Hello sir. You have made very very educative videos I have watched most of them and they were all very informative. Just a thing ...here emi in emi/rfi stands for electromagnetic interference. Thank you for sharing such wonderful videos sir!!!
thanks a lot yes it is Electromagnetic interference. sometimes some words are pronounced wrongly because while recording many things are to be kept in mind
@@HaseebElectronics I really understand sir and appreciate your super efforts... It's just that I wanted to let you know about the same. Because you have viewers all over the world. God bless you sir!!
Excellent, as usual. What happens if a 1.5KV spike arrives to an X3 capacitor? Does the cap go short/open? Or simply it doesn't do its job? (and doesn't damage itself)
special thanks x3 capacitor have "peak impulse voltage" less than 1.2 KV. it means 1200 volt is the highest limit of peak. above this it have to fly away. as its operating voltage range might be 150 or 275 volt etc. while working if it receives peaks of 1.2KV and the MOV is unable to remove it, then this safety capacitor will end. as its basic responsibility is to bypass high frequency please accept my best regards
welcome and special thanks now it is correct time to discuss it's calculations because I was waiting for this video, so when we have a good idea about some circuit then we can do it
if the class X capacitor is devalued, it may cause to generate ringing action and it may cause to add jittering in frequency, any may fail to start the ic or may cause to fluctuate
Hi. I would like to thank you for teaching us. I have tried to repair a power supply. I have checked t voltage at the capacitor after rectifier. I am not getting 332 dc volt. I'm getting 224 volt dc. I checked x and y capacitor both were damaged. I replaced both but still getting 224 volts not 332 volt. Can you suggest what other components might have failed?
One of the best explanation on youtube. It is very helpful to people who search it. But missing information, X class without internal fuse, so that if fail will short the terminal and Y class with internal fuse so that if fail will open terminal (internal fuse blown). Salam
best regards. class x or class y stages are added after fuse, if a continuous strike of pulses arrive and it exceeds than the mov limits, and the LC filter reaches in ringing factor so it will increase the filter current and the class X capacitor have to short internally, so it must blow away the fuse. this ringing factor may happen due to external electromagnetic interference or something wrong in smps switching section
@@HaseebElectronics It is correct for X type. But for Y there is internal fuse. That is main different with X type. X type is actually same cap as any other cap. The different is Y cap which has internal fuse. Not all GND has good connection to allow amount current flow to blow mains fuse. And it can create danger of shock at chassis. It is different case with X which has full current when fail. You can check at many explanation by googling it.
Masya'allah, thank you for this vid n lesson. I've been wondering the same thing as I came accross these 2 types of caps but never really knew their practical uses. it depends on, what was the actual value of the previous capacitor. if the capacitance is closer to the original value, then it can be used, if there is a big difference, then it will not useful, may be it will not work properly or may be EMI filter can move in "ringing" so it can damage the next circuit
@@HaseebElectronics actually, the circuit is a 5V 5A smps (a cheap one). It never had a X cap but there's a place for it. Power supply was burnt, I'm trying to fix it. It has blown fuse and two shorted rectifier diodes (1N4007). I'm checking other components for any damage.
Thank u for this video. Among all electronic video on UA-cam your video i love most. Thanks for that. As I know for AC cap provide close path for current, while blocking DC. Then why these cap doesn't make short circuit. From kolkata. Sandy
