Jerry Rice was 38 here. Think about that for a second. How many 38 year old receivers went out and played at all, let alone put up a 1000 yard season? Then he went out the next year and was a borderline All Pro in 2002 turning 40! Anyone that puts Randy Moss or anyone above Jerry Rice needs to slap themselves. And that stickum retort is weak. There isn't a player alive that didn't find some kind of competitive advantage. No amount of stickum helps a WR stay great that long in to their career.
Funny how Gannon's pump fake fumble seems similar to a Tuck Rule situation. Also at 8:00 that looks like a classic Spider 2 Y Banana call with the throw to the FB underneath and a Receiver higher up running the flag.
I remember watching this thriller in bonus coverage live but I haven't seen the full game since then would love to see this classic the whole way through the Chiefs atmospheres back then were amazing before the band left and they stopped playing "We're Gonna Beat the Hell Out of You" during touchdowns.
Kevin Harlan is my absolute favorite commentator. He's the only man on Earth that can make people excited commentating about a squirrel, cat or bunny on the field
Please take me back to 2001 when my Raiders were so much greater than they were. Gannon, Rice, Brown, Garner, Ritchie, Woodson, Janikowski, all those guys were the reason they've reached the Super Bowl. Especially Jon Gruden.
I sure wish NFL Game Pass was like that WWE Network. $10 a month with every game in history on demand. Too bad it only goes back to 2009. I would love to watch the Raiders 2001 season.
That is the single greatest thing that WOULD get me to subscribe to another streaming service. All of the NFL games on HD going back almost 60 years or more....I'm just salivating at the thought!
Other than the Marty and Andy Reid years, the Raiders totally own the Chiefs. Marty was 17-3 against the Raiders. Andy Reid is 18-2 against them. When Marty was hired, the Raiders led the all-time series (over the course of 30 years). When Andy Reid was hired, the Chiefs held just a slight edge in the overall series.
The coaches were more expressive back then! Chuckie 11:22 celebrating like a college coach after a win and Vermill 9:54 bend over disappointed from the interception. You never see that these days.
I'm not a raiders or chiefs fan (broncos🐴). But I do miss being a teenager and watching old school football,CBS football in particular. Would love to be 13 in 2001 all over again. 🏈❤️
I was at this game! Opening Day 2001. Two days later, 9/11 happened. My brother and I got to the stadium late, bought tickets from a scalper for $80 each. 50-yard-line, upper deck. By the time we got to our seats, the Chiefs had already snagged the pick-6 and were up 7-0. Tim Brown had a monstrous game with many clutch catches. Rice looked good in his first game as a Raider but he hadn’t yet earned Gannon’s confidence. Gruden was great as Raiders coach first time around. Right now it seems doubtful that he’ll make Oakland relevant again.
rich gannon had a phd in running grudens O,i wonder if they offered him offensive coordinator if he would take it and help dc4 become as good as he was,of course we need to upgrade our wr
@GStreet71 you sound dumb as hell if you think the Raiders were going for wins this year during Gruden's rebuild. Even people from ESPN can spot that their looking towards the draft and getting draft picks to have Vegas poppin when they movr
The Raiders were so good back then. Well, it's nice to see them finally be good again today. It's too bad they lost to the Chiefs just an hour ago, but the Raiders still have strong playoff hopes.
Honestly I hate the raiders but this is one of the best games I watched with the best tight end of all time tony Gonzalez and the best wr of all time jerry rice and one of the best cornerbacks of all time Charles Woodson this game is really enjoyable
Anyone else think it's crazy how janikowski played with Tim brown and jerry rice and now Carr and cooper? Wow.
This comment did not age good

Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot Also, todays players like Beckham Jr would never be making these amazing one handed catches without the advanced grip gloves.
Tim brown was pretty old too putting up big numbers with just some tape on their fingers no gloves with sticky grip
Exactly Nelson is 33 years old now and is considered all but done?? really?? longevity is a mark of greatness.
Jerry was actually 39
@First Name Last Name what stats? Rice leads ineverything
young jinakowski in the back,
raider nation! hes the all time leader in points for the raiders. all those field goals
9:42 Gannon to Tim Brown, that pass was a thing of beauty.

that old school CBS theme.
Yes! These raiders are what made me love the team. Brown and rice are legends
What a great time to see this video with Gruden coming back as coach today!!
Kevin Harlan commentating a game involving his future CBS partner Rich Gannon

Watching this made me fumble my phone. It’s contagious
4:40 funny how the tuck rule doesn't count for Gannon

Exactly my thought. Not bitter at all after 20 years...
Ahhh I remember the gold old days.

Garner is criminally underrated. 1900 yards @ 7.0 per touch.
#Chiefs champions!
I will always have so much respect for Rice man even at his age he went out there and showed out for the Raiders.
Jerry porter days

Old men Rice & Brown duo was nice!
Look at Sebastian Janakowski! His rookie year!!!!
Nah this is his sophomore year Janikowski had a really disappointing rookie year
+Skyler A Yeah I'm watching the game he's a beast now but he really struggled his rookie season
1st round worthy? No. Never.
what a beast
Bad Cornflakes he was drafted in 2000 this was his 2nd year

I Have A Jerry Rice Jersey 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐐
17 years later and I'm still cheering
@7:54 spider 2 y banana for the td. That's why gruden was so pumped. Lol
Vermeil and Gruden aged really well in the past 15 years. Football must keep them young
Yeah
Amen to that
Jerry rice is the greatest football player wver
I miss those days.
For real and I dont get emotional over a Ton of things back when people barley even knew lsu football
I totally forgot Rice went to the Raiders. Crabtree does the same years later.
mrghost3601 and the broncos
However, he'd never play an actual game for Denver, retiring during the summer camp.
SuperPat88 I watched him play in the preseason against the Texans in their first game. He retired before the season started though
Alphonse Blackwood because he didnt want to be 3rd string
I miss those raider days like crazy...

@04:39, "Tuck" rule or arm going forward...same year.
The Raiders have been the legacy of the NFL.

13yr olds today may be saying that about Pat Maholmes my guy
Wish Oakland has this team for next Sunday!!
I never seen a 39 year old position player dominate how Jerry Rice did...the other would be Karrem Abdul Jabbar and George Foreman.
pretty much
Back when football was interesting
That was nice game brown and rice dominating like that
janakowski been in the league forever god damn lol
Ian Martinez He's a kicker what do you expect?
Ian Martinez so has wisnewski lol. Janikowski had a MONSTER LEG

tony Gonzalez was with the chiefs before he go to the falcons. man lots of hall of fame players here.
Give Tony Dungy his Superbowl ring

Brown played a much better game. Both guys had 8 catches, but Brown's went for 136 yards and a TD. Rice totalled just 88 yards and no TDs.
