Hey Terry! I’m loving the videos! Just a thought: I built my cages with the wire on the inside of the frame instead of the outside. It prevents the quail from pooping on the rails and reduces risk of bacteria. Maybe it wouldn’t matter for you, since you clean your cages so often, but it might reduce the amount of times you need to clean in a month. My cages stay sparkling clean, and I only need to wipe down the bottom wire occasionally.
Love your channel. Binge watching as I just found it. May I suggest that you pressure wash the waste catcher tray before you wash the waterers and feed trays? Couldn't help but notice them drying in the background and over spray from the pressure washing could settle and therefore contaminate them.
You might try lysol the original brown bottle. We disinfect wounds on horses and cows with very dilute mixture. To spray directly on wounds you want a light Grey mixture. My 90 year old dad has used it for 70 of those years. Pinesol cleans but doesn't disinfect.
New to the channel, stumbled on it today looking for incubator ideas and now I can’t stop watching. Thanks for the ideas. I would love to see your meat bird cage/bachelor pad as you call it. Keep up the videos.
@@CoturnixCorner No problem - the only reason I mention it is that using terms with bi can be ambiguous. For example, if something is done biweekly, it can mean twice a week or every two weeks (the more common meaning - like biweekly pay period). Whereas semiweekly would always mean twice a week. Again, different strokes for different folks. It's an oddity of the language that there is a distinction for biannual vs biennial, compared to other time periods (biweekly, bimonthly, etc).
The floor is tiled in my quail room so they slide pretty easily, I do have a set of casters that I bought months ago to put on the cages but haven't got around to it yet.
Hi Terry, thank you so much for sharing and for very informative videos, truly appreciated. However I’m wondering how often do you recommend to clean and sanitise the cages?
Have you ever tried raising quail not in cages there really is no need to keep them is such tight space. I know it’s your job but surely you would get more enjoyment out it seeing them in joy life. ?
Nice tutorial on deep cleaning your cages and walls on a semi-annual basis and some good tips on keeping your birds critter free.
Thank you
Love the way you take care of your birds. I notice before this video how clean you quail room is.

Do the quail stop laying eggs because they are moved from their coop for a while? Or are they fine.
Thanks for sharing, I can learn a lot !
Thanks for commenting!
Great video. Loved all the detail in how you clean your cages. I prefer the term semi-annual for your schedule, but that's just me. 😃
And I prefer bi-annual, but that's just me. LOL ... thanks for the comment.

Can I use vinegar instead of pinesol?
Have you ever thought about putting castor wheels with brakes on your cages? Love your channel!!
Put your odor ban in a garden pump up sprayer!

Did you go back to your "Tupperware" box feeders instead of the J-feeders? If so......why? Thanks
I use the Tupperware shoebox feeders for my growout cages and the J-feeders in my layer cages.
Hi Terry
How often do you do this total clean up?
Twice a year

I do this routine twice a year, although every three months I pressure wash all the cages too remove any manure build up.
