PLEASE do more shows tracing Native American Ancestry!
Yall ain't native. There isn't much. Calm down and stop believing the BS.
There are more UK who are native mixed from genuine horrible history than any American.
And that's less than 1%
If yall really cared, you'd show up to us. Not look in the mirror twirling 🙄
This one was so interesting! Dear Matouski what a fascinating lady.
He's a professional dancer from the UK version of Dancing With The Stars.
Dancing with the Stars is the US version of the original Strictly Come Dancing.
@@nicolad8822Who cares?
Do you mean Strictly?
@@lilithanondudule7851 Yes.
@@magbarcoe1277strictly was 2004. Dancing with the stars was 2005(when strictly was in its 3rd series
Just to blow your minds people there is an Australian version of this too! Aussie rules footballers and cricketers you’ve never heard of. Probably many other versions not even in English! Shocker!
Haha. 🇦🇺
Yes! My Dad's Grandparents are buried at Karrakatta cemetery in Perth. I'm from Essex, England. Everyone's history is interesting!
Actually I can see it in him when he really smiles
Looking forward to watching this one tonight 9pm bbc1 .. love watching Kevin
It was very moving? I’d have liked a bit more on how his Gt Grandmother came to travel to the UK, it was usually the other way round. Will try to look it up.
@@nicolad8822Same here!
@@nicolad8822 I know quite moving.. one very strong lady .. xx
Lovely ancestry!!!
Kinda, british colonisation is generally barbaric
I live in Canada but it's the continent of North America. The term has evolved from indian to indigenous to first nations peoples here. We wouldn't use the term native american but the brits do. People here will self identify as cree or dakota or dene or sioux on the prairies. My 4th great grandmother was first nations but I wouldn't claim that as my heritage. That's a very sensitive subject here.
I don’t think they used Native American in the programme, just in this title. I don’t think he was claiming it as his heritage, but if I knew I had this history I could still be proud of her survival and interested in knowing more.
I am Cree from Sucker Creek First Nations, Metis and British ancestry. You are right about claiming Indigenous identity as a sensitive topic especially as many of our parents, grandparents ect were denied the rights to this for over a hundred years. I live in the UK now and I have met a couple of people who have Indigenous ancestry from both Canada and USA. They don't claim to be Indigenous but are very proud to have that in their bloodline like others who are proud to have been connected to a royal family members hundreds of years ago. I see it as being quite the same
There's a big difference between a 4th great grandmother and a first generation great grandmother. After 4 generations you're barely native anymore.
The lady expert at Fort York is such a lovely lady
Many people don't realize how we are connected globally. Read some of the comments:)
Please show them in order. We Americans don't even know who he is.
So? I watch the American version not knowing who many of them are. Doesn’t take away from the story.
We Brits don't know yours either!
Google is your friend.
It is in order - it's a new series in the UK, with a British star we all recognise! He also has a fascinating native Canadian ancestor. You might find the story interesting if you actually watched it, if not why comment?
@@suecondon1685 There is a good chance that I didn't get the notification for the intro segment for this man. I never said it wasn't interesting. Actually, it is one of the most interesting segments I've ever seen! No need to get snarky. Have a good day!
FLUSH
wow, did this man hurt you?
proven native american more than high-cheekbone liz warren
Wasn't his ancestor indigenous? I don't think indigenous peoples of Canada are known as native Americans.....
They're First Nations in Canada. They mentioned Chippawa- I know there are some in Wisconsin.
@@jenniferdaniels701 But these are in Canada. So they are First Nations aka Indigenous Canadian. Americans don’t realize that Matouski, as a Cree woman, living in the Northern reaches of what was then Upper Canada would not have been “American”. Nor would she have considered herself as “Canadian” (or British”, for that matter). She wouldn’t even have considered herself to be “Indian” because that was a term used by whites as a an umbrella term for the Indigenous peoples on North, Central, and South America, aka The Americas… She would have identified herself by her tribal affiliations, not even as “Cree”.
How tribal would she have been? It was well into the 19th century with a few generations of mixing and settling? They were baptising them in the church, teaching them to read and write in English and French. They would have been marrying partners also of mixed heritage.
The Indigenous nation his ancestor is from is not "native American". How come they can get it right on the show and you can't?
I’ve never heard of this person. I’ve been in touch with shows all my life and I’m 55 years old and the last 10 people on the show I’ve never heard of. Where do they get them from? The producers of the show must use people they know and their age group. I have a feeling someone’s making a lot of money by going back and showing old shows.
What country are you in....? .. he's in west end atm this is the British one who do you think you are .... when they put American one up... I literally have no idea who some are do don't watch them
This is the British version of WDYTYA.
This is a brand new show from the latest UK series. The UK is where this whole series started. Get over yourself.
Does it matter if you know them or not if the story is interesting? I see people all the time commenting that they wish this was open to everybody. Your comment proves why it is not.
How rude, I assume you're American. Kevin is famous in the UK, and his story is fascinating. Oh well, your loss.
Yall only care about us when you get to yam about a great geandmother that went thru things you shouldnt celebrate...
Ya never show up.
Ever.
