    Hi dear Sir thank you for this. I still need to get it. Maybe one day love the Coop... he is legend and he remains on my bucket list of shows to see

      I hope you'll get a chance to see him. I did back in the 90s and it was a great show for the stage theatrics, not just for the music. He had the guillotine and the snake. It was such a fun live experience.

    Given this set was first released in 2015, I think we can forget a later set. Still, all the classics are here. They kind of went halfway with the Japanese Mini LP designs here, keeping gatefolds and inner sleeve (sort of) but not really going the whole hog. Around the time this first arrived there was a series of Japanese Mini LP's released for run Pretties for You through Muscle of Love. Those had a new remaster, and the sleeves are gorgeous exactly mirroring the original releases, which is awesome for the likes of MOL.
    On Welcome to My Nightmare -the original release in the UK wasn't on Atlantic, it was on Anchor Records which was a black label with a sailors image on it. The only Alice album in this set that I just can't fall in love with is Lace and Whiskey. I've always been at war with it. Following on from Welcome and Goes to Hell, it's always been a huge disappointment, and the new persona Alice had taken on - a gumshoe - didn't work or last very long. There are a couple good songs there, such as Road Rats, but the album id a bit of a stinker, imo.
    One final thing - these types of reviews would be priceless is they included the DR numbers for the discs. I know that would be a lot more work and effort, but it's the first thing I try to find out when a release arrives. I'm trying to avoid anything that's too crushed. Still, these releases are simply classics from start to finish, what a run Alice has had..

      Hi Mater, thank you so much for watching and for your very informative comment. Ironically I am off to play Lace and Whiskey now to remind myself what’s it’s like. Phil :)

    Another hugely enjoyable video, Phil. You're right, School's Out was everywhere in '72. It was like an unofficial national anthem for kids. I started buying singles in early '73 and one of the first I got was No More Mr Nice Guy. Such a fantastic record. Still one of my favourite singles of all-time.

    I’m with you on “ Nightmare” Phil. Saw the live show version at Liverpool Empire in September 1975. Awesome and unforgettable spectacle with a great band behind him. 3,000 scousers going nuts!!

    Very interesting review Phil. Let’s hope this one gets the repress treatment. Surely a box set that would always sell. The lack of a booklet is a shame, but the album packaging is rather nice.

      @NowSpinningMagazine  2 роки тому

      Hi Chris, the reproduction of the albums is excellent so the lack of booklet is not a big thing. I had no idea the price for this set had gone up so much! Hopefully Music On Vinyl are watching and add it to their project list !

      Yes, would love to see repress, similar to what Cheap Trick did with the Epic years box set. 🤞 Appreciate the review Phil👍✌️

    Nice, passionate review of this box full of magnificent albums. I would stress the importance of the original band, though, plus Ezrin as a producer. You say how innovative and brave Alice was. Yes, but no less were his brilliant bandmates blasting a masterpiece after masterpiece full of musical adventures

      Hi, thank you for watching. I should have made more about Bob Ezrin and his roll in some of these albums. He is a brilliant producer and certainly helped Deep Purple get back on track with their recent albums. Phil

    Another "entertaining" review of one of the great artists works. I have been a fan since '72. I saw him in'73-billion $ babies tour, also in '75-"nightmare tour and in '07 when he opened for "Heaven and Hell". Amazingly he still looked and sounded the same (make-up does wonders??) . Like another great/important musician, David Bowie, they both did some excellent albums, and some "not-so-excellent" ones, but they are all relevant in their own unique way. It is great to see the box set, but I do have the original vinyl copies up to "goes to hell". I should give the more recent stuff a listen and catch up , I'm sure that there is some good stuff that I have not heard. As always, take care and "keep on spinning" mate !! Cheers

    I got this after seeing a video by a guy from Canada named Tim Durling. He has a channel called Tim's Vinyl Confessions. Might have trouble with another box since Alice has been on a couple of different labels(like MCA and Epic). However, there is a 3 disc set of his Epic albums. Perhaps Cherry Red can do a MCA/Epic set
