Glad I could help provide my honest thoughts on the controllers! Definitely worth it in my opinion 👍. Thanks again for checking out the review, and for the awesome compliment!
I'm sold already based on the fact that they are compatible with so many consoles. Always a great practice to state that you were sent these controllers to be reviewed. I think that builds trust with the audience. I do like the back of the triggers and how they are similar to new age controllers. I'd get the blade GC due to the position of the sticks. Good to hear the battery life is actually as advertised. I love how in-depth you dive into the triggers especially with the element of MGS. This is the sign of a wonderful and authentic review, you truly reviewed these instead of just unboxing them and playing one or two games with them. That defender controller for the PS3 though.... looks sick. Oh jeez here we go with your love of the PolyMega! Excellent review on these controllers!
Oh for sure man! The versatility of these controllers make it such an easy recommendation. And yeah, I like to let viewers know if something was sent to me for review, but still gauge it based on if it's something I spent money on (which I did do for the BladeGC controller). The triggers was something I really wanted to ensure I went in-depth with, since they're an essential part of the GC experience. I tried to think of things I'd ask as a consumer going into this as best as possible, and that was one of the first components I was curious about lol. I really tested out far more games than mentioned, and all worked fantastic. The Defender controller that Retro Fighters makes is also phenomenal for PS1/PS2/PS3 gaming! And yes, I HAD to give a shoutout to the Polymega! Love that console! Glad you enjoyed the review man! Thanks again for checking it out!
I'm glad you mentioned the router interference issue. I had the same problem with the wireless brawler 64. I switched my router over to the 5ghz band and it fixed the problem.
Yeah, I felt that was something to highlight just in case anyone else ran across that. Definitely an easy workaround though. Thanks for checking out the review!
Awesome review! These look like fantastic alternatives to the original. I have one of the Dreamcast Retro Fighters controllers and honestly it's hard to go back to the OG controller after using that.
It looks like the build quality is solid and not a typical cheap third party device that soo many of us were accustomed to back in the day. Great find!
Just bought one of these since both of my wavebirds finally stopped working! Looking forward to using the BattlerGC and having even more fun playing classic GC games!!
Definitely man! I was VERY impressed, but Retro Fighters truly are the king of modernizing controllers in the retro market. Thanks for checking out the video man!
Thank you man! Yeah the price really is very reasonable (and sweetened even more with the promo code in the video)! Thanks again for checking out the video man!
Happy to see a review that discusses the analog triggers and their lack of the secondary click. Guess I'll stick with getting an OEM and a USB adapter. Great video!
Glad I could highlight the triggers! Even though it doesn’t “feel” like the GC controller’s triggers, they function great for the most part! MGS Twin Snakes was the one game where it felt a bit odd, but everything else worked great. That being said though, the OEM GC controller is still part of that essential GC experience 👍. Thanks for checking out the review!
Thanks for the excellent review. I was immediately interested when I heard about these, but I was wanting to hear some opinions before I grabbed one. Now I’m definitely getting a BattlerGC once I get some spare cash.
Looking to be 2 of the best controllers ever made. Great review man! Both controllers have their own perks. What sealed it for me was the Polymega compatibility. I had no idea! 😱 Very very cool! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! This is how a hardware review is done! Stay awesome GCG! 🤘
They really are fantastic controllers! Retro Fighters really are the king of modernizing controller for retro consoles! Exactly, both controllers have their own perks, and compliment each other nicely. Of course I had to test out the Polymega with them! Easily my new way to play all my games on the Polymega as well 👍. Glad you really enjoyed the review man!!
I got mine today (BattlerGC), and I gotta say, it's not the same, but it's the next best thing. If you can't get a GameCube type controller that is in the original form factor, this is your guy! I would prefer this over any GameCube controller PowerA offers currently. It's honestly a big controller, which is just what I was looking for, but if you have smaller hands, this won't work for you, even if you play Smash Bros. That being said, the overall quality and feel is phenomenal, especially for a company I have never bought a single product from before. It sucks that it's not regular Bluetooth, but that's made up for by the fact that you can use this on an actual GameCube, or a Wii, or a Wii U, or a PC, or the Switch, like how I've been using it. Until Nintendo decides to buck up and make their own version or until NYXI has sustainable stock of their new Wizard controller, this is your best bet if you want an authentic GameCube feel while playing Smash on a modern console! Also, this controller works wonders for platformers and other games, I had no problem using it with the likes of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Kirby and The Forgotten Land, Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Colors Ultimate, Portal, Metroid Prime Remastered, and others. If you're more of a retro gamer and prefer older games or modern games like Mega Man 11, Cuphead, or Sonic Mania, or simply a controller that would work well with the Game Boy Player then get the BladeGC with the bigger D-Pad and PlayStation style joysticks. At the price it is though ($45 USD), I would recommend getting the 8BitDo Pro 2 instead, it's essentially the same controller with a regular Bluetooth functionality and phenomenal quality, that controller cannot be beat when it comes to older games on the Switch, Plus it has functionality to work with Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and 2.4 GHz radio frequency (don't quote me on the last one), so you might even be able to get it to work on consoles like the GameCube or PS2 with the proper adapter! The BattlerGC, however, is an excellent choice, especially if you play Super Smash Bros, and there's nothing quite like it on the market, or nothing quite as good in my book.
@@Joel-bt4tt I love the feel. Very comfortable and very precise. I got the BladeGC because it has the larger d-pad and decided to pull the trigger on the BattlerGC as well. Both are excellent controllers. This review nails them pretty perfectly.
Thank you man! It definitely would’ve been cool if the right stick looked more like the C-Stick. Despite that, the analog sticks feel fantastic to use! Glad you enjoyed the review!
It's an awesome controller for sure! I know Power A did a GameCube controller for the Switch that was quite good. There's also the Nyxi Wizard for the Switch that more or less looks VERY close to the GC controller design. However, when I reviewed that, I felt I was in the minority compared to what many praised about it lol. Thanks for checking out the review!
7:36 Want to know a secret? If you use a non-gray Retro Fighters receiver on the PS3, you will find out that an "unknown device" message appears, and your controller will have the 2P light on. This means the controller is on XInput mode. Hold the Home button until the 1P light appears to enter DInput mode, which is required for use on PS3. You have to do this every time you use a non-gray RF receiver on the PS3. If you have the gray one, DInput/PS3 mode is the default mode, so no need to do the Home button trick. Here's the catch: A/B/X/Y is actually Cross/Circle/Square/Triangle. It works well for overseas games (except Japan and Asia), but if you have Japanese or Asian-region games, be prepared to press the B button as your confirm button. Other than that, it works fairly well with PS3 games, including ones that required the DualShock 3. (Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, NBA 2K series and Gran Turismo 5 & 6 come to mind.) The Home button works as a PS button, but don't hold it too long or else the RF receiver will enter XInput or Digital-only DInput modes. You can legally play your PS one copies with the BladeGC and/or BattlerGC, complete with analog mode functionality. If you used a PS3-supported GameCube controller adapter (like the Mayflash one), L2 and Select buttons would be gutted and you couldn't use the analog mode on PS one games.
Nice video I'm pretty happy with mine. I order a lot of Retrofighters stuff and I will support your channel next time. They make pretty good stuff but they have amazing customer service so I like to support them as they are giving life to some older consoles with good controller alternatives. Since it has much improved Z button(s) I can actually use a different grip sometimes. I'm playing Need for Speed Underground, and I can rest my 2nd finger on Z, and my 3rd finger on the R trigger. This grip gives much less fatigue for racing games. I could kind of do this on the original, but couldn't access the face buttons as well and my 3rd finger jammed up against the wall of the controller by the trigger. The gamecube has the best left analog stick in gaming history, and while this doesn't live up to that - it's still pretty good. Let's be honest no 3rd party has ever completely nailed an OEM stick feel, but what matters is it works well and stands on its own. Nice to have a currently manufactured alternative to a Wavebird. I've tried blue retro to use other controllers, but that comes with its own small issues.
Thank you man! Retro Fighters really is an awesome company with great customer service. They are very ergonomic controllers, and agreed that they felt so comfortable to use, even for extended use. The GC really does have the best analog stick design, and while I wish that was replicated here, the sticks they use work flawlessly and feel comfortable. Did you get the BladeGC or BattlerGC? Thanks again for checking out the video, and glad you’re enjoying the controller as well!
@@GameCubeGalaxy you’re welcome! I started with Battler to get the original layout, but I’ll also pick up the Blade at some point to get that nice big D Pad in the primary position.
@@AxfNPn3l Awesome man! Yeah, the BattlerGC is my personal favorite of the 2 controllers, but I also love the BladeGC controller. Either way, can’t go wrong 👍.
I’m thinking of getting one of these, just so I can play Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and the controls feel more like the original PlayStation game.
The controllers are awesome for sure! I will say though, the triggers feel a touch sensitive in terms of response, but you may like that if you want more of a PS controller feel (if that makes sense lol). That being said, I hope you enjoy whichever controller you choose from here if you get it! Thanks for checking out the review!
Nice review! I have their PS2 controller and it's fantastic so I will try to get this one for my modded Wii! I'm really glad that they made the Blade GC so that it has the Playstation joystick placement design! Great video and keep up the good work!
6:20 You have a Defender, so if you get the Mayflash PS2-to-Wii adapter you can use the BattlerGC and/or BladeGC on the Wii U with the Defender's receiver. This is useful for playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Super Mario 3D World and Call of Duty Black Ops II, but it may not work with some Wii U games like NBA 2K13 and Injustice. Other than that, you'll still experience button mapping issues for Wii and Wii U games that don't have button remapping.
Given the issue of fake controllers on Amazon and eBay, this would be useful if you're looking for a GameCube Controller. The problem with these cheap fake controllers is they don't last well compared to the genuine controller. For most GameCube and Wii games, it would work well although the experience may vary with N64 Wii VC titles since some games like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask can be harder to play on VC due to the control stick on the GCN controller being different from the N64. Yeah, the disappointing thing about the Wii U GameCube adapter is that it only works for Smash Bros. for Wii U. It doesn't work for Virtual Console games and you can't even play Wii games that support GameCube controllers like The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, MySims Racing, and Resident Evil Archives (RE1 and RE0). That is the reason to keep the original Wii since it supported GameCube controllers although modern TVs that lack component ports can be an annoyance. However, a hacked Wii U does make it more useful since it can be used with Nintendont.
Well said! Yeah, experiences with N64 games on the Wii VC and Switch Online app vary based on the games of course. The Wii U GameCube adapter is such a disappointment in that it only works for Smash Bros for Wii U, no question. Even the fact it doesn't read the device when in Wii Mode is a headscratcher. The Wii is still a fantastic way to experience the GameCube library, but also modding the Wii U (or Wii) to use Nintendont is a great aspect as well. Thanks for checking out the review!
I like the choice of having the D-pad on top or bottom row. I may consider getting the one with the D-pad on top so I can use it with a GameCube to NES controller adapter. A D-pad is best for 2D platformers.
Good choice! Yeah, I love that they provide the choice for the D-Pad placement by offering 2 different controller types. Either way, you can't go wrong! Thanks for checking out the review!
For sure! Both controllers complement each other well, and opens up the GameCube to having quality third-party controllers! Thanks for checking out the review man!
Still waiting for my BattlerGC Orange controller but I got the BladeGC Black controller and love it. Hopefully it ships when my crimson Red Sega Genesis controller ships as well.
Nice! Yeah, both the BladeGC and BattlerGC controllers are awesome, and compliment each other well! Thanks for checking out the review, and hope you also enjoy that BattlerGC controller!
Definitely! Always awesome to hear of more people who love the GameCube! I’m pretty sure these controllers can be ordered overseas! Hope you’re able to get one, and thanks again for checking out the video!
5:54 This is the only way to play Melee and GameCube games with the correct button mapping on the Wii. You can use a Mayflash PS2-to-Wii adapter and a Retro Fighters Defender receiver, but the button mapping is screwed up, making GameCube games on Nintendon't broken to unplayable (except for the ones with button remapping). Not to mention Not64 doesn't work with these kinds of adapters, but you can use the included GameCube receiver and Not64 will work fine.
Thanks for sending me this link. I have another question please. I can afford to buy a 2nd hand original gamecube controller, do they hold up ok or are they likely to be a bit rubbish due to being 24 years old for example?
Sure thing! Honestly, a 2nd hand GameCube controller should hold up more than fine as long as it's in good, clean condition. I still have my original controller that came with my launch GameCube console, and works like a charm still. Thanks for checking out the video!
Just ordered one. I was impressed with the brawler64's quality so I'll give this one a shot. Wish this controller was bluetooth, but 2.4ghz will work. I haven't been impressed with most of the gamecube styled controllers available because of the lack of analog triggers. I'm using it on PC with dolphin so I should be able to adjust the sensitivity on the triggers. I've been on a quest for the best controllers for emulation that will provide a more authentic experience or better. I'm picky and like the button layouts to match what I'm playing. An Xbox controller doesn't feel right for gamecube emulation.
Its a shame there is no bump at the end of the trigger pull or a toggle for vibration strength, was also hoping for something like an extra orange c stick that you can swap in. Other than those wishes of mine; this is certainly the wavebird I wish we got 20 years ago. Edit: Question I have is what other game controller does the battler/blades Dpad feel close to? Honestly I wish we could see the 3 button genesis controller dpad (or GBA SP/OG DS Dpad) make a return as I love how there was no give when pressing the middle.
I do wish it had that trigger pull or stronger vibration, but luckily the controller performs so well otherwise, and feels outstanding to use. I'd say the D-Pad feels close to the DS Lite D-Pad, just much larger than that. Hope that helps, and thanks for checking out the review!
Awesome review. I have a question would this work with the Switch Lite if I have it docked/connected to a Switch Lite Hori Duel USB port charging stand?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the review! That’s a good question. I would think as long as the “Pro Controller Wired” setting is on, it should detect this that way. Hope that helps a bit!
Thanks for your work on this video ! Does it work on MiSTer FPGA ? Curious to know if it also work on the analogue pocket dock. The BladeGC remind me the very expansive Hori Gameboy player controller but with wireless, analogue stick and rumble bonuses more than a playstation controller.
Glad you enjoyed the review! I unfortunately don’t have a MiSTer FPGA (but would love to get one, one day), so I couldn’t test that out. I also don’t have the Analogue Pocket Dock (yet), so I couldn’t test that in time. However, I have a strong feeling it’ll work for that dock. Also, a fair comparison for the BladeGC controller 👍. Thanks again for checking out the review!
These look pretty sweet and solid as an affordable alternative to Gamecube controllers. Of course I'm more of a OEM controller guy myself but it's nice to have a wireless controller with actual rumble in it. I wonder how Metroid Prime 1 and 2 will feel with either of these, plus the dpad is a decent size too! Great review GCG!
Definitely great (affordable) controller alternatives for the GameCube! Even for use on the other platforms, it really is great bang for your buck. Metroid Prime 1 & 2 felt really good playing with these when I tested them out later on. Granted, the OEM controller is still the preferable way to experience GC games, but these controllers nail what they need to do for sure. Glad you enjoyed the review man!
I’ve got a question regarding this controller. Do the A, B, X and Y buttons feel hard to press in comparison to other controllers? If so, do the buttons soften and become easier to press over time after a lot of use? For example, I have a newer PlayStation 5 Duelsense controller where the X, Square, O and Triangle buttons are harder to press in comparison to the Duelsense I got alongside the system in 2021 where the buttons I just mentioned are softer to press as it’s an older controller.
I think super monkey ball should have been the main test for the analog stick specifically. I know it's a small thing. But the game doesn't work great with other controllers. The analog stick of the official gamecube controller really gives a lot of precision in that game. So I'm curious. Cause my experience with the defender controller is weird. Cause I tested it on my pc, it registers a perfect square. Which makes precision iffy if players want to be precise. But it works fine in most games. And nerrel shows that the brawler64's stick isn't much better. So I'm wondering if retrofighters improved it at all
Good point! I just tested that out this evening, and while I can't state if it registers the controller's analog stick as a "perfect square", I can state that I had no issue breezing through most of the Expert courses, especially using some of the shortcuts I could normally pull off with the GameCube controller. Hope this helps, and thanks for checking out the review!
U guys really like these? I been playing with mine today and I’m not feeling it, buttons feel weird, dpad is kinda mushy.. they’re nice and low lag though as I don’t feel any, but I don’t know if I’ll be using it much. It wasn’t fun to use for GBA at all, but felt ok for Gamecube stuff
It was announced in October 2021 and slated for September 2022 launch originally. They got pushed back a few months due to production issues that have plagued many tech companies the past few years. Now they’re all complete and in-stock though, so it’ll take a few days to receive it once ordered lol. Thanks for checking out the review man!
Defiantly a great alternative controller for the GameCube and the fact it works on other systems make the price tag much easier to justify (though to be honest, it's not that expensive anyway). It's interesting that they went with a more 8bitdo Pro/Wii Classic Pro Controller design, rather then trying to keep to a similar layout as the original GameCube. Would you consider this a must have, if you already have a wavebird? Also how easy is it to use on Steam? Usually with these types of controllers I have to make them come up as Xbox controllers to function correctly. Great review and look forward to seeing more GameCube accessories.
Absolutely man! It’s definitely an attractive price point. That’s a good point about the controller’s design appearing more like an 8bitdo Pro. Even with having a Wavebird, it’s still a must-own in my book, especially with how versatile the controller is for playing on multiple consoles. I’ll be honest, I haven’t tested it on Steam yet since I don’t really play on PC, but I will try to test that out quick and provide an update (hopefully) by the end of the weekend. Glad you enjoyed the review man!
I was hoping you’d do a review on these! Retro Fighters does an incredible job with their controllers. I wish this had a little more Wii U functionality, but I get that’s not what it’s for. I’m curious if this would work on a docked SteamDeck? 🤔 Appreciate the video!
Yes Retro Fighters confirmed that it works on the steam deck dock (on their official twitter account), but they said that it was not developped for steam deck in mind, but essentially for gamecube and switch.
Oh man, when these were announced, I reached out to Retro Fighters immediately about wanting to cover a review for these controllers lol. Very fortunate to have had the opportunity to do so, and can’t recommend them enough! Wish I could’ve answered about the SteamDeck, but still don’t have one…but one day! Lol
Do you guys plan on releasing a silver version to replicate that Wavebird look? Also, what about adding an optional yellow stick that we can swap out if we wanted?
Hey GCG, is it possible to use these controllers while the Switch is not in the dock? I want to take my Switch on the go but I don’t see how the controller would pair with my switch without the USB. I’m assuming it’s only compatible while the Switch is docked and playing on the TV
@@CmPuke101_ Jeez, that’s when you know I need more coffee 🤣🤣. Unfortunately, yes, you do need the USB dongles for the Switch to read the controllers, so you can’t use the console in tabletop mode with the controller.
So one thing i have found that seems to be a plague on third party controllers, there is an unspoken list of games that most seem to have issues with. One game I do own that I have an issue with on a cheaper controller is Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2 where my controller just won't sync with it. Have you found this same issue on that particular game or any others that have issues while using either the BattlerGC or BladeGC controllers? I would hate to spend $40+ on a controller that doesnt support every game like an OG Waverbird or wired controller.
They work really well! Hope you enjoy getting the controller (and don’t forget to use that promo code to save a few bucks)! Thanks again for checking out the review man!
Ok. Very important question with regards to shiny hunters. Can u control multiple gamecube consoles using multiple receivers and only one controller? If not, then this product can't really say it is competing with the wavebird.
is there not a wii u homebrew app for aroma that can let the usb dongle for this to read? I have my Nintendo Switch Pro controller working on my wii u via bluetooth with bloopair app in aroma. Surely there must be a usb app
On the switch, particularly for smash, can you use either option? Like usb>straight into dock Or the gamecube wireless receiver> gamecube 4 port adapter> dock, alongside other gamecube controllers/wavebirds?
Hello, I have a question: if I buy a controller with multiple receivers and plug the different receivers into different GameCubes/Wiis, will I be able to control the consoles with a single controller? Thank you.
I plugged this in to my Gbros adapter for the Switch (it’s a purple pill thingy that has a GameCube port and a Wii port) and the red light flashed but it wouldn’t function. What’s the issue? 🤔
I agree with those as criticisms as well. Thankfully the controller itself is definitely high quality! Maybe they'll tweak that in a revision down the line? Thanks for checking out the review!
Is there like a list of games that doesn't work with the BattlerGC? So far my experience has been good but I decided to pop in Naruto Clash of Ninja Revolution 2 and the controller would go haywire, made the game unplayable. Thought it was the controller but I tested it with the first Naruto game and it worked fine, I even tested it with a GameCube game and it seems to only be with Clash of Ninja Revolution 2, maybe others. Idk if certain games had a piracy thing with fake controllers or something, so maybe the game is reading it as a non official controller or something? Playing on original hardware, not emulating. Thanks in advance!
Can you connect different receivers to different controllers? Or are they rooted to each controller automatically? Cause on the wavebird you can change channels on the dongles
So you can connect to different receivers. For instance, I was able to sync up the BladeGC controller to the receiver I have for the BattlerGC. Hope this helps, and thanks for checking out the video!

The triggers are recognized as a pro controller I believe. I didn’t notice anything with pressure sensitivity when using the triggers (for example, racing games with a throttle control). Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the review as well!
Yeah, some of the game's trigger sensitivity may feel a bit off on these controllers. Hopefully they can fix it one day! Thanks for checking out the review!
From my understanding, they’re supposed to work perfectly fine with a wired connection on PC. I haven’t tested this out (yet) since I personally don’t game on PC, but I will try to test and verify this hopefully this weekend and provide an update. Thanks for checking out the review!
Good controller, but those glossy plastic buttons make it a big nono for me. A pity, because their Duelist controller is fully matte plastic and feels awesome.
I never used the Duelist controller (yet), but am looking into getting one at some point. I actually really like the glossy buttons, but that's also authentic to the OEM GC controller. Thanks for checking out the review!
Honestly, other than MGS Twin Snakes having a slight inconsistency since I was so used to the GC controller’s trigger feeling, the triggers here worked fantastic on every other game I’ve tested so far! Thanks for checking out the review!
The GameCube controller is like a Sega controller because it has the y button where the start would be on a 3 button controller and ut has no select button. Sega dose what Nintendo copies.
@@GameCubeGalaxy well I really like the look of the blade gc because it’s a copy of the hori Gameboy player controller with added joysticks for added use . I’m a Gameboy player nut 👍🏻
My brain doesn't like this controller and I can't figure out what's going on The only thing I can say is that I prefer PlayStation layout controllers like the 8-bit do for example and yet it's a GameCube controller so it's supposed to be Xbox layout and so my brain is probably freaking out and I hate it.
Not a fan of the second analogue stick not being coloured yellow and labelled as C stick when it’s modelled after GameCube. Also the z button not labelled or coloured purple feels more like standard Xbox/ps4 style. Had the controller get severe stick drift on left analogue stick hearing reports of it quite often so there are some flaws. Overall build feels strong works good. The instructions for pairing it with a switch isn’t great turning off the controller isn’t easy have to wait for it to time off
I saw these somewhere online in passing, but was waiting for someone I know to make a review, so a huge thanks for stepping up to the plate

The analog placement of a PS2 controller but with the button style of the gamecube one, sounds like my perfect controller

Great review, man! Thanks! I was waiting for it. I hope I can purchase this controller from Europe :'D
Thank you man! I’m pretty sure it’ll ship overseas! Hope you can get one! 👍
Loving mine so far. So nice to use it on my switch, steam deck, laptop, and gamecube! So versatile
Awesome man! Its versatility is easily one of its strengths, and makes it FAR worth the value! Thanks for checking out the review!
How were you able to get it to work on steamdeck? The lights come on and it connects, but I get no response on the steamdeck
I love this one and the Defender for my PlayStation consoles.
They're both excellent! Retro Fighters really does amazing controllers for the retro community. Thanks for checking out the review!
I've got both of these in orange being delivered today. Can't wait to give them a try. Great review. I dig your content and subscribed to the channel
Nice! Hope you enjoy them! Glad you enjoyed the review, as well as the content on the channel! Thanks for subscribing as well!
Hey I’m tempted to get one. How do the controllers feel?
@@Joel-bt4tt I love the feel. Very comfortable and very precise. I got the BladeGC because it has the larger d-pad and decided to pull the trigger on the BattlerGC as well. Both are excellent controllers. This review nails them pretty perfectly.
@@Sorteal Thanks for your thoughts. I’ll probably pickup the BattlerGC!
Great review. Kinda disappointed that the right stick isn’t yellow - but i’m really happy to find a solid wavebird replacement
Thank you man! It definitely would’ve been cool if the right stick looked more like the C-Stick. Despite that, the analog sticks feel fantastic to use! Glad you enjoyed the review!
This looks awesome. I wish someone would make a quality controller like this in the exact same shape as the Gamecube controller.
Thanks for checking out the review!
will definitely be picking up 2
just saw the code at the end of the video THANKS!!!
Awesome! And glad you used the code shown at the end of the video! Hope you enjoy them man, and thanks for checking out the review!
Got one myself, thought they canceled my order since it's been months and the other stuff I ordered came right away!
Even more excellent info shared here! Thanks for this! Also, greatly appreciate you checking out the review!
Thanks Dan! The Defender controller is excellent as well! Hope you enjoy the BladeGC when you get it!
U think u write me back when u get it and tested if it works on the wii homebrew snes9x?
6:20 You have a Defender, so if you get the Mayflash PS2-to-Wii adapter you can use the BattlerGC and/or BladeGC on the Wii U with the Defender's receiver. This is useful for playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Super Mario 3D World and Call of Duty Black Ops II, but it may not work with some Wii U games like NBA 2K13 and Injustice. Other than that, you'll still experience button mapping issues for Wii and Wii U games that don't have button remapping.
Oh! That’s great to know! Thanks for sharing this info!
Great review. Earned a sub
Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed the review, and greatly appreciate the sub!
Great review man. Definitely buying the Battler now! What Ninja Turtles game is that??
Thanks man! And that’s TMNT Smash Up for the Wii (and is also available on PS2)! Made from the same team that did Super Smash Bros Brawl on the Wii 👍.
Also is it possibel to buy brand new original gamecube controllers?
It is, but mainly from eBay...which will set you back a pretty penny. Hope that helps!
@RetroRGB - Would love to see a latency test of these compared to the wavebird.
I’d like to see that as well 👍. Thanks for checking out the review!
It's nice that they have both xbox and PS style controllers. Making the GC even better.
TMNT Smash Up music made my day
Heck yeah! Glad you noticed! I felt it was a badass background song to use for this review. Thanks for checking out the video!
TC called it. Check out that GCG couch pinup lol
Had to have some footage of me using the controller haha. Thanks for checking out the review man!
Nice controllers. I love my gamecubes. I hope this controller will get to german shops aswell somewhere in the near future :)
Definitely! Always awesome to hear of more people who love the GameCube! I’m pretty sure these controllers can be ordered overseas! Hope you’re able to get one, and thanks again for checking out the video!
Nice, pretty cool considering the wave bird only came in 2 colors, and didn’t have rumble.
This is correct! The Mayflash adapters are just “okay”, but I had inconsistent results with them in the past.
I want to see a wired version of these controllers with port adapters so I can plug into my game cube or switch or PC
That's fair! I could see Retro Fighters doing that one day.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy the controller, and will be curious to hear your thoughts on it once it comes in! Thanks for checking out the review!
Super Dope review thanks
Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed the review!
Phenomenal & very informative review! I’m waiting to see if they release a silver version to match my cube lol
Thank you man! I’d love to have silver versions too! Thanks again for checking out the review!
Really quick, you missed if the control sticks have an L3 R3 button - do they?
Oh that’s right! Good catch! Yes, they do 👍.
@@GameCubeGalaxy have you tested it on pc in the control panel settings? That can tell the shape of the stick
Wonder if you could beef up the rumble by adding weights to the motor? Or replace it with a different motor?
Possibly? If you end up trying that out, let us know! Thanks for checking out the review!
It took over a year for it to get shipped? You said you ordered it in October 2021
Appreciate the video!
Yes Retro Fighters confirmed that it works on the steam deck dock (on their official twitter account), but they said that it was not developped for steam deck in mind, but essentially for gamecube and switch.
@@zizarami3270 good to know! Thanks for the info.
Lol
Thanks for answering his question about the SteamDeck (and for checking out the review)!
@@GameCubeGalaxy heck yea, Retro Fighters seems like an awesome company. Glad they hooked you up!
Yes, the NYXI Wizard does have Bluetooth built-in and connects to the Switch without any need for a USB dongle 👍. Hope that helps!
@@GameCubeGalaxy Oh I meant the BattlerGC and the BladeGC, not the NYXI
YOu sold me and I was considering getting that 4 controller dongle that allows you to connect any bluetooth controller to it.
Glad to hear man! Which one entices you more, the BattlerGC or BladeGC?
@@GameCubeGalaxy the battlergc for sure! I love the original gamecube layout so much
Imagine this had a Wii classic controller dongle too 🤤
That would be awesome, especially to use these with the NES/SNES Mini! Thanks for checking out the review!
I was wondering how well they worked cuz I was on the fence about them. Looks like I’m getting a new controller
Surely there must be a usb app
id use this controller for basically any game
On the switch, particularly for smash, can you use either option? Like usb>straight into dock
Or the gamecube wireless receiver> gamecube 4 port adapter> dock, alongside other gamecube controllers/wavebirds?
Exactly like you did in the video for the wiiu, but for the switch
These look sweet!
Definitely! Thanks for checking out the video!
Why didn't they make the right stick yellow? Probably for symmetry.
Literally my only criticisms are cosmetics. I wish the right bumpers were purple and the right stick was yellow on all controllers.
@GameCube Galaxy That helped. Thanks for replying back, and thanks for the discount code! 🙏🙏

It does! Sorry I’m just getting back to you now on this! Hope this helps, and appreciate you checking out the review!
Does anyone know if this controller works using the USB Bluetooth on a homebrewed wii using USB loader?
Are the triggers analog when connected to the switch or is it recognized as a pro controller?
The triggers are recognized as a pro controller I believe. I didn’t notice anything with pressure sensitivity when using the triggers (for example, racing games with a throttle control). Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out the review as well!
The triggers make it crazy difficult for mario sunshine. Really a bummer...everything else is pretty good. I wish they would fix it
Yeah, some of the game's trigger sensitivity may feel a bit off on these controllers. Hopefully they can fix it one day! Thanks for checking out the review!
Do the controllers work with a wired connection on PC?
From my understanding, they’re supposed to work perfectly fine with a wired connection on PC. I haven’t tested this out (yet) since I personally don’t game on PC, but I will try to test and verify this hopefully this weekend and provide an update. Thanks for checking out the review!
What's the white controller brand name?
thank you!!
Thanks for checking out the review!
the dpad on the BladeGC is very bad. I have 2 of each controllers
FYI: Alas - an expression of grief, pity, or concern.
is there a silver variant?
Nah. But I'm sure they'll make a silver on one day haha
I wish! I can definitely see Retro Fighters doing this in the near future though. Thanks for checking out the review!
@@GameCubeGalaxy Thanks for the great video!
No built in gyro?
Unfortunately, no. Sorry! Thanks for checking out the review!
What a bummer with those triggers. 😭
Honestly, other than MGS Twin Snakes having a slight inconsistency since I was so used to the GC controller’s trigger feeling, the triggers here worked fantastic on every other game I’ve tested so far! Thanks for checking out the review!
Can this connect to android phone?
The GameCube controller is like a Sega controller because it has the y button where the start would be on a 3 button controller and ut has no select button. Sega dose what Nintendo copies.
No gray variant of this controller.
D pad is larger on blade
Yes, but just slightly. I barely noticed since the D-Pad felt awesome on both controllers. Good observation! Thanks for checking out the review!
@@GameCubeGalaxy well I really like the look of the blade gc because it’s a copy of the hori Gameboy player controller with added joysticks for added use . I’m a Gameboy player nut 👍🏻
@@CLINTSTER77COX Oh for sure! The BladeGC is PERFECT for playing games through the GB Player! 👍
Unfortunately there is no Wavebird replacement.
My brain doesn't like this controller and I can't figure out what's going on The only thing I can say is that I prefer PlayStation layout controllers like the 8-bit do for example and yet it's a GameCube controller so it's supposed to be Xbox layout and so my brain is probably freaking out and I hate it.
🎮
Not a fan of the second analogue stick not being coloured yellow and labelled as C stick when it’s modelled after GameCube. Also the z button not labelled or coloured purple feels more like standard Xbox/ps4 style. Had the controller get severe stick drift on left analogue stick hearing reports of it quite often so there are some flaws. Overall build feels strong works good. The instructions for pairing it with a switch isn’t great turning off the controller isn’t easy have to wait for it to time off
