Kheres contemptors are the red shirts of my Nightlords army.
It's worth mention Deredeo as garrison is a different type of slot which opens up some options

Leviathan Dreadnoughts can fight infantry in occupied structures BECAUSE they have wrecker, per the engaging garrisoned structures section of the Rulebook. Contemporary and Deredeo can't, though.

Yeah, because WHY would it be in a useful location, which unfortunately seems to be a trend.
They can fight the infantry in the building, but the question still remains as to what happens in the advance phase. If any of the garrison survive, the Leviathan is Engaged and Pinned, so can it then Wreck the building in the advance phase?
@macdmacd3358 RAW it cannot wreck in either FF or Advance. But that feels less of a problem now that wrecker lets it fight in melee; since wrecker now does something positive rather than doing nothing.

Ah, yes The contemptor and the *old* problem of legions imperialis. Sometimes it feels I have no choice, because one weapon is clearly better than the rest, with no downside.
a. weapons need a point cost (like a lascannon should be more expensive, than a bolter)
Or
b. most weapons need better stats
Definitely one or the other. GW’s new “things dont cost points (except sometimes)” across their games has not been successful!
The good thing about the kheres assault cannon is that it has the possibility of scoring 2 hits thanks to rapid fire, whereas the lascannon can only ever get one
Yep. Nowhere near cancels out its disadvantages though :(
A little correction: if a Deredeo uses the ability to shoot at planes as a secondary target, ALL its weapons must shoot at the secondary target. The Skyfire rule is not worded the same as the Point Defense weapon rule (for some reason).
You mean if it is on First Fire and gives all weapons Skyfire? Then yes. Otherwise, no, Skyfire allows you to choose a Secondary Target.
@@TheKingElfstoneThat’s incorrect. Reread the Skyfire section carefully. It’s MODELS that may fire on a secondary target, not WEAPONS. You are confusing the way Skyfire works with the way Point Defence works, but these rules are not worded the same.
@@desc4405 they are not, but the different wording ("Models with Point Defence weapons may fire them at a different target from the Detachment's main target.") Is redundant as it is already covered by the shared wording unless your contention would work thusly:
Deredeo Detachment chooses Primary Target enemy Leman Russ Squadron and Secondary Marauder Bomber.
Deredeo 1 must fire all guns, including the missiles, at the Russ.
Deredeos 2-4 must choose which target each fires at, but with all of each model's at either.

Doesnt the LEviathan Dred have a 5+ Invul and therefore the same as the Deredeo instead of the Contemptor?

Did drop pods and associated rules for them get revealed at some point? Im planning a leviathans in drop pods, blood angels Day of Revelation for 30k and i was wondering if thats something that might eventually be possible in Legions?

Love these videos, but it's worth noting that Leviathans can assault buildings because of their Wrecker trait (p74 "engaging garrisoned structures: infantry titan and wrecker trait".. Other dreds not so much so thanks for steer.

How do folk feel about mixing in a couple of Leviathans into a Contemptor talon? Storm cannons with lascannons, cyclonic meltas with kheres ('cos you've got to use the kheres for something)
Decent way to use them yeh! They are largely just worse Leviathans at that point though
I actually think the Kheres would be fine if it hit on 3+ base. Be interesting.
I’m going to try 4 lascannon contemptors with a pair of melta leviathans to see how that plays.
Lascannons and havoc launchers OR chainfists. Anti vehicle or anti dude. Same as HH, the dreadnought isn't the best at something, but it works better if you give it a dedicated role.
Proto-hellfire: pop transports with lascannons, then use havocs to take out the troops left from them.
Proto-furioso: Go make some friends. Then squish them.

Deredeo "not a boat"
Its worth noting you can choose to use the invulnerable save versus armour bane so that you do not have to reroll, so this increases defence of these platforms vs armourbane
Nope, armourbane only works vs vehicles.

Castra Ferrum are the classics and while underpowered and under geared... that's why I love them!
Unfortunately, there aren't any rules for Legions Imperialis. I'm kicking around potential houserules for them. Alternatively, you could just play them as shorter Contemptor dreads.
Hey dude, I actually had trouble finding your channel again, because you changed your thumbnails. I reeaaallly think the old thumbnail design was much better, less generic, more visually appealing, more unique, better color palette. Please go back to it!
