Glad I came back to view this again. I work with PS CS 6, but tend to minimize my use of the gradient tool, etc. I'm putting payers in the animation timeline, mostly. What I find true with CS6 extended is that when I turn an image, like a perfectly cut out plane, or car, into a 3D object, the transform also creates a little grayish edge around the object. Drives me absolutely nuts...all that careful feathering, and now this dumb edge. I try to hide it using the Blending Options, and playing around with inner shadow at the best angle and amount. But, it's never perfect. IfI din't have the blend tool, I could not complete the video. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I've even tried adding a dark edge to the cut out before converting it to a 3D postcard...didn't help. Any ideas? It does't seem to come from any default lighting the file picks up in 3D post card mode....and by the way, I'm working in black and white. (Desaturated) would I have better luck in gray scale?
make sure your images are in bridge. open bridge make sure the photos you want shows up then go to photoshop. most the time I just have both programs open.
Using PS for 15 years and never knew about those hidden groups of filters in the Gradient Maps menu. Of course I feel like a dumbass. I have to pass your tips on, super vid, Kel.
That hint about setting the original ratio as cropping default is great!
WOW! That was cool to find out that you actually created the scott5 preset! That's my favorite one to get things started!
Try the link above in the description for the video. That might help...
Awesome video I had no idea about the gradient map presets that would come in very handy for people photography, thanks!

He clearly said in the beginning that he would "Tell us some really cool things about Photoshop CS6". He never said it necessarily had to be new :D
Errr... How come is Crop-out a new feature???
Shift+F2 or Shift+F1 does nothing for me. :( Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

I prefer the dark UI. Used it a lot in AI.
Focus on the job and not distracting elements.
Now it looks like a piece of Apple software :)
