On April, 24th 2015 we were invited to the international press driving event of the all new 2015 Skoda Superb Sedan to Firenze, Italy. Our test car was a 2015 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 150 hp Sedan with the Laurin&Klement option line. In our in-depth review we present you the 2015 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 150 hp Sedan as detailed as possible. Dont let people get you down about your English; its good that you speak it and give people both versions. I can only hope to speak as well and clearly as you when I learn German. Keep up the detailed reviews; in English and German, of course.
Now I've trawled through loads of reviews for various cars and have seen some pretty good ones at that. I must be honest and say that the easy and relaxed way that this review was conducted was spot on. Informative, detailed although long kept me glued to the screen. With regard to the strong German accent, having previously lived in Germany for four years can quite honestly say that you speak better English than I speak German but also that you speak better English than some English people I know. I am looking for another car and have decided to buy a 2016 2.0 Tdi L&K 150bhp, having test driven one already find myself bitten by the Superb bug. Thank you for a great review.

These cars are coming to the UK in August/Sept so I am looking forward to seeing them in showrooms soon. I think the Superb will be the main competitor to the Mondeo in the UK on price and specification as the new Passat looks to be more expensive and upmarket now. Thank you for a great review.

Great review for my favorite Skoda ever. And the best looking FWD sedan at this time in my opinion. Had they covered the bare colored metal on the inner door frames it would be literally perfect given the price but not an issue with neutral or dark paints. I am actually considering getting one if I manage to make some space in my already crowded garage ^^

Can the rear glass privacy screen be raised using a button from the driver's side? Or is it manually done like both the smaller privacy screens on both the rear doors?

myvolvoforlife Thank you very much. I hate to disappoint you, but right now, I am driving a 1995 Opel Corsa B mit 45 hp (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Corsa) as my private car. I got this car as a present last year and it only had 20'000 km on it. Buying a nice car, does not make sense for me, as I am away on driving events at least 1/3 of a month and I do have test cars at home quite often (last year all the time). Besides that I have a 72 Citroen DS (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citro%C3%ABn_DS) in my garage that I did not get to drive in the last three years due a lack of time and in my front yard a 1960 Fiat 500 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_500) is waiting for some love and to be kissed awake. Even the Corsa fullfills all my needs, I am right now dreaming about getting a Mercedes 250 C / W114 from the Seventies (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W114) as a daily driver, but as I said, this is pretty pointless as I hardly drive my private cars. Really in depth & very nicely detailed loved the driving aspect you showed.
Also, what about the overall build quality that we expect from German cars is it there? Or they are trying to cut some corners here & there to keep it value for money

Ausfahrt.tv That's quite reassuring coming from a reputed journalist like you. It's one of the reviews which was really in depth covered all aspects perfectly even the color changing ambient lightning but I think you forgot the ice scrapper in the fuel cap instead only the one review. Also, if you can comment about the fuel efficiency in the comments and the sportiness of ride compared to some of it's competition in the sport mode of DCC, it was showing 10.4l/100 kms in the vid but you said it was resetted so if you can throw some light on the efficiency figures.

HEMANG SHARMA We mostly do not have enough time to drive the cars on press events in a way that might give us a good idea about fuel consumption. The 10.4 l/100 km shown in the display result from a 500m drive. But since the 150 hp Diesel is used in quite a few other Volkswagen company cars, you might wonna check on other resources about real figures concerning the fuel consumption. [Jan]

Jan, do you think that Superb is better than Passat? I have the chance to buy both cars for almost the same price. The difference would be only around 300 EUR.
Somehow, I find the side view, especially the rear window design reminds me of the Lexus LS460. Looks like a sedan but instead this new Superb is a 5 door fastback. Looking forward to see the Estate version.

Thanks, but the question was: does it come with a FULL SIZE spare? I can't tell from the video whether it's a space saver, or a full size spare. If it comes with a space saver, is there at least room to store a full size spare?
+Greg Sullivan To answer my own question - over here in Australia, at least, it only comes with a steel, speed limited space saver spare, and the dealer said there is insufficient room for a full size spare. Bugger.

Thankyou for such a detailed review. Just one little question - I can't quite understand what you said at time 24:13. "(something) large shape", or "(something) like shape"? Are you saying that people like the shape, so we have to put up with the lack of headroom?

Ah ha! Thanks. :) Yes, as a limo driver, I am very frustrated with the current trend to make all cars look like sports cars. The old fashioned "boxy" shape, with tall and vertical windows, has more space and better visibility. For cars that spend most of their time travelling slowly in the city, aerodynamics is not important. Old fashioned narrow pillars are also safer for town cars, due to the improved visibility. Ok too bad if it ever rolls, but the chances of a town car rolling are very low. Looking to get the 220bhp 2.0 petrol auto. On lease when my current lease expires in July. It is either the 2.0 petrol auto or the Ford Mondeo 2.0 Titanium 230 bhp. Any advice? And btw your review is very good and your English is excellent for a native German speaker.
+Imran Khan Thank you very much. I personally would choose the Skoda Superb over the Mondeo unless you really enjoying US cars. We had the Modeo as a sedan and I personally was not so please. The Skoda however with the adaptive damper system should be a very good choise for bad road conditions. [Jan]

I agree with you on the nice design, good space outlay and many updates. The car would do better with a V-8 or equip with a BMW 335d engine. Innovation like auto-parking technology from Ford, AWD, full automated air suspension and aggressive body kit to be include as extra options will make it an attractive commodity in the world market....
I'm a limo driver spending most of my time crawling along in heavy city traffic, and I welcome these small efficient engines, just as long as they are not *too* noisy. I'm sure they won't be AS quiet as a big V8, but I am willing to compromise, and I think passengers understand that efficiency is more important these days, and will also be a bit forgiving.

asifhecares All three engine options available here in Oz - the 162kW & 206kW petrol, and the diesel (forget the power 14?kW). After more test drives, I came to the conclusion that the petrol engines were actually ok - it was mainly the general road rumble over less than pristine surfaces, and general outside noise, that bothered me. If they could improve the sound insulation I'd have another look. In any case I pick up my brand new 6.2L V8 Holden Caprice tomorrow, so Skoda have about 5 years to make some improvements. :)
