- Finally found this beautiful Duncan Phyfe, very rare and hard to come by. I wanted to give it a modern but elegant transformation. New neutral color, with a dark wood stain on the top and a little of gold to mark the details this beautiful buffet have.

You are the first show I've seen who's tackled a Duncan Fife. I think I would have liked it better if you had used the original hardware. I've always loved the sound of the pull hitting the backplate.
99 % of the time I always change the hardware because I have seen from people buying me furniture, it makes a huge difference when you update the hardware also
Lovely redo...good on you! Thanks for sharing!
thank you
I just did one exactly like that. I used a carbine scraper to take the finish off the top so much easier. Wish I could post a picture here.
😀Very Nice!!!! Personally, since it looks like you ended up using Gray Paint, I would have gone with Silver Hardware and Silver Trim. But that's me.
we actually did taught about going with that color. but we felt that it would get lost with the grey, since it has a cold finish. so we wanted to continue giving it a modern and elegant look, thats why we decided to go with a classical gold, to make the hardware stand out and to revive the furniture
I love it, I’ve got the same piece and you’ve given me a great idea! Thank you
let me see it when you finish, I would love to see it
I would have painted it black.
we did discuss that color but we felt it was to cliche
It's beautiful
thank you
Loved everything except the knobs…
we weren't 100% sold on those specifically but we were changing designs constantly, that we decided to go with something more neutral
is it a real Duncan Pyfe?
About 300 dollars worth of paint.
