I really appreciate you making educational content for this game. Even if I will never have the time to put into competitive (Pokèmon VGC is my vice of choice), it’s so fascinating watching someone break down something they love like this. Your content has made watching games of AoM more enjoyable because I have a deeper understanding of what’s going on and why.
Hunting Dogs got moved to Heroic Age, which an additional benefit of increasing your Villager's hp. I like the change of moving it from the Archaic Age, as it was almost mandatory to get. I do dislike moving it all the way to Heroic Age however. I get why it's in Heroic Age right now, as the hp increase it now provides is a security increase against raids for your economy. But i think it should be split, so that you can get Hunting Dogs in the Classical Age, where you are more likely to still be on hunt and haven't build any/few farms. You can then gatekeep the health increase in Heroic Age behind getting Hunting Dogs from Classical Age.
As a result, there is no need to compete for hunt on the map in earlygame. Other food sources are close enough so you won't want to risk your villagers. The entire shtick "turtle with far worse food or expand with high risk" has been removed. I'm curious to see how that plays out. Seems like the game pace will take up a little bit slower now and the gold starve becomes the first (not second) potential win condition of a game. On another note, I don't get why they didn't unify the archaic economy within each civilization. If we have to learn new build orders anyway, they could have done that. Now a Greek can still play all 3 gods perfectly fine, whereas all 3 Eggy are now more different as before and all 3 Norse still needs separate build orders - people will still be restricted to main 1 god instead of 1 civ, bummer.
8 food - 3 gold - 4 wood - temple with first three woods bills. Those three stay to pray. Get back to 4 on wood. Two gold. Then food. It lines up really nice!
this is the kind of videos that i want BUT i'd prefer it to have one video dedicated to every major god... so you dont have to rush or oversimplify things i know is a lot to ask for and a lot of work but i think is worth specially because of the exponential growth that AoM will have this year Spirit of the Law is an AoE2 youtuber who has broken down to a science how to do this, i'd advice to check out his videos if you were to analyze every single major god on its own video

Hmm there are many things I really like about Retold. Been playing for a while now. I've noticed there's also ballistics now as in AoE2. Some stuff is too close to AoE4 for me, the minimap is one example. The clumping of the units another. Selecting them one by one and stuff felt much easier on AoM. The UI is meeeh too. Feels like another modernization done without love. Could be worse, but could have been better too. Same for the multiplayer area. ESO felt themed, immersive (UI wise). Retold doesn't. I like what they've done with the god powers. Favour becomes a more valuable ressource and something to think about more. And I LOVE how the armor and weapons change with class upgrades and also armor upgrades. Watching the pleb hoplites become semi gods is kinda nice. I zoomed in whenever an upgrade was close to hit just to witness it. Attack move is in too now which is cool. It selects now all the idle vills in the area of the initial idle vill which is a cool feature too. Overall they had some nice thoughts which have been implemented. Performance didn't feel that good though. Just some random thoughts :P
Quick question about the Egyptian gods, since Ra in particular can let you empower one monument to empower several buildings around it. Is it better to build the monument before you gather would and then immediately put your pharaoh onto it as you gather resources to go classical, or is it better to keep empowering granary and then make the switch on transition? Also, is monument against the town center the best spot a la eco guild?
Was watching a bunch of streams, i get people want the charm of the old aom, but i am excited, but also bummed… i have an old pc and need to upgrade to play😢
I hate it when remastered games do this. Yes the graphics look great however there is a lot of visual clarity lost in the process. Units blend a bit more with the environment now.
If you played as Thor, that is intended and has also been like that in the original game: "Dwarves cost -10 Gold and gather Food and Wood 25% faster." (That is exactly the amount that the Dwarves' base rate is below the Villagers' base rate.)
All Greek heroes switch to ranged attack against flying units and regenerate permanently. But you indeed only get access to a pure ranged hero in the Heroic Age.
Well 2 years waiting and I am dissapointed. I was like 2200rr on EE, voobly was not work for me. Buy better version for play yesterday and game not work on my MSI game 3y old notebook for 1K €. It told me Shader model too low. Which means my GPU ( graphic ) not passible start the game. I am traveling a lot so definitely not buying Idk new one just for this game. Maybe it ends up more people will still play on EE just for this reason. I found game expect very decent PC graphics.
What Ulfsark? They are Berserks now 😂 (Don't know why they changed the name). But yes, now female villagers don't turn male just because they put on a pelt. The upgrade option on Villagers is now named "Go Berserk".

Gold mines hard to see imo, animals too, visuals on Heros and Set animals too (cant easily tell wat hero is or animals) etc..
if you turn down some of the settings it has less of a "blended" look.

I played and streamed on a $1200 AUD laptop. You just need to make sure what you get is geared towards gaming.
