It needs anti-gravity on the steep bits for a start. Even if the layout didn’t change, anti-gravity sections could allow the course to at least feel a lot more fun on the long stretches since you could go upside down etc. The big change that could be made to the course layout is having 2 paths like ice ice outpost that intersect regularly; one of the paths is the one currently in the course, and the second path could be the path that the pinballs take, which would be riskier due to the pinballs but maybe also faster / have more items. Keep the end section the same though, it’s fun :)
I know antigravity probably wasn’t needed in a lot of these wave 1 and wave 2 booster course pass tracks (hell, there are arguably some cases where it wasn’t even necessary in the main game, like those walls in Toad Harbor), but Sky Garden and Waluigi Pinball look like they should have them, but they just… don’t for some reason
You know what would have been cool? If Mario Kart Tour had a Waluigi Pinball 2 where you for the two laps, you go along the 2 red pinball paths, so when the course returned in the BCP, it would have change its route in each lap like Kalimari Desert, where the first lap would be regular Waluigi Pinball, then the layout would change at the end and the last 2 laps would be based on WP2 where you go on the red rails!
I like Waluigi Pinball a lot and can see where people are coming from… but I LOVE Airship Fortress! There may not be many shortcuts at all but you can race along the edges being able to precisely cut corners if done properly to gain back a place or two. There’s also a crack around the end of the track which I find it fun to hop over for less time. It may also be nostalgia but the fact that a Mario 3 Airship theme has barely never been done ever again is kinda crazy lol.
Airship fortress is one of my favorites as well, and for those exact reasons! I love all the little optimizations you can do to save time on each race, plus the Mario 3 airships look super cool! Thanks for watching!!
@@madmonty4761 You don't have to be a wii defender to dislike waluigi pinball. There's no shortcuts at all,and the path is so linear. It's far from being a bad track, hell I think it's incredibly fun to play on. It's just incredibly over rated, just like coconut mall and maple treeway.
Waluigi Pinball was always a pretty okay course for me on the DS. I was suprised to find out that it was THIS popular! bc i never really viewed it that good!
Yknow, I never got why this course was always hyped up, but in the last 5 years or so, I’ve begun to see why - but this doesn’t mean the course is without its faults. The course is such a unique setting, unlike any other course in the series, so it gets points for that. The soundtrack is also one of the best in the series too. And there IS something to be said about more of a “skill” based track with no shortcuts. It also looks absolutely phenomenal in 8DX. I get why people don’t think it is though - no shortcuts is something that is a fair argument (though as I mentioned before I personally believe this is a plus because almost every course has a shortcut of some kind, makes this one more unique etc). Plus, specifically on the 8DX version, there was so much missed potential for anti gravity. I do feel like if they released this course in wave 3-6, it would have had it though, as the backlash after waves 1 and 2, notice how courses have started having it in now? (Boo Lake, Rainbow Road).
It would be really cool if this course had some antigrav in the middle section, especially since there are lights there that look like the antigrav section lights in the base game! Thanks for watching!!
I actually really like Waluigi Pinball, but that’s mostly because I don’t really mind the lack of shortcuts, and because I prioritize graphics and theming more than most people. The video was quite good. Of these ideas, I feel like the ending shortcut and the alternate route on the pinball paths would be the best. I feel like they would fit the most both thematically and gameplay wise. The other alternate route is fine, but I prefer the one on the pinball tracks, and I’m not the biggest fan of the two shortcuts on the green track. Still, it’s fun to think about! Great video!
It’s personally one of my favorites, but unlike others, and the likely future comments, I won’t attack you for not singing it’s praises. Everyone has different opinions, and that’s perfectly okay! My biggest issue with the 8 deluxe version is they removed the sound effect as you enter the finish line segment.
Thanks so much for being considerate of others’ opinions! So many people forget that at the end of the day we’re all able to like whichever courses we choose. Thanks for watching!!
Nah, chill, just felt the need to mention that people take the sound effect thing too seriously, especially that one guy who stated that in that comment section
I get your point. However, I like this track because it's simple, allows wild drifts, with a moderate amount of danger. Simple yet efficient. Not all tracks need a shortcut. Maybe that's the DS nostalgia in me talking lol.
I definitely can appreciate the track being more simple, but I feel like at least one alternate route would be nice to have to spice up the gameplay after playing the track for a while. Thanks for watching!!
The only problem I have is the lost ball sound is not played when you exit the table through the gutter. It is heard twice in the flyover, but not in the race? They need to put that sound back where it should be put.
Speaking as a relatively casual player, I also feel like shortcuts would help make the track less janky. I run inside-turning bikes (I’ve used them for so long that I can’t get used to anything else :U ), and a lot of those big turns feel damn near impossible to do effectively, at least in multiplayer. You either turn too early and clang into the opposite wall, or you turn too late and don’t get much use out of the drift. I just don’t have much fun when I get the track online, and off-roads/shortcuts would at least offer some leeway. I think the best way to go about adding them aesthetically would be to simply make them “maintenance” areas. The idea that the giant pinball machine actively had to be taken care of would add a lot to the setting, I feel like.
This video was extremely interesting and entertaining! I really love when videos I watch make me more interested in an aspect of something I didn’t really think about much before. You earned yourself another subscriber!
I feel like that could interrupt the gameplay a bit and be a bit tedious, unless it spit you out into a loop with coins and items that then spit you out onto the normal route. That could work pretty well! Thanks for watching!!
This footage is reused from my wave 2 review from when the track first came out, so it absolutely sucks 😂 Since then I’ve learned the track, I just didn’t bother recording new footage for this video since I already had some. Thanks for watching!!
Great video! Honestly, I agree that some shortcuts and alternate paths would spice up Waluigi Pinball. Heck, I feel a lot of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe courses could use a revamping with some additional alternate routes (that is one thing I like about a course like Ninja Hideaway where there are a few different paths to travel to the end). I do like the risk and reward factor with an alternate route on the rail where the giant pinballs could knock you off. A path or shortcut under the table would be interesting, too. Hopefully in the next new Mario Kart, Nintendo makes less linear tracks and experiments more with different routes to get to the finish line.
What the hell?!! When I started watching this video, I imagined a shortcut exactly like the one at 4:20 AND I was thinking how Twisted Mansion is similar to it!
I really like the idea of being able to drive on the pinball rails, and just the addition of multiple routes, especially because pinball machines have many many openings the balls can go for more score, and the giant pinballs could add some risk to the rails, being either much harder or just plain impossible to dodge, so you can't take those routes all the time And maybe some shortcut routes could be covered by those door things that flip when a ball is shot through them, so there's Mushroom shortcuts as well, and maybe with a sound effect as if you're racking points
That idea with the flippers is absolutely sick! That sounds like it would be a super satisfying cut to get, as it would probably be pretty difficult. Thanks for watching!!
This isn't the best at all but it is one of the best still, in my opinion a track doesn't need shortcuts to be good. I don't know what I do but I always destroy people on this track and I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT I DO TO DO THIS HELP
I agree, DS had so many phenomenal tracks and I’m always surprised when people rank Waluigi Pinball above all of them. I don’t think it’s a bad course at all, but it’s certainly far from perfect. Thanks for watching!!
My biggest problem with Waluigi Pinball is that there really isn’t much going on before you enter the actually Pinball portion at the end of the lap. There’s pretty much just some sharp turns and sometimes a pinball you have to avoid. Even when you get to the pinball portion, you can just go straight and avoid the pinballs just by doing that
@@GameBlock_as soon as I reach the pinball section, I just branch off to the side, then I go middle while grabbing the double power box in 8, to avoid the pinball
You lost me at 1:20 I’m a prime defender that a track doesn’t need a shortcut to be a good track. In fact the problem with this track struggles from the opposite thing that Wave 3 fails to do, In Waluigi Pinball, it is one of, if not the least functioning track in 200cc, walls galore. This is one of the few tracks that need a wider layout, which Nintendo perfectly put in of every track for Wave 3 so that every track in Wave 3 plays surprisingly well in 200cc. Waluigi pinball is actually not bad to play for 100-150cc. It plays like an actual track. It can be said it’s overrated, but the reasoning I have heard from the entire community 1. Lack of shortcuts 2. Has the same music as Wario Stadium 3. Does not contain the sound effect at the end of the track and somehow it’s praised aesthetically with 2 of the main complaints literally not having to do with gameplay, which is bogus! As for the Lack of shortcuts, I guess there could be an addition to cut of the turn on the first ramp, but I don’t see too much of a point in that. Waluigi Pinball in MK8 is the track that makes you realize the problems of MK8 as a whole; The Red shells are crack, The gameplay is too overfocused on shortcuts and smuggling mushrooms, Pre Wave-3 you couldn’t shock-dodge in the cannon, and it shows how bad the coin item is with the largely spaced portions of track between item sets. It’s not Waluigi Pinball’s fault, it’s MK8 as a whole. Hopefully I covered all the points for this track
I wasn’t criticizing MK8’s Waluigi Pinball specifically, I just thought that game’s graphics were the most pleasing to look at in video form, so I used that for the example. The problems I have with the track apply to all its versions across the Mario Kart series. I do definitely agree the track isn’t quite wide enough on 200cc though, so I hope it’s made wider in future iterations! Thanks for watching!!
i was SO excited to play waluigi pinball for the booster pack since people have been hyping it up for so long and I’ve never played a game that has it before and was so disappointed by the track. it’s just so boring. the final set piece with the bumpers and balls is interesting but it’s still so linear and over so quickly and the rest of the track is just a bunch of monochromatic turns that aren’t even that fun of turns. i think people just see the giant waluigi head and think it’s fantastic (which tbf the giant waluigi IS fantastic) even though the gameplay sucks
I personally think the track is mostly fine as is (the only thing I’d really change is making it a bit wider and giving the green section at the top of the machine antigravity) as I think having a track without shortcuts is good for some variety in comparison to how shortcut reliant a lot of other tracks are, but I like your ideas.
Yeah the the track could definitely be wider to better accommodate 200cc, and that green section would work super well in antigrav. Also, I can definitely appreciate a more simple track, but I think it’s always good to have at least one alternate route or shortcut in a course to keep the gameplay from getting stale after a while. I’m glad you liked the ideas though, and thanks for watching!!
I agree that waluigi's pinball course could have some shortcuts, would be awesome if you could take on one of the red grids to reach the bumper part faster for example
I haven’t played a whole lot of the Sonic racing series, so I’ll have to make sure to try that track out if I get into any of the games! Thanks for watching!!
So I'm not crazy. For a long time, I haven't truly felt the magic everyone else seemed to feel from Waluigi Pinball. For me though it's not the lack of shortcuts, it's just that I find it way too easy. There's never enough carnage on the table to get me excited, even when two balls are bouncing in the last section. And the flippers have almost zero presence, nobody gets hit by them. I'd personally make the gap between them much smaller. I will say if you're playing MKDS on an actual DS, use headphones when racing in Waluigi Pinball. It helps you appreciate the great sound design.
Yeah, some extra challenge could be nice in a future version of the course, but I think it makes up for that on 200cc with some difficult turns. I definitely agree the gap between the flippers could be smaller though, especially because you can go around them to try and get coins. You’re also right about the sound design! It’s really good, which is why I was somewhat disappointed when the version in the DLC didn’t get a remix. Thanks for watching!!
I like this track, but I can see when people say it doesn't have a lot going on to it in the initial descent, and when you actually reach the pinball table you go through it way too quickly. I dunno how these issues could be remedied without changing the layout too much though.
I think a few shortcuts or alternate routes like in the video could go a long way to improve the course, but I agree the layout would probably need to be changed quite a bit. Thanks for watching!!
I think in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe they should add the option to have a normal sized track, and a large track. The large track would have more shortcuts and obstacles.
That’s a really cool idea! It would also be cool if on tracks with changing laps like the city courses you could choose a custom route! Thanks for watching!!
I agree. I don’t think the course is unplayable without it, but given that it’s MK8’s central gimmick it feels wrong to have it left out of a track it could have worked so well on. Thanks for watching!!
That’s pretty much what I think as well. I don’t hate the track by any means, I just think it could be so much better to live up to its amazing aesthetics. Thanks for watching!!
Glad you like this video format! I can’t make any promises for if I’ll do more like this, but I’ll keep it in consideration when planning future videos! Thanks for watching!!
I would agree with that for 150cc, but some tracks are barely wide enough for 200cc as it is. If there was a way to alter the narrowness of the road itself, then I would love it if on a lower cc you got a narrower track. Unless that’s the case though, I don’t know if it would work all that well. Either way, it’s an interesting concept! Thanks for watching!!
Yeah it definitely was a bit of a disappointment gameplay-wise when it got ported to the DLC, but I hope Nintendo listens to the criticisms of their fans and adds some changes to it in its next iteration! Thanks for watching!!
Honestly, since I made this video, my opinions on the track have changed a bit. It definitely would be better with some shortcuts, but overall the track is pretty fun to drive! Thanks for watching!!
It definitely does deliver in terms of style. Hopefully the gameplay rises to match that style in a future iteration of the course! Thanks for watching!!
Yeah its creative concept still keeps it in a pretty high tier for me, but it really does need some shortcuts in a future version. Thanks for watching!!
Overall I just think a shortcut or alternate route can make a track a little more engaging gameplay-wise, but I can definitely see the appeal of a track that's more linear - like the Arcade GP Tracks - I just don't prefer them. Thanks for watching!!
I feel like using the term overrated is fine as long as it’s justified. The term seems to be a bit overused nowadays, but everyone’s opinions are valid at the end of the day. They’re just opinions. Thanks for watching!!
I guess people just want other Wii tracks to get their chance at a remake instead of Mushroom Gorge again, because honestly, imo, Toad’s Factory, Dry Dry Ruins, and Moonview Highway are better than Mushroom Gorge (although yes, it’s still a surprising example of a Mushroom Cup track being really, really good)
I don't really care for this track either, but unlike everyone else, I WILL attack you for not completely being in love with it because I like to be different. How dare you, poo head.
*gasps in shock POO HEAD?! Thanks for the funny comment. This actually got a laugh out of me which is more than I can say for most comments 😂 Thanks for watching!!
I’m just disappointed that there isn’t any shortcuts. It would have been really cool to have a mini pinball ramp (or whatever you call those things) that allow you to jump over some part.
I hadn’t really considered a jump over portions of the track, but that would be a super cool shortcut! Maybe you could fall into one of those holes that are in pinball machines that launch the ball, but instead it would launch you across the track! Thanks for watching!!
The gameplay not engaging? You start out being shot through a one of a kind tunnel, after which you have to navigate some of the trickiest turns in all of Mario Kart (especially in the 8 Deluxe version), WHILST dodging giant iron balls. Next thing you know, you’re on a freaking pinball table, dodging the same pinballs as well as bouncy obstacles that can send you back into said pinballs. Finally, you make your way to the end, avoiding the hazardous electric obstacles in your way. Waluigi Pinball is not the best track in the franchise, but that the gameplay is “not engaging” is bullshit.
By “not engaging” I meant the actual route itself. Once you’ve mastered the turns and learned how to avoid the pinballs, there’s not much you can do to change how the race feels each time you play it. I personally just think it would be a lot more engaging if there was an alternate route or shortcut. Also the tunnel at the start (while it DOES look super cool) is really just aesthetically one of a kind, as it’s the same gameplay-wise as any other glider cannon in the game. I don’t hate the course by any means, I just think it could be improved quite a bit in its next iteration, which is why I made this video. Thanks for watching!!
The shortcut thing is a good point, even though there technically are two at the pinball table part. I’m sure that there would’ve been more added shortcuts if Nintendo put as much effort into these DLC stages as they did with the base game. But as far as the stage becoming boring when you learn it, I don’t think that’s a valid argument at all, since that applies to every stage that you master.
What else do you think could be added to Waluigi Pinball?
Steal a MKT idea and make Waluigi Pinball R
Nothing its a amazing track but you cant please everybody
It needs anti-gravity on the steep bits for a start. Speaking of the course layout, look at the layout of the track in an early beta: ua-cam.com/video/MflhuZcdLRM/v-deo.html

Ah yes finalyl someone who noticed the hole in the skybox! Wait this video isn't about that...
Ok now I’m officially intrigued. What hole in the skybox?
i was SO excited to play waluigi pinball for the booster pack since people have been hyping it up for so long and I’ve never played a game that has it before and was so disappointed by the track. it’s just so boring. the final set piece with the bumpers and balls is interesting but it’s still so linear and over so quickly and the rest of the track is just a bunch of monochromatic turns that aren’t even that fun of turns. i think people just see the giant waluigi head and think it’s fantastic (which tbf the giant waluigi IS fantastic) even though the gameplay sucks
I agree. Hopefully Nintendo realizes this and adds some new gameplay elements in the next version of the course! Thanks for watching!!
Yeah, driving on the path the pinballs take would be sick! Thanks for watching!!
While I like the track theme-wise, gameplay-wise it's lacking. This video perfectly explains that 👍
Glad you liked the video! Thanks for watching!!
Would have loved to see the Cheese Land or Ribbon Road treatment.
Same! Those tracks got such good remakes, and I’m hoping all the tracks in the next Mario kart meet those standards! Thanks for watching!!
Still better than Monaco….
I don’t get the reference (though I feel like I should), but thanks for watching anyway!!
When it comes to pinball based tracks, I prefer Pinball Highway from the Sonic Racing series.
Agreed, the track has massive potential but for like 70% it's kinda wasted
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
Anti-gravity should be used here. Big disappointment on Nintendos part.
I agree. I don’t think the course is unplayable without it, but given that it’s MK8’s central gimmick it feels wrong to have it left out of a track it could have worked so well on. Thanks for watching!!
They need to change the music/ost to be different from wario stadium.
I completely agree! Hopefully they have separate remixes in future games. Thanks for watching!!
The aesthetic and music is awesome but is so straight forward and I just can't see the appeal and what makes it so overrated
That’s pretty much what I think as well. I don’t hate the track by any means, I just think it could be so much better to live up to its amazing aesthetics. Thanks for watching!!
Get rekt nerds
Pls do this for more tracks
Glad you like this video format! I can’t make any promises for if I’ll do more like this, but I’ll keep it in consideration when planning future videos! Thanks for watching!!
@@GameBlock_ if you did, you could potentially make it as one whole video with small changes you’d make to various tracks
Waluigi Pinball is overrated in general
I agree with the fact that its aesthetics are some of the best in the franchise, but yeah the gameplay is a bit overrated. Thanks for watching!!
You pulled the overated card so your opinion is going into the dumpster

This track is still one of my favorites but there's no track better than Maple Treeway imo :D
I agree, maple treeway is absolutely incredible! Thanks for watching!!
My feeling is that almost every single Mario Kart 8 track could be improved by making it 5% narrower.
@@GameBlock_ You wouldn't need to race at 200cc if it wasn't broken in the first place.
I couldn't care more about this track
Sure it's cool looking but no shortcuts.
Ot feels like a nerfed wii track with nothing mk8d offers
Yeah it definitely was a bit of a disappointment gameplay-wise when it got ported to the DLC, but I hope Nintendo listens to the criticisms of their fans and adds some changes to it in its next iteration! Thanks for watching!!
Wanna know the one problem with Waluigi Pinball
THAT THERES NO PROBLEMS WITH IT but if you dont like it i respect your opinion either way
Honestly, since I made this video, my opinions on the track have changed a bit. It definitely would be better with some shortcuts, but overall the track is pretty fun to drive! Thanks for watching!!
@@GameBlock_ your welcome and happy new year 🎉 😊 ✨ ☺ 🤗
Waluigi pinball has been more about the style for me
It definitely does deliver in terms of style. Hopefully the gameplay rises to match that style in a future iteration of the course! Thanks for watching!!
Let's just say... bumpers aren't fun
They can be pretty annoying to hit 😂 thanks for watching!!
It's quite overrated
Not bad at all, still S tier
But no shortcuts and the Pinball area is at the bottom
So why is most part on the pinball slide?
Yeah its creative concept still keeps it in a pretty high tier for me, but it really does need some shortcuts in a future version. Thanks for watching!!
a track doesn’t need a shortcut to be a good track its fine how it was
Overall I just think a shortcut or alternate route can make a track a little more engaging gameplay-wise, but I can definitely see the appeal of a track that's more linear - like the Arcade GP Tracks - I just don't prefer them. Thanks for watching!!
I never had these problems but as long as you dont play the overated card were fine because people say ohh mushroom gorge is overated etc
I feel like using the term overrated is fine as long as it’s justified. The term seems to be a bit overused nowadays, but everyone’s opinions are valid at the end of the day. They’re just opinions. Thanks for watching!!
@@GameBlock_ im sorry but i finding harder and harder to respect opinions that sound not good
I guess people just want other Wii tracks to get their chance at a remake instead of Mushroom Gorge again, because honestly, imo, Toad’s Factory, Dry Dry Ruins, and Moonview Highway are better than Mushroom Gorge (although yes, it’s still a surprising example of a Mushroom Cup track being really, really good)
@@jomaq9233 grumble volcano? Warios gold mine?
I don't really care for this track either, but unlike everyone else, I WILL attack you for not completely being in love with it because I like to be different.
How dare you, poo head.
*gasps in shock
POO HEAD?!
Finally ! I think this track is massively overrated. Too long and no shortcuts
Glad you agree! Thanks for watching!!
Waluigi Pinball is a good track aesthetic wise but gameplay wise? It sucks.
Pretty much yeah 🤣 Thanks for watching!!
But as far as the stage becoming boring when you learn it, I don’t think that’s a valid argument at all, since that applies to every stage that you master.
i disagree with some points
Which points?
Waluigi pinball is boring ashell imo
Yeah, it’s definitely overrated in my opinion. Thanks for watching!!
