Well this is a complex question. But you should always follow the manual's grading. The oil viscosity is the force that hold it together. Water has a low viscosity, pine gum has a very high one. The SAE grading has 2 numbers. One before the W which is the cold rating and one after the dash that is the warm rating. When you start your car the oil is not uniformly distributed and your engine has to redistribute it everywhere. If the oil is too thin its not going to be able to prevent rubbing
Engine oil is always difficult to choose, but you should be fine with any high mileage oils. Your choice will have to take into account the temperature where it will be driven, if it's in normal weather 5-w30 will be your choice, Here I used Valvoline synthetic 5-w30 engine oil. They offer you to suscribe to some sort of waranty if you want. A good filter will help keep the engine clean as well. They are not very expensive either. I hope this helps!
Yes, it can be hard if the filter was replaced too tight last time. Especially if its oiled up. There is a tool that is specially designed for that that you can buy at the store. Its not too expensive. You can ask for one model that will fit your car.
That would be like giving someone a massage with water. If the oil is too thick it will not be redistributed rapidly which is going to increase dry rubbing. The best unit to look for would be the CST, the unit for viscosity. The SAE grading allows an oil to be in a range of Cst. It is then possible for an oil that is in the higher part of the range of 10W-30 to be very similar to an oil that is in the lower part of the 15W-40.
I have never owned a 4 cyl car before and wonder if there were headers for them like I've had on 8 cyl. ones. I see that they are. I'll have to check my neighborhood auto parts stores to see if they have them. I see cars with the loud mufflers, but only need the header to help with the mileage and horsepower. I'm too old for the noise now.
Hi,I put 10w40 in my hyundai accent,I am not satisfied with the fuel consumption, you propose 5w30 for a mild climate then?I almost never get minus celsius temperatures where I live.
I assume you mean 10W-40. That should be fine. What it means is that the oil will be thinner when at running temp than for the 10W-30. It is not unseen to do this kind of switch with older cars.
The check engine should not be on because of the oil change. You probably have another issue. If you are in the states go to auto zone they will give you a free diagnosis. If not get an OBDII reader. It can read and erase the codes.
Hi. I have Hyundai Accent LC 1999 1.3 engine. I want to ask you people, does your accent burn oil ? I am first owner of the car and i does burn oil 1 liter every 1000km no matter what kind of oil i add to my car. Did you have similar symphtoms ? Otherwise, the car works perfectly, and she is indestructible. Thanks
Engine Oil Stop Leak is frequently used for that. it may or may not work but it is worth a try. Often if it doesn't stop the leak completely you'll slow it down. Otherwise you need someone to find where it's leaking. It's not always expensive to fix that
@@PNBNC I am really sorry to forgot to mention that i am fixing the car myself, i have got a leak from crankshaft seal on timing belt side and leak from head cover gasket. I solve that, so no more leaks. My best friend is also a mechanic and he says that engine is burning it. The car burns oil from day one. Maybe now after 20 years burns a little bit more but no big deal. My question was, does your Accent burns also oil because your is a little bit newer. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your reply.

everything was ok until i got to the oil filter,,, then i was lucky to have a second car to go and buy a wrench, but there was to many so I bought a wrong size,,, 3'' diameter size of a filter
It is too tough to unscrew my oil filter? Edit: I hammered a screw driver through it and out the other side and turned it a bit at a time. Thanks for the tutorial.
That is a good way to do it if you don't have a wrench one time I just used vice grips and smashed it until I got a good grip on it last resort was gonna be a screw driver
The car is built with the metric system, so all sockets are in mm. The drain plug is a 17mm socket.

Yes, I always remove it when I work under the car. It makes it a lot easier.
After changing the oil how do you reset the "check oil" light?
How many times do I need to change the oil on an 2004 accent/brio? I’m using regular oil or synthetic?
Right on brother thank you I looked for that oil filter I guess it was staring me in the face the whole time lol
Sweet, will try this on my accent next time. Beats spending 80 bucks at jiffy lube.

What size or part number should I get for the oil filter o: please and thank you!
I have a 1998 hyundai accent hatchback and live in Puerto rico would 10w-40w be good. weather is ALWAYS hot.
What size socket are you using on the drain plug? Thanks.
Yeah what size
this rocks. I am going to try it this weekend, wish me luck!
Good luck.

Short and sweet
I have a 2005 Accent with a 1.3 liter engine, do you know if the filter is located in the same place as with the 16V ?
@PNBC How come yours has a metal intake manifold? mine is black plastic
Ok I need hlp with cars but what is that little can thing...
ThaJonstar Sorry I don't know, my guess is different models for different regions.

I know the game and I'm not sure what you mean but, glad I can help!
Sorry to hear, good luck with your order!

Don't poor all at once...
After 3 1/4 quarts stop, and check it, if don't want to go under the car again to rinsed some out
Enjoy :-)
How long will it take before I have to change it again?
A week or so, until the oil runs through the engine system.
