However Reach was described in the lore (through books & multimedia) as one of the most important planets to humanity as the planet was rich in titanium and had the strongest UNSC military presence in the universe before it was glassed. The planet is the pinnacle of the story because it is where Cortana, John-117, CPTN Jacob Keyes and most iconic characters either trained or were made from. MAC Rounds/Cannon is also a high projectile weapon, so you are right there. In Halo: Reach you get to man the cannon in the last mission.
Reach was Humanity's primary shipyard and military base. Read the book: Fall of Reach for a fantastic read, and the background to the while halo series.

Diplex you're a great youtuber, but you should know that Reach was the Home of the Spartans and it had great UNSC presence. It also was where Cortana was born, and it had the fall of Noble Team on Reach (Spoilers- Jun Survives). Also there was one of the UNSC's lager fleets defending the planet. So when it was wiped out it kind of was a big deal. Furthermore it was one of the major battles against the Covenant. Love your videos Diplex. +BL1NDF1R3 G4M1NG lol ive literally finished all the books form fall of reach to the cole protocol a day ago..... your all wrong it is never specified how many spartan 2s were actually made only that the master chief led them, even when he lists them as mia those are HIS spartans that does not mean there arent any others....... its also implied that there where oni section 3 side projects going on already when the spartan 2 program was busy.... the books where all written while talking to bungie.... the reason they did this is so that they had freedom to for example create something like noble team..., agreed its a bit unlogical but not impossible... in my opinion reach is the best game out of all halos and just that makes it acceptable in my opinion :P
That Banshee spam would have done wonders in the early game, and it might have been better to invest in bombers instead of fighters, but the Banshee is one of those vehicles that just looks badass and has to be present. The flak wall on them was gorgeous.
19:30 was like something out of a movie. Battle of the Giants facing off only to destroy each other in the end. The music was right on point to compliment the scene as well.

They would not have found earth if they were not looking for a forerunner artifact located underneath New Mombassa, Africa, Earth. It was then found out by the covenant that earth was the homeworld. That's why the covenants fleet was so small when they arrived at earth, because they expected no opposition.

It was the last UNSC Military Stronghold, the practical doorstep of Earth, birthing place of the Spartan II Program, and it was the deathbed of almost every Spartan apart from John, Will, Fred, Kelly, Linda (technically), and Grace. They all made it off world. Will and Grace later died destroying the biggest Covenent armada ever seen. Almost 300 covie ships KIA, along with the R and R Unyielding Hyrophant.
yeah, Will died on Onyx killing 2 Hunters with his bare hands and took a fuel rod cannon to the face. he lived for about 10 seconds after that hit and scared the shit out of every covenant that was near him from seeing him standing after 2 hunters and a fuel rod shot. my favorite spartan death in all of halo. books and games. (by the way, it might have been just 1 hunter. been years since i read the book.)

MAC is Technically a Magnetic Acceleration Cannon however it is some time referred too as a Mass Acceleration Cannon by non-technical UNSC or Civilian people.
What those Paris frigates fired at your ships was a MAC blast. Almost all who know Halo know about this. Especially if one of the first games you played was Halo Wars. (Like I did)
And the MAC gun is the primary anti-ship weapon of the UNSC, the regular one fires if im right a 300 ton projectile from the frigates and crusiers, it dosnt do as much to a shielded ccs class, but the MAC platforms(if you played Halo 2, the station in the first Master Chief mission) fires a shell that is essentially a great many times bigger, and heavier, and at much greater speeds, if it hits the CSO or CAS class, it will either destroy it in one hit or heavily damage it
The hammer head ships were using Mac guns basically a giant rail gun and if you read the book fall of the reach you find out that a ship about the size of half a sky scraper can have them

The UNSC tried to defend the planet but after the destruction of the Covenant SuperCarrier: Long Night Of Solace, the rest of Thel's fleet came and the UNSC decided to evacuate the planet. The Battle(later Fall) of Reach lasted from July to August. Human military presence was decimated. Spartan IIs and IIIs on planet were nearly all killed.
At 21:49 the thing under the belly of the ship is a gravity lift. Example of use:truth and reconciliation. The big whiteish looking dot up front is the glassing is or cleansing beam

I guess one thing the UNSC had against the Covenant in space battles was that missiles and MAC rounds had a way faster velocity than the plasma rounds fired from Covenant ships. Probably why light cruisers like the Hermes class was so effective , especially in large fleets.
The cannon fired by the unsc is a mass acceleration cannon or Mac for short. Macs where good agents the covenant as they were the only very effective counter measures in the lore
great video, just that when that assault carrier was vertical and you could see its belly, the thing you pointed out is not the ventral glassing beam but rather the planetary grav lift. the ventral beam is actually located at the "mouth" of the ship.

you know what i find funny: most of the time the UNSC fought the Covenant in space they lost... horribly, in fact(if my memory serves me correctly) the only times we ever won in space was when we had a 7-1 advantage and we would still end up losing 4-5 of the ships present with the surviving ships all heavily damaged (unless of course you had Admiral Cole or captain(then a commander) keys present then things may go better for ya) but on the ground was when the UNSC "normally" had a fighting chance... provided they held on to orbital superiority
you're correct the Pillar of Autumn was at the Battle of reach each and during the battle it destroyed the second largest covenant worship with that destroyed many powerful UNSC vessels
that isnt the main particle beam cannon, thats the gravity lift, the main beam is located towards the front underneath the bulb nose of the CAS and COS class Carriers

And the MAC gun is the primary anti-ship weapon of the UNSC, the regular one fires if im right a 300 ton projectile from the frigates and crusiers, it dosnt do as much to a shielded ccs class, but the MAC platforms(if you played Halo 2, the station in the first Master Chief mission) fires a shell that is essentially a great many times bigger, and heavier, and at much greater speeds, if it hits the CSO or CAS class, it will either destroy it in one hit or heavily damage it

My poor boy, Reach was a heavily defended human colony and Thel 'Vadam's (later became the Aribiter) discreetly came to the planet and decimated Reach.
The UNSC tried to defend the planet but after the destruction of the Covenant SuperCarrier: Long Night Of Solace, the rest of Thel's fleet came and the UNSC decided to evacuate the planet.
The Battle(later Fall) of Reach lasted from July to August.
Human military presence was decimated. Spartan IIs and IIIs on planet were nearly all killed.

No. What glasses the plants is on the front of the bottom of the ship. That center piece is a teleport for ground to ship interface.
Those guns at that the UNSC fired at the beginning are MAC guns, and they are basically large slugs fired w magnetic coils.
I guess one thing the UNSC had against the Covenant in space battles was that missiles and MAC rounds had a way faster velocity than the plasma rounds fired from Covenant ships. Probably why light cruisers like the Hermes class was so effective , especially in large fleets.
The cannon fired by the unsc is a mass acceleration cannon or Mac for short. Macs where good agents the covenant as they were the only very effective counter measures in the lore

great video, just that when that assault carrier was vertical and you could see its belly, the thing you pointed out is not the ventral glassing beam but rather the planetary grav lift. the ventral beam is actually located at the "mouth" of the ship.
The thing in the middle is a transporter. The shiny dot on the bottom of the nose is where they glass planets with.

you know what i find funny: most of the time the UNSC fought the Covenant in space they lost... horribly, in fact(if my memory serves me correctly) the only times we ever won in space was when we had a 7-1 advantage and we would still end up losing 4-5 of the ships present with the surviving ships all heavily damaged (unless of course you had Admiral Cole or captain(then a commander) keys present then things may go better for ya) but on the ground was when the UNSC "normally" had a fighting chance... provided they held on to orbital superiority

you're correct the Pillar of Autumn was at the Battle of reach each and during the battle it destroyed the second largest covenant worship with that destroyed many powerful UNSC vessels
what happened to cortnana and those rounds you were confused about were probably mac rounds

that isnt the main particle beam cannon, thats the gravity lift, the main beam is located towards the front underneath the bulb nose of the CAS and COS class Carriers
