+Phangmaster I think I'll be going back to Aces High 3 for my WW2 aviation fix. It's been my experience with earlier iL2 series, that the complexity can be tailored from novice, to expert real life pilot. Most of that is in this, but my major gripe, is the complexity of just getting my HOTAS controllers to work in it. Really ticks me off that they made that one key part of customizing the game to your wants, so damn non-intuitive. To say the least of not very well documented. 👍🤜🤛
Does Aces High still have that 1990s payment system? $15 / month or something? I couldn't pay that again, it's an old game with very few players isn't it?
Yes it does indeed. They also are relying heavily on player made content to _keep the game fresh,_ instead of hiring in-house staff for, arena moderators, maps, skins, damage, and flight models. 😂🤣 Unsubstantiated rumor has it, that HTC gives out free subs to people that act as moderators, map makers, and such.
*_This_*_ is what I was looking for_ Phil. The Aircraft tab wasn't very intuitive with what I was looking for, figuring _all_ command functions for flying would have been _in the aircraft tab where they belong._ Silly Russian developers for making the buyers jump through hoops.

hotas x will fly on the 4 axis settings..but youll be shot down a lot..needs the view settings..so you can see whos on your 6 and elsewhere...great vid..really is a top simulator...
It is a game in itself setting up controls because you have to back in and out of the game to recheck everything,drives me insane,I actually give up after a while,too much time wasted. I set up everything then forget what button is which in game,why I have to recheck and recheck all the time.

Absolutely glued to the screen...Will be getting my old thrustmaster out again and get my hands on a copy of CoD! +phil style Unfortunately I'm not set-up yet...I'll have a friend come over on the weekend and fiddle around with my pc and I think I have issues with TS and my headphones.Hopefully I'll be able to get it sorted sometime soon...I might have to hone my flying skills for a couple of decades before I'll be worthy flying with your kind! phil style everything works but my joystick it's self won't work? like the aircraft don't turn left or right, my throttle works and my guns but I just can't turn??
Helpful, thanks. I have more time accumulated in the set-up page than in flying this sim. I need to find out why my aircraft bounce side to side while taxing and accelerating on take off.. I've not seen any video show this happening, and no fix as yet.
Phil, first off great content on all your videos. The stuff you put out is informative interesting and entertaining. I have a problem installing my new controls on IL-2 CloD. When I try to put in lets say the Y axis control, there is a control already there, I try to clear it but it won't go away so I can't install my chosen control. Any help would be appreciated. Thx in advance.
I appreciate all your work, but, man, whoever designed this sim (whether it's 1C:Maddox Games or Team Fusion Simulations) really, really, really dropped the ball. That they link themselves to the IL-2 name is especially egregious, but then IL-2 is just as culpable, since they still market the COD line on their website, though they refuse to offer any support. At the time of this writing, they've come out with a new entry in the COD line, Tobruk. Normally, with IL-2 products, I would eagerly make the purchase, but based on the abysmal previous efforts, I wouldn't dare drop a dime without some assurance that they had addressed the myriad issues plaguing the previous releases.
I need a ch hotas profile for this,spent hours editing someone elses but found out it was for the German ac not the Spitfire. I have the dummies guide,it tells me how to make a cmc file but after making it,it doesn’t show up. Rename txt file to cmc and “all files” selected but nothing shows up in control manager. Heeeelp.
There are 500 radiator settings,500 mixture settings,can't stand this sim for the controls ,just horrible. I can't find an empty CH Hotas template to write everything down,have this sim on the hd but never play it,just a mind crusher,only made for a very limited few.

Do you mean (1) you cannot roll, or (2) you cannot yaw, or (3) you cannot turn on the ground when taxying?

A very informative video. One thing, the Bolton- Paul Defiant was a British fighter,and has a turret. How would that be set up?
I know this is an old thread but i note you didn't allocate joystick buttons to flaps and undercarriage. Did you intend to leave them out
