rbagel55 you can be like your father and fly the a4 in DCS :) you just need a PC since the flight sim and the A4 is free
@@fritzkeller5629 Yeah I know. The Skyhawk is a well made bird and many of them are still airworthy. I couldn't afford it though, nor could I afford the jet fuel. Maybe I might get an ultralight!
The A-4 was truly the best bargain in the history of military aviation. Proud to have been given the opportunity to serve with the E and F models during my USN years.
Especially when you consider "project kahu" it was when the RNZAF upgraded their Skyhawks to be a fairly competitive 3rd gen fighter. 140 Million nz or about 85 million usd for 22 of them

An absolutely fantastic jet that served this nation well through many years. My father flew F-105's during the Vietnam War and he said he would of loved to have been able to fly the A-4.
Would have been nice to have that avionics package back when I was training in the Scooter. :) What a great flying plane. Just like driving a sports car. So smooth and responsive. Loved coming in to Pensacola on the visual for the brake. YeeHaw!
Great vids! I was fortunate enough to get about 45 hours in the Scooter in Beeville back in the early 90s. Wasn't a pilot - just a lucky enlisted guy who hitched a lot of rides and got a bunch of stick time. Best roll rate of anything I've flown!
AMH2 in Kingsville, Tx (VT-22) from 1969 - 1973. Caught many rides in the back seat of a scooter including maintenance test hops, local training flights when the instructor was flying solo and cross-country hops around the US. That was over 50 years and I still dream about flying the mighty TA4J. 🇺🇸
Great Video!!! I really like the view. Being able to see your hands on the controls is great!! I love the part where your pulling to many G's for the camera mount lol.
Great video! I was lucky to see the Blue Angels fly A-4's at Confederate Air Fore airshow in Harlingen, TX.. 1976 I think. Great plane, always looked like it fit a pilot like a glove.
Don't remember the A4 Cockpit looking like this. Of course, the last time I was inside an an A4 Cockpit was in Viet Nam in 1965 so I'm sure there were some changes made. Hey, why don't you check out the VMA 225 You Tune Channel, when you get a chance. Lots of Video's and Slide Shows of A4's at Cherry Point, West Pac and Viet Nam ( 1963-1965 ).

Which A-4 is this? While in the Navy, I worked on the TA-4J, A-4L, A-4E, and A-4F. The latter being the "Super Fox" with the P-408 engine. That was with VFC-13. Two of the squadron birds were former Blue Angels. They could accelerate going vertical! And at full military power inside the "hush house" at Miramar...WOW!!!!
Nice glass panel. Looks like a Garmin GTN-750 com/nav/GPS on the right and maybe a Garmin G600 EFIS on the left with the MFD on the left half of the display and PFD on the right half (normally the other way around). Actually after a second look I'm not 100% sure the EFIS is Garmin. (I'm an avionics technician by trade).
Fly Guy Toph In the early 1980s I was an avionics technician on A-4 Super Fox (F models). I think I could still take one apart in my sleep. It is a great simple machine. With the smart munitions of today and updated avionics this inexpensive design would be perfect for our troubles in the middle east. No need for 200 million dollar stealth jets. Best Blue Angles shows were flown in the Skyhawk.
The music is completely unnecessary and takes away rather than adds to the video. Nobody plays "A-4 cockpit" video for the music. For us, the sound of the engine is better than any music.

The A-4 and F-5 would have made a great air to ground and air to air team. Too bad Northrop and Grumman didn't collaborate to produce a carrier capable variant of the F-5 instead of the larger, more expensive F/A-18.
