Who would’ve thought technology could bring such a melodic feel to a snare feature? I remember when Blue Knights pulled this out a few years ago. Awesome
Dylan Shay Three of the snares have wireless microphones on the harnesses. These send signal to the synth. From there, the sounds are processed through a vocoder, with pitch being added to the rhythm via playing notes on the synth. Then this sound is projected out the speakers and mixes with the acoustic snare drums on the field.
Did they actually incorporate this into their show? I just viewed another full run performance of theirs near finals night and I couldn't audibly he's the electronic factor?...

oh hi
This is the only part of the show I wanted. Thank you!
That is out of this world
no this is Lucy
the guy on the right at the end is my tec this year!
the center quad from this year is my tech
Longest snare feature in DCI history?
Yes!
If we're getting super technical, the snare intro to metamorph was a hair longer. BD12 is another lengthy one but it's a bit shorter than these
Are the snare players triggering the noises coming from the speakers themselves? or is it prerecorded?
They have microphone packs on their drums if you look closely. Their sound is run through a vocoder that the synth player controls.
@@lialubinsky that is actually so cool
@@lialubinsky explain this more? i know like the very very basics of sound and audio

Dylan Shay Let me know if you have specific questions about this; I’d be happy to answer them :)
Bluecoats 2021 moment
Dang the sounds are crazy
I think Zach is way too talented and works too hard to barely get a 10 second solo?? He deserves more

There was a tech issue. The mic packs didn't send a signal to the vocoder I think.
Is this age out year for zach?
please god forbid
@@khoast3835 unfortunately it was his ageout :/
Tasty
It would’ve been hilarious if their duts were autotuned at some point
Lol yasssss
Imo the technology implementation was a little extra. Blue Knights already did that lol
and they did it better imho, no shade at Bloo tho
As we all know, when one person does something, no one can ever do it again
😋
Call me old fashioned but I used to love it when drum and bugle corps were… drums and bugles and not synth and amps 😟
old fashioned
old fashioned
old fashioned
i do respect your opinion and sometimes i agree with you, but I for one welcome this new wave of change.
Good because this isn’t allowed anyway👍
