This music just gives us the feeling horror. You just woke up from a long coma, the world you knew before is destroyed, everyone you cared about may be dead by now, the person you consider your father is dying, you are alone in an island where everyone gave up hope and took their own life and you don't know if there's life across the sea. After you acquire the Falcon, the overworld theme changes to Searching for Friends, a music that gives us hope, despite everything bad that had happened there's still a chance to change the fate of the world by finding your friends scattered across the wasteland and take down Kefka and his reign of tyranny.
This version of the world mimics what Kefka felt and desired: Destruction, desolation and emptiness. He was a sick dog who acquired immense power and wanted to watch everything - himself included - be destroyed, but on his own terms.
A year of a land in ruins that decays amid desolation and the end of hope for the survivors of the cataclysm, fearful of their wicked new God who is always watching them from afar,flaunting his status before all, the source of all the magic left in the world
When I listened to this theme, it felt like a winter blue after Kefka destroyed the world of balance. That's why it's called the dark world. It's just my perception of its theme.
ff7 remake is worse then og tbh, too much corridors and pointless fillers, I hope they don't remake 6 or at least not in the same way (impossible for square enix)
I don't care what anyone says. This right here is some of the darkest stuff you'll ever see in a video game, especially if Cid dies, Celes tries to kill herself, and this theme hits right after. You're totally alone, unaware if most, or any of your friends are truly alive, wandering lifeless land scorched by this worlds new God. I swear I could write an essay on every FF6 song; it's all so complex
0:08 does this motif sound a little like celes theme? Or from somwehre else? I swear it feels so familliar. Also whenever i see dark world, ALTTP comes to my head

This track really conveys the emptiness and lifelessness that kefka brought to the world at this point in the game.
I actually thought of this track abit during the covid-19 pandemic lockdowns

This game jumped from a decently fine game to my top 3 final fantasy games THE MOMENT this song played and I'll never forget it.
Probably one of the saddest moment in the game :(
