Thank you eNCA for a fantastic interview. Thank you President Mbeki for staying true to serving South Africa and your honest and, not so easy to admit, truth that you seek and speak. As always your advice is pragmatic and clear. I sincerely hope our current leadership takes your advice to heart and acts on it. I am confident an Arab spring will never happen here.

Some people hate the fact that Thabo Mbeki is a highly disciplined leader and member of the ANC who is still in the ANC even after they have humiliated him with the hope he will disappear so that they can destroy ANC and SA without disturbances!
Also, the same people hate the fact that this man has always been honest about the rot in the ANC regardless of how the criticism will be received by theif in the ANC.
People have heartache with the fact that this man is the best African President we have ever had. He is the best because he recognises his failures and mistakes and take responsibility, unlike others who have always projected themselves as victims. I'm talking about O " wenzeni U Zuma".
In 2012 this man warned the country about future it's fading future and now all government entities and departments have collapsed.
In 2017 he further told ANC that the membership is weak, they don't know ANC. Hence urgent implementation of ANC renewal.

Love this interview especially with one that also wore the shoes of President... however, as youth, the ANC is in trouble as we vote ANC due to the way we were raised by our parents, ANC gave our parents freedom that they fought for hence u will find our Gogo's voting ANC and telling their children to do so aswell, but now we are living in different times, and our now struggle is different from those that came before us. The ANC is now comfortable since they won the struggle to liberate, but if they don't restructure and listen to the youth, our struggle will now become the ANC and ours will be won when we take them out of our way...just my opinion

Besides the political, economic and social policy blunders which were designed during Thabo Mbeki's reign that are too numerous to mention here( Moeletsi Mbeki points too these eloquently elsewhere), the ANC has no discipline and some of these policies like BEE, Cadre Deployment and the electoral system are the root causes of their failure and a recipe for corruption. The narrative that the ANC is good at diagnosis is misguided. The ANC is quick to point to the symptoms and admit they are responsible but never to the causes which are systemic.

Why do you think the Nationalist party no longer exists - all opposition was decimated by the ANC. You yourself have praised Thabo for achieving economic growth, where was Apartheid legacy when he did that? Matter of fact, BEE was a recipe for disaster, remember that when Thabo was challenged about the potential problems of BEE he argued in favor of trickle -down economy taking care of Apartheid legacy that you now invoke as a defense. As for the DA they have been too happy with ANC policies until the ANC went too far with corruption. Theirs was just to give the ANC a semblance of democracy.

There’s a reason why late President Mandela had Mr Mbeki has his deputy and later his successor. He may have made a few mistakes just like any president, including the likes of Barrack Obama but Mr Mbeki is still a highly principled man who wanted to serve his people to the best that he could and the type of president South Africa needed and still needs today. Never forget that Mr Mbeki was one of many who saw Zuma’s true colours very early and as a result dismissed Zuma as the deputy president after his first corruption allegations emerged but unfortunately the cancerous and greed fuelled Zuma allies within saw that the corruption taps would soon run dry after Zuma’s departure and they would soon starve. Thuus they made it their vindicated mission to get Mr Mbeki out of power and put Zuma back into power but this time as the president, so that those very same corruption taps would flow again and the rest is obviously the history of state capture as we know of it today.

ANC must be voted out and cannot be given another chance. That would be playing with our lives and the lives of our children and grand children.Going forward whoever forms government must devolve services including police, planning, rails so that services can resume and so that locals can eliminate criminals among them that are out of control..Provinces should be allowed to restore the death death sentence if they so deam fit to root out crime in their neighborhoods.

Let's stick to facts boet. Zuma was initially a stalwart and got to lead in KZN because of his service. It was a mistake way back then, but Zuma only proved to be the doos he is in later years. Only if ANC could allow the veterans to give them guidance a lot of problems we are facing today could be fixed. Media tried in this interview to play dirty however I adore how smart the former president is he did not become impulsive to retaliate when they bring the loadshedding issue to highlight that it started from him, and he gave the context of the issue breaking it down to finer details. However, we need wise people like Thabo Mbeki to come together and address the issues of this country because our people the electors do not know they are used as puppet so when we can the public figure something will sink into both parties.
