Pursuing 50: #6 My Surf Setup
Sometimes I forget the simple things, I go straight to the technical and cerebral and I forget that the tools we use and their efficiency, durability and power are major players in the quest for ultimate success in the surf. After receiving a few questions about my setup I decided to dedicate a video to my rig. Feel free to comment below with questions.

Fly25 Video #2: You can't dictate to the fish
Переглядів 4755 років тому
In this installment of the "Fly25" In-Pursuit series, I am taking a look at a simple fishing philosophy: you can't will fish to hit your lure/plug/fly. We don't get to dictate to the fish. If you always remember, this you will be much better off as an angler. If you have missed the details of this "In Pursuit", check out the link here: www.outflowfishing.com/blog/fl...

Pursuing 50: #4 Bait Makes The Spot
Переглядів 2,7 тис.5 років тому
Striper fishermen have a very specific image of what species should be considered baitfish; herring, bunker, mackerel, sand eels... etc. But this profile of 'acceptable bait species' puts the average fisherman at a distinct disadvantage because it neglects to consider the baits that are reliably present. Herring, bunker and the like are transient, always on the move, and can't be relied upon to...

Outflow Fishing Presents: The One Hook Solution. Rigging Saltwater Lures For Use With One Hook
Переглядів 8 тис.5 років тому
The Striped Bass is, at the moment, over-fished. It's clear now we have to all do our part to help protect this beloved fish for future generations. In lieu of this information, Dave and I have put together a solution to let the saltwater angler modify any lure to work with only 1 front treble hook. Here, we detail how to use small "bullet" or "worm" weights to keep all plugs working as origina...
Pursuing 50: #2 Chasing The Ghost
Переглядів 1,7 тис.5 років тому
In the second installment of this season-long challenge, Dave Anderson explains the concept of 'chasing the ghost'. Because we never get to actually see what we're trying to catch we're going in, completely on faith. But thinking of that next giant fish as a ghost also simplifies the quest, it makes it a singular adversary and the quest takes on the feel of a one on one competition. The most im...
Could you please tell me how to set a circle hook when using live eels for bait? I am currently doing something wrong and I am missing 50 percent of my fish
We hit the canal at the wrong time once. Had to go from sandwich to BB against the current. Out boat only went 8knots max. People walking the canal passed us multiple times. Including a family pushing the grandma in a wheelchair
Great vid gentlemen and very relatable experiences with having a hook disengage mid fight.
Great video. How come this video isn't written about more often? This should be a segment in The Fisherman Magazine every fall season.

Another benefit of one hook is that when the back hook does not stick in outside of the fish's head, it often damages the leader as the fish twists and turns. When this happens the line feels as if it's being plucked like a guitar string. When you feel that plucking, you can check your leader and see the damage.
Boutta have a moon on November 9th sometimes around then and that’s when I’m heading out
throw them all back boys. don't support charters that go out with 10 guys in the boat and kill 10 stripers. just don't do it, shame [within reason] people who do, and the fishery will rebound. if there must be a slot it should be 28-28.5". cheers boys, tight lines and no injuries this year.
It seems that all the junkies know the good spots for fishing. Every time I go at night I see at least 1. Stay safe
Foil tape 💡
So I'm going to paint my plugs with Blackfish and sea Bass colors and patterns with one front hook 💯 ty for the info and good luck
Spot on .
Great video .well are hooked on the lips with a single book and are 15 " and longer . I use single trebled with all my wood and use inline singles with my plastic swimmers
Fishing bottleneck areas is a hugely underrated, and underutilized tactic for migrating fish. I fished most of my life in the western LI Sound, and guys would roll their eyes at me when they saw my boat heading further west into the East River in May/June. I called it ghetto fishing, or prison fishing (Rikers Island) because it was, but that area gave me my best chance at really big fish in May and June. Enjoying your videos by the way!
WItam Serdecznie! Wszystko dokladnie obejrzane. Świetny Film! Wszystko dodane! Zapraszam do Mnie ! Pozdrawiam! Ekipa Dzik Fishing !
Stripers are predators of our endangered salmon, steelhead and trout. I suggest bonking and eating every one you land.
You're an idiot, they're talking about New England/North East
I kill every striper I land because they eat endangered salmonids here on the West coast. Stripers are an invasive species on West coast.
If you make plugs that are "balanced" properly for single tail hooks, and sell them with the appropriate sized hook I'll buy them.
Eye opener for sure. Thanks!
I liked the video and also the channel..I subscribed to your channel
Get your high hook dinner catcher and biggie clipped on!
Weird that I stumbled upon this today...my local back bay was loaded with these lil fellas last night.
Thank you for sharing your tip.
Ahab...New Beige
Love my 1321m. Have an old one from the 80's that I just had rebuilt with modern components, and I honestly couldn't ask for a better all around rod. I've even thrown the GRS troller on it (with a lob of course) and she handles it fine. Team Lami all the way!
This a great video, thank you. a similar method I use is to cut the hooks of the rear treble and leave the shank on the plug. I have also used this method on the the 7inch Cotton Cordell PP belly hook when Bluefish are in , alos swapping the rear treble with a siwash hook. I found keeping the shank on the belly balances the plug on the cast.
Nice video, but dose this mean anglers should only fish New Moon tides and forget about fishing when there is a Full Moon?
Lmao" fukkin snappah" I'm happy to be a masshole
Great video guys. I started doing this on some plugs a few years ago when I noticed a lot of belly hook hookups and that would leave the tail hook in the side of the fishs head or swinging around wildly when trying to unhook. Im gonna give those weights a shot on more plugs this year. This will absolutely help keep mortality rates down. Keep spreading the good word!
Since I`m disable I don`t make my fly`s to sell so I will go with the cheaper hooks . Thanks for the video .
When's the next installment? Loving the Pursuit for 50
Hi Dave im head to the canal tomorrow have been looking at the double star you were talking about. do you want to be closer to the sandwich end of the canal for the breaking tide ?
He won't tell you,you have too figure it out yourself bud.
I been telling everyone I come across to remove the back hooks or just keep a siwash on back if blues are around but wouldn't mind picking up one of your cousins lures I like the concept
Mikes custom (Mikes Custom Plugs), not “my cousin”. Does sound like he said cousin though.
Im comming from new jersey to fish tomorrow morning. What time would be the best? Im staying in borne and was going to start at the bridge or do you reccommend sandwich, I see it has 2 stars next to the morning tide
Johnathon Camp no fish in the canal go back to Jersey
September during the storm was so epic
New moon / lowest peak tide.. this year August is the 3rd lowest level which August 1st is the new moon. Lowest tide and tide running buzzards bay to cape cod bay.. that day is lowest level of water that day forward on the rise each day after increases the bite and blitz..
Great video man! I'm heading out to the cape on this moon.
That amber pikie looks like a killer, caught my canal PB on an ancient and honorable Gibbs swimmer in squid brown. Good content, hope your channel takes off, tight lines.
Welp!!..All my years of hard work and learning this intel... Summed up in a 4 min video This is information that shouldn't be so easily accessible 🤦🏾♂️
Well Earl, Googans like me from western mass need all the info we can get. I don't mind getting skunked but it sucks a bit more after a 3 1/2 hour drive to get there!!🎣🎣
Make a last will and testament before you go,seen guys washed out on Terra Firma, let alone in the drink and for God's sake don't go alone.A word to the wise etc.
Good info!
Great videos. Really enjoy hearing your opinions and following your journey
Soon to come. How to fish lures with no hooks...lol Because of the decline of bass, let us have the bass just nibble on the lure.....lol
At least I know im not the only one who also thought about this it unfortunately might become a reality one day
I couldn't find the chart you were talking about on line where do I find it thanks
You can find it here www.outflowfishing.com/2019-canal-tide-chart.html
Would love to see your heavy setup that you use in the place of which we do not speak....
Coming soon, for sure...
Great series, thanks for sharing all you insight and experience.
Thanks Scott, I feel like I could keep this going for years haha.
Where can I find this chart

Awsome video bro !!
Great video. Very informative!
Excellent video!! A few years back, a good friend with a stupidly successful fishing record said to me , "When you cast that floating or suspending plug, just leave it there for as long as you can bear to do so. Why? Because its like someone ringing your door bell. How many times are you gonna get up and answer the door if every time you go look, there's no one there?? To a fish, the sound of something lightly splashing into the water will be more like a dinner bell". Same with if something bumps the lure, leave it there. So I thought I would invest an evening on trying what he said and sure enough, I caught what I truly believe was more fish as a result and my own catch results have improved, thanks mainly to his advice. As it happens, he also told me (in the same conversation) to match the actions of the hatch. Not just the colour scheme, size and shape. He told me the same as you have here, that even in current bait fish will try to use as little energy as possible and often appear to be just sitting there in the water. Not darting and diving all over the place.
Great comment Andy. You're absolutely right. Presentation is everything. It matter more than any other factor, beyond having to actually have fish in the spot. Thanks again for watching and your nice words!
