The MOZA MOIN Camera has quickly turned into a controversial product, being surrounded by a lot of issues at launch, accompanied by some weird reviews masking them, or quite the opposite - some rants which are focusing too much on the weaknesses.
While I try to present you a lot more balanced story, there still are a lot of things that the MOZA MOIN Camera needs to get better at (firmware!), and bunch of them which I don't think are fixable - since they are purely hardware disadvantages.
Being a big fan of MOZA products it was quite tough for me to make this video, and there's plenty that you need to see...

As always awesome and honest review! This is why I love your channel and you as UA-camr.. not many people left out there that are not biased and tell just the bottom line honest truth, thank you for that! From all my experience and gimbals that I have used to date, I find the Fimi Palm 2 the overall best (aside from low-light performance).. best battery life, great stabilization, awesome battery life, great extra-wide angle lens and compact form factor. I think things will stay the same till DJI (or someone else) releases a compact gimbal that features a better and (hopefully) bigger sensor, while keeping the same form factor and the price in check. Yeah, the Fimi Palm is totally a lot better in almost any way you can think of! And currently - impossible to beat in terms of price-performance ratio. DJI is DJI and ... don't think they will go down about price. Guess our hope is that other gimbal-makers will figure out a way to design something cool.

The audio was actually pretty clear surprisingly however very quiet, it's the closest in audio quality to the Pocket compared to all the other similar products but Pocket end of the day just has a far superior internal mic and audio.
For me it's the audio which swings it to which device I would get, I don't want to have to fuss about whether or not it can take an external mic, does it work with non powered, do you need an adapter, how bulky is it with the external mic ect.
The screen as you said just looks so flimsy and I can imagine that breaking very quickly leaving your device almost useless
Yeah, I also liked the microphone quality. Good attempt by Moza. I hope to see a second generation of it.
Good review. I have a Pocket 1 and do have difficulty working with the VERY small screen (I am old, with poor eyesight). I hope that DJI will consider a new camera that has this type of larger, fold-out screen and bright in sunlight.
Hey, thanks for the comment. I am a bit younger but I also find it challenging to use the small screen. But there is a way to mount your phone and use it as a reference screen.
@@TechMishka Yes. I am determined to try it using the phone connected to the little adapter. Unfortunately, my case on my phone needs to be removed as it does not connect solidly with the case on. But I think I will get better video doing this. It would be nice to have an integrated quality screen like the Moza Moin from DJI. I would not mind the slightly larger size.
Looks good but once you open the display screen the handle becomes shorter, you don't have a good grip. Overall all it will serve your requirements. Thanks for sharing

I kind of like the camera . Not even close to Pocket 2 but it's not too bad. I especially like how it looks. Big screen, kind of like the traditional handycams .

The good thing about this device is that someone is prepared to rethink the form factor a bit - a gimbal camera doesn't have to be a pocket camera (and it was pretty dumb of them to use that name to begin with). Rumour has it that DJI are developing a premium device which has some of the attributes of a DSLR mounted on a gimbal, but all in one piece and smaller and lighter than that. There are all sorts of possibilities in that direction. But it's a shame that Moza has really made a mess of this device - as you point out, some things won't be fixable in firmware. Where things can be fixed, they should have done that before putting it out for reviews and taking orders. Very bad marketing - you can't get away with selling mutton dressed up as lamb these days. The market is currently well covered by DJI Pocket 2 and, for those wanting something cheaper but not too bad, the Fimi Palm 2. New products have to improve on either of those, or there's no point in bringing them to market. Thanks for your thoughtful review!

Price is down to $99, now. I love the screen size and flip-out function.
99 is already a good price for what this camera is worth.
It's priced lower than the DJI Pocket 2 because specs-wise it is one generation behind, i.e. it's equivalent to the Osmo Pocket (1/2.3", 12 MP sensor). One thing that stands out though, is that the Moza Moin claims to have 120° FOV, which is significantly wider than the DJI Pocket 2 at 93° (or with its 110° wide angle accessory lens).

The wider FOV is nice. You may check Fimi Palm, which also has wider FOV.
How do I get sound when I record
it automatically records audio using the in-built microphone. Then you can hear the recording on a PC or smartphone.

that is wrong .. I had DJI phantom 2 and it had battery circuit issue which effected 2 batteries and very common for all users... my DJI osmo mobile 3 motor issue which all users are facing .. just search DJI osmo mobile motor error. DJI stopped supporting any of old devices and all those became e-waste .

Snoppa is a company that makes camera gear and mostly crowdfund it.
They have designed the vMate last year, and it is another GoPro alternative. But is full of issues.
I was lucky to have my unit (almost) without issues, but they keep on annoying people with bad firmware updates.

@@TechMishka, thanks! Now I'm glad I haven't heard of them! Haha 😂 In general, this thing with the crowdfunded technology is a bit odd to me. If there was a way to make a good product, a big, rich company with many skilled engineers would make it. Most of the ideas on crowdfunding websites are bad or too much of a challenge for unexperienced small companies.
