  • This week I interview Roocha, who was unhappy in her career as a Civil Engineer when first took my course a few years ago. She learned the skills, applied her analytical abilities to digital mareting and got a very good first digital marketing job making about $47K/YR --- cut to 3 years later, she is now making six figures in a remote digital marketing job and loving it!
    I often get questions about digital marketing as a viable career change for professionals in other fields - I think Roocha's story is a great example of you can thrive with such a transition!
    If you have any questions feel free to contact her on Linkedin:

    These interviews are very insightful. Thanks for posting. Is it common to have training in some jobs?

    • @sethjared
      @sethjared  Місяць тому

      Yes, most jobs provide training ONCE you have demonstrated the core knowledge and skills my students get from the course. In other words, the average college grad with no idea how to setup a PPC account, etc. will not get "hand holding" training from the ground up (which is why there are still so many entry level jobs). But one you have basic experience, typically the senior members of your team will give a ton of guidance.

      @@sethjared hey Seth thanks for the response :) I also sent you an email but so far I’m very curious about your course. I wanted to ask… I made a post offering ppc services to non profits in hopes of having an in to build my portfolio… I got a response (way faster than anticipated with a 10k mo budget) and I’m just wondering, will your course be able to guide me on how to manage this account and start building a portfolio via tbis avenue ? Or did I just bite more than I can chew with this lol. I saw your free webinar and I saw you mentioned you’d also teach us hands on projects as well as how to find our own clients (maybe this turns into a future lead), how should I go about this seeing as I’m just starting out ? 😅

    I’m wondering, would you consider digital marketing to be a “boring job?” not in a bad way but where you have a low stress, high paying job with good work life balance? I’m interested in digital marketing as my main job but I do want to start my own side business and my current job leaves me with no energy or time to do that.

      You're better off starting your own business. That way you ain't on nobody's payroll & nobody can't tell you shit. It's cringe that grown adults have to ask "permission" for days off or say why they're not going to work for a day. Idk, it's really fucking dumb. Focus on your own thing. I was gonna do this as my career but I went with real estate instead. I work for myself and it's great. Godspeed.

      If that is the definition of a "boring job" then yes, for sure. I'd watch the interviews with my other students, there's more than 100 up here. My take is that digital marketing is the perfect foundational business to work while you are trying to build a side business.

      Working for an agency has the advantage of a steady and reliable income stream plus the ability to learn from senior co-workers and get your hands on multiple accounts. Some of my students feel the same way and also just want to work on their own clients and that is good too. The key to remember about working for yourself completely is that you essentially become a salesman and you are responsible for obtaining and mantinaing all your clients whereas in a job they are provided for you. Some people have a personality type best suited to work for themselves from the beginning but most of my students easy into it, gaining confidence, building up savings in a job, then adding clients here ad there until they are fully ready to go out on their own.

    Hey there! I'm interested in taking your course, is it updated for 24/25? Or at least will the principles still apply for the current day?

    • @sethjared
      @sethjared  3 місяці тому +1

      Yes indeed, the course is updated. With 40 hours of videos I can't update every single video every time Google or Facebook makes a change to their interface, design etc. The underlying pricinples are always up to date and if there's any major disruptions we address that. Just updated the website section and my SEO coach went over the SEO videos. Plus there are coaching calls twice a week and an active FB group.
