I like how they ended up making Woody because he's very relatable. Children can understand being afraid of being replaced when younger siblings come along, and adults know the jealousy of being upstaged by some newcomer at work or when their ex gets remarried and the kids love their new stepparent.

A bit of Trivia, Toy Story 2 was nearly lost during production when the servers were accidentally sent a delete command from an employee, And all the data was lost. If it wasn't for one employee: (A technical director) that backed up the data on her home computer, the movie as we know it today would have been lost forever, because they would have had to start from scratch, or cancel the movie altogether. Needless to say the computer was wrapped up like the Ark Of the covenant, and taken to Pixar, to upload the data onto the servers after they were repaired.

I have such a fond memory of this movie and a wonderful history with it. Back during it's release in theatres, there were blizzard conditions but my mom really wanted to take me to see it anyway. She got one of her friends who drove a truck with chains on the tires to get us to the theatre. We got there and since we braved the storm, we saw it for free and only had to pay concessions. I even saved my ticket. It's tucked into my VHS case for the movie last time I checked. I can still quote at least half this movie at 28 and the first time I saw it, I was about 4 or 5. I would've never seen it in theatres had it not been for my mom's long-time love of Disney movies.
Thanks for doing it justice, minty/mark, whichever you prefer to be calles! I love your reviews of my old faves 😄

The year I graduated from high school. Saw the movie at the Newport Cinemas in Spokane Washington with three of my best friends. I wasn't keen on going as it was a cartoon and I thought I was too old to enjoy one. Fortunately I loved it and went back two more times. I think that between my nephew and friends children I've watched this over 300 times. Still love it tough. If RN hadn't done the song it wouldn't of worked.

Insightful as ever Minty 👏 I’d also say they came to the conclusion of Woody & Buzz, because a Cowboy & Astronaut are the two most classic adventurers of a boy’s playtime & imagination. I'm surprised you didn't address Jim Henson's "The Christmas Toy" and the television series that followed called "The Secret Life of Toys." In the special, there's a stuffed tiger named Rugby who was the most loved Christmas toy the previous Christmas. He decides that he's going to relive that and tries to sneak under the tree and into a box. Well, the box he chooses is a space toy that's kind of a galactic female heroine. She doesn't realize that she's a toy and thinks she's on a foreign planet for a mission. So, the toys have to try to get her back into her box and convince her that she's a toy. Rugby eventually realizes that it's selfish to expect to always be the special favorite toy. The toys also have to freeze when people come into the room. If they don't, they end up losing their ability to be "alive." One of the toys is actually a cat toy. It was a great TV special from the late 1980s. The show was probably the 1990s. Pixar has been criticized in the past as ripping off that special. You have to admit, there are some odd coincidences (especially one toy being a space toy that doesn't realize they're a toy).

Pixar has come up with some more great films since Toy Story. One thing that they all have in common is that in one way or another, you hear John Ratzenberger in them. He plays Hamm the piggy bank in this one. Actually, toward the end of the film "Cars", Ratzenberger's character Mack is watching bits of some film at the drive-in, which are car versions of past Pixar movies, "Toy Car Story" for example. When it gets to his characters, Mack yells, "Hey wait a minute! All they're doing is using the same actor! What kind of a cut rate production is this?". I like how he's able to laugh at himself for doing that.

This was also a landmark movie for John Lasseter, as only 7 years prior to this he was told by a movie executive that a computer animated feature film would cost too much money to create and would never happen. So Toy Story was the first ever computer animated feature film, not a bad feat for a director who was told he was wasting his time doing computer animation. Also Joss Whedon helped write the script and add some humour to the film.

You should look up Thinkway toys they made exact replicas of Woody and Buzz. They're a little pricey but they're pretty awesome.

What's funny with Rex is that he's a take on J-Park T-Rex, but his design is really based on the precedent franchise Dino-Riders, with its very large hips that allowed it to walk and a flat back to receive the battle station. God, I loved this franchise when I was a kid.

Of the funniest lines in all 4 TS movies, 2 has the stand out funniest. After Woody informs the rest there is a Sheriff Woody toy collection "I was a yo-yo!" Ham "Was?" LOL!!!!

My Woody doll's voice started doing that 10 years ago too, I no longer have the doll. Then I had a Blue Buzz Light-year figure

I completely forgot that Sid removed and mix mashed toy limbs. Made them edgier, melted or blown up. So maybe a living spork isn't as out there as I thought but it still brings up a lot of questions regarding creating life, and what else is sentient.

I'm surprised that Woody doll works after 25 years. I had a dentist Barbie that after a couple years it would go (in a demon voice) "Leeeeeet's bruuuuuushh. Sch...sch....sch...sch..." before it stopped altogether.

So glad it wasn't a musical or it wouldn't be my all time favourite Disney film. I'll always love Toy Story, it's got such a wonderful magic to it. And Randy Newman's songs are lovely and fitting. 'Strange things Are Happening To Me' and 'I Will Go Sailing No More' have very deep messages for me, and you've Got A Friend In Me is timelessly special.
8:03 oh wow Minty you got a They Live alien head in your bathroom, that's so wicked. Roddy Piper blowing up that transmitter really did work, I'm not even wearing sunglasses. "Formaldehyde face!" =P

Your Woody sounds like he needs to be put in the Warren's occult museum. Right next to Annabelle

As for Randy Newman, his musical composition is genius. Each Toy Story that has come out, his music has been the background and incidental music. I agree his singing voice leaves little to be desired, You’ve Got A Friend In Me works with his voice.

Wow! The first “10 Things You Didn’t Know...” video that you’ve done where I knew all 10 things! 😂
Would have been cool to actually go into Steve Jobs’ involvement though. Missed opportunity, that...

I came for a video, the matrix perhaps, stayed for the accent, the handsome guy is a bonus, and the videos are awesome! Nicely edited and produced. So WTF! With the hate about the accent? Just don't pay attention, we're more the Mintyliebers! Kudos!
