This is just firm, ripstop-type nylon and the sound will dissipate over time. Gore-Tex is a water resistant shoe lining; it cannot be seen on the exterior and this shoe doesn't have it (certainly not for 70 quid).
I think the first half of the shoe line looks great, but the back part is somehow to tall and destroys the classic feel/look. I saw that all the manufacturers seem to embrace this idea, tall, bulky, complicated. Seems ok for a teenager but that's it. They all look designed by Disney or something.
