems like everyone loves it while I'm just *shrug*.
Israel will probably won't make it to the final and reason besides politics would be that their song is just okay. Not horrible but neither really that great? They have sent better songs in the past.

    Italian here
there is Fantasanremo, which is an unofficial betting we did for fun like fantasoccer. Singers picked up on the game and so they do weird things for fantasanremo points. This year, there was a rule that wearing black would grant you 10 points every night and 20 the last night, but luckly a lot of singers ditched the damn betting the last night and chose to wear some damn color.
There's also the Eurovision version, called Fantaesc, if you are interested.

Honestly, I think it's literally all up to staging for Kaleen (We Will Rave) right now. Because we know she can dance, she's apparently a 5 time dance world champion. She can sing, as she was the stand-in for Eleni's Fuego. Fashion is up in the air as I know her mv outfit, opinion has been split down the middle. And for staging, she worked on Chanel's Slomo staging so I feel like it's literally on staging and outfit. Atp, I'm very interested to see Europapa vs We Will Rave as they're both 90's but go two different ways (quirky fun vs girly pop)

Either we’re too French, or not enough French. I think... We should take the Spanish-Portuguese route and not give a flipping f**k about what other countries think of us and send whatever we want to send, because being called mid (and finish midboard or among the last) every time is worse than being called downright terrible. Nothing iconic about this.

She‘s a nurse and helps people so we don‘t want to send someone who just stands there with a lame background and an okay voice with only „screaming“. Nothing against her, I already met her a few times, she’s very kind but I don’t like the „screaming“Tali is a great singer and brings so much joy to us Luxembourgers. We loved her performance and hope for a decent result, but I think it sounded a bit harsh when you talked about us but I respect your opinion.

I never liked The Netherlands at all and the songs that I did like, were highly hated by everyone else. Really? Hardcore at Eurovision? Bruh, even New Kids Turbo's composed track by DJ Paul Elstak was far better than this shit. This is absolute garbage, but ofcourse everyone likes it and everyone in The Netherlands is forcing you to like it (or else they want you to move out).
Croatia's song Rim Tim Tagi Dim has been my obsession since it came out in January and I hoped it would do well, so I smiled brightly when it won Dora this year. This is the first time I like Croatia, who are always a damn miss for me and the same can be applied to San Marino. And Estonia's pick is actually a great track, I love the vibes from it.

@@reddinareddika3624 That can't be what it means unless people don't know what pinkwashing is. What does pinkwashing (which is the act of marketing LGBT for purposes of distraction) has to do with Israel's eurovision entry this year? I mean, I could understand if we're talking about their 2022's since it looked like something straight out of a gay club, but this year's entry has zero to do with LGBT.
_"they came to play the victims"_
No, people have been just sleeping under a rock. Palestine has been accusing Israel of these crimes for almost 80 years. People just decided to play heros of principles because it has now become a hot trend on social media. In fact, if we give it some honest thought Israel is the one who's politicizing it the less. Personal political opinions aside, they could have thrown a tantrum over UN's voting etc and not feeling welcomed and all that blah blah blah and simply walk off. But no, they decided to put politics aside and keep up with the program.
_"The fact that other countries did it in the past doesn't mean we want that to happen now. "_
I'm sorry, but if you're talking about the whole political aspect of songs, then this is BS and hypocrisy. Most people will say that because it's Israel. Had it been Palestine in Eurovision taking a song with some political reference to their suffering everyone would clap. And nobody is being more political here than the fans trying to boycott Israel to the point some even got "on bad terms" with the Luxemburg girl for dedicating her victory to her brother who's in the IDF fighting in Gaza. Imagine if she had openly supported Israel, at this rate she would have been lynched. This is how political people are going: the girl can't dedicate her victory to her loved ones.
Tbh if people are against Israel's participation so be it, but one needs to be consistent. People can't say Eurovision isn't about politics one day only to contradict themselves whenever they feel like it.

No, I was talking about nations playing victims. And yes, even if Hamas has done HORRIBLE THINGS and this is undeniable, the situation came to this point because of Israel's behaviour towards the plaestinian inhabitants of the Gaza strip and the "west bank", so yeah, I am very sad for the 300 people that had to suffert through this and died, but I don't think one of their lives is worth 100 palestinian lives, cause that's the ratio of people Israel has killed. It's just insanity and I don't want to hear an Israeli singer excusing this behaviour with the whole "I'm suffering" spiel. That is not true. They live in skyscapers, They are rich, They have full rights as Israeli citizens, They never starve. Their participation is just propaganda and I was always consistent with this opinion, from 2015 when I started watching ESC. So yeah, don't call me inconsistent or a hypocrit, because you don't know me. And before someone calls me antis*emitist (censoring just to make sure), Believe me when I say, I never discriminate anybody, not for sexual preferences, not for gender identity, not for religion or belief or skin colour.
