I think that learning proportions and observing is really important. Think of what your drawing as something that’s made of shapes, use reference lines.

Actually studying the anatomy underneath and understanding it, best case till you can just kinda wing it, personal advice: draw a lot of really shitty 5min pics without grid but WITH reference and look at the difference between the two and what you want to change
