      The waitress part was the least offensive imo. He said she was too vain and had chubby ankles, that's the stuff that would really hurt. He said she was a waitress because Julie was a paleantologist, so they had the same occupation in common, which is much better.

      @@nandinishah1709 I disagree with you, the most unforgivable is saying she's just a waitress. We're talking about a rich spoiled girl who has to make it on her own for the first time in her life, she took an undesirable job and spent countless hours waiting on people for a low pay. But it's honest work! She could have married a rich guy and never needed to work but she wanted to be independent. She started from the bottom. Everyone needs to start from somewhere and Ross had no right to shame her for it! But I don't expect you would be able to comprehend it.

      @@MicukoFelton have you even watched the entire episode? He's not shaming her for it at all, he's comparing Rachel with Julie. So an obvious benefit to keep dating Julie is that she has the same job as him, she shares his interest, and is obviously interested in his career so they can have more discussions or debates about it. Ross is obviously the nerd of the group and everytime he starts talking about dinosaurs or science everyone brushes him off or makes fun of him, no one pays attention. So wouldn't he want a girlfriend who actually cares about what he has to say.

      Then you're an idiot, "just a waitress" was what Chandler wrote on his computer, not what Ross actually meant, Ross's point was that he and Julie had something in common because they were both palaeontologists, Rachel was just a waitress that had nothing in common with Ross. Rachel's issue here is that she's pathetic and overreacting, she took everything at face value and didn't give Ross a chance to explain, she deserves no sympathy whatsoever.

    • @Xinxy
      @Xinxy 2 роки тому +92

      @@TheWinnie42 I don't believe this point was meant to be degrading in any way. Ross said it as a counter point to Julie being a paleontologist like him which meant that they would have a shared interest in their careers as well, while Rachel was "just a waitress" and they would have less in common in that regard. It was not meant to imply that Rachel has any less worth than Julie or him but he's trying to calculate "compatibility".

    • @danyvillarreal1340
      @danyvillarreal1340 2 роки тому +152

      @@Xinxy it’s the “just a” part that makes it degrading. She was just beginning to know the “real life” and she was trying. She didn’t have any experiences but to have everything handed to her, but she was trying, and he knew that. It could’ve been “different jobs”, “different interest”, but it was “JUST a waitress”, like she isn’t anything but that job, and that that job isn’t as important or good enough as his or Julie’s. From her perspective and having read all of the list, how that phrase is written just meant that she isn’t good enough. Maybe he didn’t mean that, but Ross has a tendency to belittle others because they aren’t as educated as he is, a mayor example is how he would usually act towards Phoebe when she doesn’t agree with a fact he knows.

      If each had to be paired together.
      Chandler and Monica... perfect.
      Joey and Rachel actually have a lot in common and genuinely have fun together.
      Ross and Phoebe, I think Phoebe’s open mindedness and sensitivity could help Ross grow as a person. Because Ross is just awful. Unwilling to change, very manipulative, disrespectful of people, and selfish.
      Even with all that, Ross and Phoebe would have balanced each other in some way.
      But you know, if you had to scenario. Ppl should grow on their own, it’s no one else responsible but there is an argument that ppl do help you grow whether each part realizes or not.
      haha Ross and Phoebe are so opposite like Greg and Dharma.
      If they do reboot they should design those types of characters to get together. Odd couples timelessly makes great story line and comedy.

      Being a waitress was a con because the fact that Julie was palaeontologist was a pro (for Julie) as it gave her and Ross more to talk about - it was taken out of context in the list which simply said she was just a waitress (by the sound of it.)
      Ross felt that he was loosing Rachel when her career took hold, especially when Mark entered the scene - he's insecure, as he's lost out to an affair before, so he didn't want to risk another one. He handled it badly, but that's the storyline.

      have u even watched the episode? jesus christ the list and ross's reasons are about twenty times more harmless when u see him make it. the one who is the dickhead here is chandler who makes a shite list.. and comes up with the idea in the first place but cos he is the comic relief of the show he gets away with it

    Excuses that Chandler could have said:
    His diary
    Eulogy for another friend (not from the main six)
    List of Birthdays
    Surprise Party plans
    List of phone numbers
    Something Work related (maybe another Rachel?)

    • @HellenStClair
      @HellenStClair 4 роки тому +7

      When I first saw it, I thought he could just say it was a list of women he would sleep with, maybe Rachel would be too disgusted to question about it...
      But then I think she would hate Chandler forever.
      Also, he should have just acted normal when the thing started printing. She couldn't have known it was the list if he didn' react so desperate like that.
      Lot of possibilities :)
