      It’s strange cause I despise snowboard pro camp but he rides a lot with the guy from board archive and that guy has some great style and a commendable bag of tricks. Seems fishy that pro camp has way more followers than board archive

    • @xe2014
      @xe2014 2 роки тому +7

      @Wutdafack the vast majority of people who strap on a board are not very good, that’s pro camps target audience. Board archive focuses on on reviews of high end boards that most new people wouldn’t even consider buying.

    Your number #1 is spot on. I have been snowboarding since 95 and still only maintain a 2 board quiver because I have always given younger, less experienced riders my old boards. love your content. I've been guilty of buy new gear before my current stuff is truly worn out, but I never thought about selling any of it. All of it has gone to friends to get them into snowboarding. Only rule is to pass the gear along to someone else who needs it. Best part of giving away gear is I've got about 10 new shred buddies who got a start on one of my clapped out boards and patched up snow pants.

Started watching the UA-camrs a few years ago as I was going to Whistler (I live in Australia) and they were great vids NOW it is all self promotion! There are other guys who say they are snowboarders but actually surf more and to me seem to disrespect some of there supporting companies because they won’t pay for their endless summer trips.

    #4 - Vail bought out my local resort 2 years ago and it is going down hill fast. 1st year they cut the hours back right away and opened later than ever, cut the hours again this year without warning after everybody bought their pass at a discount back in November, supposed to open this Sunday. Previous owner's made much more effort at blowing snow early season to get the place rolling. Unfortunately there are no other resorts for me that are closer than 4 hours away, drove 5 hours last week just to get some riding in. As for giving back I help all my son's friends that are new to snowboarding get their boards set up show them how to tune them, give them advise on gear as well as my old gear, help them learn how to ride so they will hopefully get hooked.

      Same thing with a Vail Resort in Washington. They have ~40% of their terrain open on a good day and closed down a chair the other day due to "covid exclusions", whatever the hell that means. They are half staffed and have ruined the start of what should be, a great season. #Vailfail

    I not only snowboard on my channel but I also do downhill skateboarding, and I recently sent an entire box full of unused stuff to Kenya that was just hanging around. I could have sold it but I wanted the gear to go people who would apricate the gear and use it! as far as snowboarding goes, last year I bought a used snowboard for one of my friends who I knew wouldn't be able to afford it. i gave him a few lift tickets and taught him how to ride. its not something i filmed or made content on. the content i create is for the riders i film. its for them, so they can have lasting memories of our time on the mountain. some instructors only get one year and don't end up coming back due to getting big boy/girl jobs.

    All valid but why hate on influencers bro? They actually put up riding content all year round which I appreciate. As I've progressed my riding and learned more about the culture I can recognize that there are levels of greatness but I still appreciate them for being mediocre riders who are still waaaay better than me sharing their knowledge and experiences. How is that not a form of giving back? Being a pro isn't only about reaching the pinnacle of a profession or making yourself part of the spin cycle contest circuit right? They just get in where they fit in. You're an important piece of it all so please keep doing your thing. Its just that tearing down other people's success is pretty shitty on the human scale IMHO.

      Cause they fucking suck! Their knowledge base is non existent, they shill shit products to people like you that don’t know better, they make videos showing people how to get to terrain they shouldn’t be in causing problems down the road, they give horrible riding advice because they sick which causes more people to ride like shit. They aren’t pro and never will be but labeling yourself that or an expert when all you have is a fake it till you make it hustle mentality is awful. They are a cancer and if you can’t see that then you are sick with the disease.

      Thanks for the insights bro. I love everything about snowboarding, self-righteous haters included. People like me (who I guess you're either trying to protect or repell from your sanctuary) are just happy to see other folks ride because we don't have access. If more REAL snowboarders shared daily content they'd get REAL support. BTW I can't wait to see more content from you this year showing us how technically gifted you are and offering the finer points to make us into 'real' snowboarders. What ever happened to 'ask a black snowboarder'? Pretty sure he was the last person I saw strapped in on your channel. Keep being shitty though. It's a major part of your appeal and there are plenty of likeminded cats who need that energy to validate themselves.

      Aww is someone upset that someone sees through the shitty people they idolize? The only shitty person here is you because you feel so compelled to protect fucktards that can't get off blue terrain.

      @@AngrySnowboarderThe thing is I still follow your channel too so maybe I'm just a whore for snowboarding content. I agree with most of what you said...just think you're extra green gooey shitty about other UA-camrs like you ain't part of the hustle, selling us stickers and your opinions on products too. Every game needs a alternative opinions. Looking forward to all that super stoked content you're about to drop bro. A nice idea on how YOU can give back...find a young promising rider that needs a filmer and a platform. If he has a stank vibe that would suit, but it would also be ironically cool if he was super optimistic and carefree.

      Are you a flat earther? Do you believe whatever Kennedy is coming back from the grave to lead the GOP? Are we living in a simulation? Was the moon landing staged? That's what their opinion is when you put it up against anyone that's lived, worked, breathed the snowboard industry/culture. Why is it no real companies want to work with most of them? But I can make a phone call and they're down with whatever idea I throw at them?
      Everyone says I'm jealous of them, but the funny thing is I'm not. I have no issue with them figuring out how to get paid to snowboard and build some audience. Awesome good job for you that you stumbled into something you love. What I have an issue with is the fact that that they don't give back, they give horrible advice that at some point is going to get someone killed I'm honestly waiting for that day so I can say "I told you so", they don't know the history of snowboarding and refuse to learn it, and they just want to keep taking. If you paid closer attention it's very much "look at me" and all about them, vs look at you, look at this, look at what "we" as a culture are doing.
      You want to argue that I "don't show my riding". OK when you go into a snowboard shop do you just walk up to the sales guy and say "I need to see a video of you riding product x". No you don't. That's like going to a car dealership and telling the sales guy I need to stand here and watch you drive the car I want. It's a vanity move to put in your riding as it doesn't say shit about how the board truly functions. Hell watch Grand Tour most of the time when they're driving a super car around you see it in a straight away, a down shift up close in a turn, the engine revs, and then they show it going out of a turn and cut back to the presenter. Does that do anything to you to want to buy that car? No.
      No ones forcing you to be here or even stay here. I don't care if you leave. But if you're going to try and argue maybe you need to get some better facts and points because they're about as weak as Kevins legs buckling on another knuckled jump.

    So I guess I didn't even realize that I was giving back to the sport. Seriously I did this accidentally. It all started with an old long border that I knew that when I was struggling to get my first longboard together he gave me a set of wheels and a pair of bearings. Because he did that every time I tell somebody about how cool longboarding is and they want to get a set up together if I have any spare parts or something I'm simply looking to upgrade I give the older but still good stuff to them. In a related note last year I gave away a perfectly good libtech DIY series bored to one of my friends who had a mid-90s Solomon that was an absolute piece of crap. I'm going to continue to pass on the tradition to everybody that I teach. And by doing that I am supporting both a longboard and Snowboard community.

    Fairly new to snowboarding but, I come from a skating background and am interested in snowboarding history/culture. That being said what are your top 5 snowboarding videos/sections? I tried searching for a top 5 on the subject in your videos but, couldn't find anything. When I was a kid watching VHS tapes of the pro skaters at that time was what first helped me wrap my head around the idea of it being a lifestyle as opposed to being some idiot kid at the skatepark wearing Zumiez clothes that gets in everyone's way.
