    Nice video! Few things that work for me. If you take a rachet 8mm allen and slip you 8mm wrench over it you can get to the drain plug and have better leverage. Break both loose and leave the fill plug in until you remove the drain, then you can slowly remove the fill plug, this will keep you from getting oil all over when it wants to rush out the drain.

    Just wanted to say you are an inspiration, before I bought my st I was watching your videos and it inspired me to buy an st. I bought my st stock and watched all your videos on the mod installs and it helped me understand more about cars and now I have more confidence when working on cars. I'm currently now stage 3 and in the process of installing my big turbo. Just wanted to say thank you and helping me chase my dreams!

    Haven't really considered changing mine out yet..im at 43k miles (2016, had it since new). One of those things that it's not that big of a deal for me yet, but once the miles pile on this is a big must for longevity of the transmission! Appreciate the video!

      I know this is an old comment but when I first got my st i changed my trans fluid at 65k miles, there was barely any fluid in it and it was sludgy. Sold the car at 92k miles. Next guy put a new trans in it at 115k and I bought the car back at 123k. I'm at 128k now and about to change my fluid. 😂 I'm not taking any chances lol

    The Motul DCTF fluid is simply amazing imo. I was running strait Amsoil synchro mesh, and my Mustang S550 mt-82 didn’t like it. This Motul made my car shift so well, even in cold weather, it feels like butter going into gear. It was a little harder to get at the fill hole Allen key on the s550. I had to cut one short and use a wrench to get it off, like no room in there.

    I just changed it with valvoline synthetic 75w-90 gear oil and the difference is massive, literally night and day! It shifts sooo much smoother. It went from clunky shifts to buttery smooth shifts. The old fluid didn't even look that bad, it looked like the one in the video.

    You should put the car on all 4 jack stands so it’s level when you fill back up and you should take it for a spin then check it by taking the top bolt out and pumping more and after going into every get it still spits it right out then you are good , also you should clean it with break clean after so you can see leaks and don’t have the oil just sitting on your frame

      Mate his car was fine. You dont need to do anything of the sort. Why comment is BS. Its years later and you think in your very small brain that saying use brain cleaner is somehow going to fix something. You dont need to reopen anything LMAO. its 1.8 that comes out and 1.8 that goes in. Simple as that. POINTLESS COMMENT.

    Thx for the video. I just attempted changing my transmission fluid for 2011 Ford Focus 2.0 duretec petrol at 70k. I jacked up my car and supported by jack stands. Using only a 8mm Hex Allen key and extension bar to loosen fill plug and drain plug from underneath the car. For filling, I found Nulon syntac 75w-85 transmission oil in innovative squeeze pouch with a hose attached. Very easy to use. Hope this helps to anyone attempting to change their own oil as Ford obviously doesn’t want ppl to do their own and charge you a premium.

      It's really hard to nail down exactly what this powershift transmission fluid spec is. Some say dct fluid. Some dextron 4, some say 70-75 or 75-85? I'm confused. How was your experience with the nulon 75-85. I see nulon do a Dct now, and a 70-75.

    Is that transfer pump for the larger 'wide mouth' bottle openings? Or the small version? What you are using in video looks different than the one linked in description. I want to make sure I get the right size for this Motul bottle. To me it looks like the Motul bottle is a wide mouth.

    Hi. I own a 2018 ST and recently had my transmission fluid changed a month ago, by Ford. But now when I park, in gear on a slight hill with no E-brake on, let the car sit for a like a minute and it starts moving forward like the gears are slipping. Car has 51,000 miles and regular maintenance done. Any thoughts?

    • @teachertechnology1
      @teachertechnology1 3 роки тому +1

      It's a litte hard for me to understand what you saying. But I think you mean that you parked your manual ST on a hill on 1st or reverse and after a while it roled on it's own. Im assuming it didn't do that before.
      So, manual trannys don't slip. The only thing that can slip is the clutch, but on both ways. If your clutch is done, you would smell it at high acceleration or see the rpms go up without tyres burning for example (See a vid about it).
      If your clutch isn't slipping, and the car roles where it didn't before, I'd assume it's just that the new oil reduced friction enough for it to move on it's own.
      Anyways, have the tranny oil level and clutch checked. If that's ok just enjoy it, it would mean it's working better.

    • @LA_Commander
      @LA_Commander 2 роки тому

      You kind of answered your own question. You need to put your parking brake on in addition to leaving the car in gear. The parking brake is supposed to "hold" the car in place while leaving it in gear is a "backup" to hold the car in place, in case the parking brake fails for some reason.
