Thanks for that! I lived in Glasgow for 2 years, now back in Toronto and I miss my Glasgow sooooo much. Felt like being home again. Can't wait to move back in the summer!!!!!! And for any of you who think Glasgow is a crappy place...that's just pure ignorance. It's beautiful, and the people make it beautiful!!!
I had the pleasure to visit Scotland for a month back in 2005 and based myself out of Glasgow. I loved it! It was my favorite city/town to see while I was there. I stayed in the West End near Byers Road. I was so easy to get around and everyone was very friendly. I took bagpipe lessons from the College of Piping on Otago St, visited the University of Glasgow and walked the shops around Buchanan St. The Cathedral of St. Mungo was incredible as well. I can't wait to take my family there soon!
good video. i liked you showing the street names and it was good when you stopped the music and the bells were sounding at the uni.i enjoyed the whole video. thanks for uploading.
My god I've been replaying this video for the music for the last 4 hours hahaha, it's so cool. I absolutely love it, can't wait to go vacation in Glasgow!
I've lived in Glasgow in 83-84 and was working as a french teacher assistant in Newton Mearns. I can't come back each year so it was a pleasure watching you video. I spent a few minutes of my saturday afternoon in a place I'd love to be ! Thanks.
Thank you for this video, I spent five days in Glasgow this past June/July and loved it. I stayed in the west end and walked through Kelvingrove Park Everyday and around the U district! Thank you, I takes me back and I can't wait to return!
You must live in a box. Getting a bus home after the dancing is a laugh. I have been out in glasgow at night time more times than I can remember and its perfectly save. Glaswegians and people from the west of scotland are the most down to earth people you will meet. No bullshit tell it how it is, is our style. Glasgow is the home of the gods fact.
and neither have any of my friends. glasgow is a great place to live, full of thriving businesses and brilliant opportunities for young people. In fact it was a secondary school in one of the most deprived areas of Glasgow that had the highest exam results in the whole of britain 5 years in a row.
I haven't been to Glasgow very often but this brings back some really great memories of my times visiting the city. Great Video. Take Care, Health & Happiness, Regards & Best Wishes, Andy
Good compilation video of a city I've always enjoyed visiting. I love the old architecture mixed with the modern. First thing that tells me I'm in Glasgow after driving from Edingurgh, is the residential towers. Glasgow is a very interesting place, with its own unique feel.
There was a great deal of work put into this fim....I loved it...If you were to do another then could I suggest a Barras scene.....The Barras is such a good film scene....There are so many characters there.....
a major cultural centre, having produced famous architects, artists and some of Britain's best known bands (The Proclaimers, Travis and Wet Wet Wet among others) Glasgow has its problems but people who are solely negative need to be more open minded... you can go to any city on a rainy day and it won't look good
@baddacoodoo kilts* no one in glasgow really wears them, unless there is a special occasion. there more commen in the highland. its a scotish tradition.
Thanks for the video. Glasgow is my home town, so I enjoyed seeing it through your eyes. If you ever do another, please add a few shots on the cathedral, George Square and Kelvingrove park ( to mention only a few of the possibilities!) Maybe next time I go home, I'll do a video. Cheers.
Aberdeen's nice enough. All that money but they still cant get that bypass built ;-) Glasgow's basically just one big tourist attraction now. Pubs, clubs, restaurants, hotels, top brand name stores - there's rarely any trouble in the city centre. Dont know where people are gettin that from
I hope you have managed to visit n find the 5 top places to visit since 2010. If not. Mine would be. Rouken Glen Park or Pollok Country Park. West end. Especially for Park cafes cobbled streets bike hire Ashton lane n the old cinema there and the food. Especially on great western road nearest byres road there is a restaurant that looks like a pub outside. It is the finest dining I have had the pleasure to enjoy. Little expensive but alot of free tasty food and very friendly staff too. Its across from Botanic Park. If you want to shop I recommened Pollok Shopping Centre now called Silverburn shopping centre. It is a stunning building n many shopping places. South side. Of course Visit Glasgow green the museum there too and Kelvingrove museum if it is your thing entirely free too. N please do the bus tour. You'll learn alot of history there. Also check out the architecture Charles Rennie Mackintosh buildings. And oh the museum house. Where the first lady owner use to live. Need to pay to get in through Scotland trust I believe. But it has all the Victorian decor n furnituring too. Such a happy vibe in their too. Oh n the transport museum. N please do the boat jet across the clyde.
spent a week in glasgow must say was very impressed shopping in this city is beyond belief would take a year never mind a month to visit all the malls this great city has,wil definetley return there one day and enjoy once again the glasgow banter.
@ - wolverine668... fukin brilliant. i live in edinburgh the capital city of scotland and even me and my mates go to glasgow for the nitelife, some of the best clubs in britian and the scottish know how to party lol
I think I commented this before, but I watched this years ago and loved the song Irrelevant. So as a kid without streaming services or abilities to purchase songs, I ripped the audio off UA-cam. Everytime I listened I'd hear "this is Argyle street" as well as an ear-piercing subway screech. Nostalgic. It was also the first mp3 I actually bought.
It seems like it is the Locarno. It had a revolving stage and when one band was finishing up another would be "coming around the corner". I found a picture in Google images. Thanks for replying.
Hello I was very often in Glasgow. I love the City and the people. I will come back soon. I hope it.. Nice Greetz from germany... I love Glasgow and Scotland...
All these negative comments about Glasgow demonstrate ignorance on the part of those commenting. Im the first to admit Glasgow can be a tough city and certainly has a problem with drink and drugs. But it also has many examples of fine architecture, an abundance of museums and public art, three universities- one which is among the oldest in western Europe and a proud history, once known as 'the second city of the empire'. Glasgow is a major gateway to Scotland and the UK and has also ....
Like the way you show the kingston bridge in the very last shot. You should make a video of the approach to it (east or west) in the rush hour. Are you allowed to upload videos over an hour long!
i love winters here! when everyone is walkin about with scarves and gloves on and the christmas lights are up at george square! i cant wait for next month :P i love glasgow.
Excellent video. My dad was there in World War II ( The Big One ) and we just watched this. He remembers a ballroom on Sauchiehall that he speaks of quite fondly. Would you know if it's still there? My google search led me here. Thanks, Peggy
Talk to anyone who isn't from Glasgow, and they'll tell you Glasgow is a very friendly, clean and safe place to live. Glasgwegians seem to be so negative! I'm from Govanhill, seen quite a few things there.. But every big city has its shit parts, it's no worse than Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds or London!
this is the best vid ever! i av just returned back to ireland aftr living in glasgow for 18months...and now im home sick:'( now i cant w8 to move back to glasgow! thanx!
been there twice and absolutely loved it, canny wait to go back!!!! pure dead brilliant! ;) glaswegians are the best and they do know how to have a good time! thanx for the vid, brigs back memories! great music too!
It is awesome, it made me remember when I did an MBA in the University of Glasgow in 2000/2001. I even took part in the census that year.(Alejandro Chávez, Mexico City)
i think glasgow is a stunning city.. the old architecture is amazing and the contrast between it and modern buildings is perfect; this is definately the city to watch in the run up to the commonwealth games :)
Just like most working class cities[Manchester,Liverpool,Belfast] there is the Good the Bad and the Ugly!!!. I am having withdrawal symptoms watching this as I haven't been to Glasgow for a few years .Hopefully this will be rectified this year. There is great character both in the buildings and the especially the people.
I"m thinking of going to the Unvierstiy there next year...I hate to bother you, however could you tell me more about the city? Whats it like? Is it differnt from other places? You see I live in the US and have always wanted to go visit my roots you know what I mean? lol sorry I'm in a community college now and just cant wait to go to University!
Glasgow Theres Nuthin Like It, i remember coming back to visit ma auld granny, when i was a kid, and pulling down the train windae, and the smell of Central Station hits you, 40 years on and its still the same
