Why wasn’t this song a bigger hit? It’s an EJ classic imo. Those chord progressions alone are worthy of such status. He was a great singer/songwriter back then. I blame those bloody punks and skinheads around at the time this was released, for it not charting higher.
Cathy McGowan, one of the presenters of UK pop show Ready Steady Go! from 1963-66. I think this video is meant to be Elton's recreation of the atmosphere of that show a decade on.
