This answered my question about whether or not to slide the air scale underneath the frame. Thanks! It would help if this were specified more clearly on the air scale or documentation.
No matter how much air I put in or take out….my sand only ever falls in a horizontal line. No peaks or designs. Mine is round and did not come with a scale. I’ve played with it for hours. It never changes despite the change in air.
i got my first kb collection movie s 'aurora borealis sand picture and absolutely adore it. i have had many before but always the cheap Chinese ones with no air regulator. i also had no sand scale and was wondering if you could help me obtain one?. or give me directions where to download one to print??..
Each KB collection sand art has a specific air scale. Please e-mail me at chrisw@pitkinstearns.com with your model name (Deep Sea, Window, Horizon, etc) and I can help you. Congrats on getting the best sand art in the world. I think you will see a big difference as compared to the Chinese knockoffs.
Break up the bubbles. Get all the air at the top and then thrust the frame into the palm of your hand. Usually, this breaks up the bubbles. Of course, I can only speak to our KB collection sand art. There are other makes that use too much soap or have different mediums (liquid).
Same principle, Cindy. Point the air hole towards the ceiling with all the sand at the bottom. You will see the round part of the air scale that will conform perfectly with the round part of the glass of the Deep Sea. This round line should go along where the frame meets the glass (not on top of the frame for example). If you see your water line start above the air scale line, you need to add air. If you see the water line start below the air scale line, you need to remove air. You want your water line (the line that separates where the air ends and the water starts) to be perfectly on the air scale line.
i have the Black Beauty. Same with me, no matter how much air I take out or add, it either will not come down or it falls to fast. I have the scale and adjusted it several times and it just does not work. Very disappointed.

I’m so completely in love with my Horizon Walnut the adult version for a magic window kid ❤️
The Magic Window introduced so many people to sand pictures. Now, welcome to sand art! The KB collection sand art. Thanks for your kind comment.
