- Up here in Southern New England, there is no better time to target giant striped bass in the surf than the period between the new moons in/around the beginning and end of June. These 40-some-odd days offer some of the best big bass fishing of the year. How many nights can you fish this year?

New moon / lowest peak tide.. this year August is the 3rd lowest level which August 1st is the new moon. Lowest tide and tide running buzzards bay to cape cod bay.. that day is lowest level of water that day forward on the rise each day after increases the bite and blitz..
Boutta have a moon on November 9th sometimes around then and that’s when I’m heading out
Could you please tell me how to set a circle hook when using live eels for bait? I am currently doing something wrong and I am missing 50 percent of my fish
If you’re snelling your own hooks, look for videos on how to do it properly, so that the line is interacting with the hook in a way that sets the tension in the right direction for hook set. With the wrong configuration, you could assist the hook in leaving the fishes mouth. (Make sure the video you use refers to the exact type of eyelet on your hook.)
Aside from that, you shouldn’t be “setting” a circle hook. Just reel in, or hold tight, once you feel the weight of the fish, and the hook will set itself.
If you ARE trying to set the hook in the traditional way, you’re likely ripping the bait and hook right out of the fishes gullet.

Nice video, but dose this mean anglers should only fish New Moon tides and forget about fishing when there is a Full Moon?

New moons are when the moon is least illuminated- when it's the darkest. This is opposite of the full moon, which is when it's brightest. You can find these on calendars online. If you Google "moon calendar by City" you'll get hits. Hope that helps.
