Frank, thank you for this very informational video. This is the most information I've been able to find about the red spotted Newt, which I just discovered around this time last year. They were all along the side of the road as if on a big pilgrimage. I love how docile they are and whenever I see one in the middle of the road I pick it up and move it to the grass. I noticed most of them tend to be about the same size. However, last year I picked up one that was tinier than my pinky. Is that just a really tiny newt or did it just come out of the water from the first stage?
What an incredible looking creature ! Great video Mr. Taylor.
Thank you kindly!

In my area walking on the back roads of the Catskill woods ,kids pick them up off the road and move them to safety.
Awesome!
Caught them as a kid every spring. Now I save them from being mowed and weedwacked at my job. I love red efts.
I am spell bound every time I find one!

Likely to have just emerged! After a heavy rain I often see them en mass, too!
We see them central ny and the Adirondack
Cool! What a broad range!
