✅ Easy No Dig Mailbox Ground Anchor Install
Вставка

- Here's an easy way to install a mailbox anchor for a 4x4 post. This no dig ground screw just threads into the ground with no tools and works with decorative mailbox posts/sleeves that slide over a 4x4. I've used these a few times and recommend them. They aren't as solid as a concrete of course but plenty study for a mailbox and easy to reposition if needed.

Never even knew that mailbox post anchor existed! Great video and two thumbs up for being a great neighbor by installing his mailbox!
Thanks Anthony!
No post hole digging and setting up concrete; all in 20mins? Dang! That's brilliant! (and cheap). Great vid. Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Merry Christmas!
Just bought 2.... great way to set a mailbox... 1 for my summer place where we take it down each fall because the snowplow destroys them in winter. Thanks Nate
You're welcome Bill!
Somebody knocked mine over yesterday. Just ordered an anchor with your link. Thanks!
Bummer it got knocked over! It'll be back up in no time!
Yours is taller because of the size of the mailbox, It is HUGH!!! GREAT JOB!!!!
MANY THANKS MR. TATER FOR SHARING AND INSTRUCTION TO INSTALL THE MAILBOX. IT'S SO HELPFUL! I LOOK FORWARD TO SEE YOU AGAIN FOR FURTHER PROJECTS!!!!!
You're welcome! I'm always up to something.
I’m so doing this. This weekend thank you. 🙏
Good luck!
Now that’s a mailbox. Nater I love your videos. I wish was better a public speaking. I would love to be to be able to do reviews like you do.
thanks Kevin!
Thanks for you insight & perspective
I was thinking to do this or to pour concrete, let it set and put a post holder on it with concrete screws and to post.
The wood eventually gets bad, so I totally like this idea way better
Great self-help video. Thank you for sharing it. 👍
You make great videos man. You also slightly remind me of Lieutenant Dan.
Thanks Scott! Lt Dan is my doppelganger
I new I'd seen you before lieutenant Dan You got new legs!!!
Good to know, thanks Nate
Happy to help!
Thanks Nate about to try this next spring over here in Richmond Michigan 🍻
yes, a little difficult in winter!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m a complete novice when it comes to this. Couple of questions. What would happen if the post is not 100% level? I’m not talking about wonky, but just ever so slightly not level. Also, because the screw in bracket (the piece you put in the ground) only has two sides and is not a box, how does the wood post stand up by itself before you screw it into the metal part?
looks loose, flimsy and wobbly without quickcrete
My questions is how sturdy is it? do you feel a lot of give when you wiggle it around? will it stay true level over the years? It's about time to replace mine and I was looking at the various methods on how to doing it. Thanks in advanced
I find it as stable as direct bury of a 4x4 post. A concreted post beats it out. It partially depends on your soil type, sand doesnt hold well and if its super soft (water saturated) clay then it can get lose. "Regular" dirt works well from my experience.
I imagine you'll have to drill pilot holes for the lag bolts?
Yes you could/should if your wood is dense. My 4x4 is probably 20yrs old and was able to accommodate the extra "squish" without a pilot hole or any cracking.
@@NaterTater Thanks, that's what I figured. It's a brand new 4x4 and quite dense. I have a large selection of bits. Just waiting until Thursday when it arrives.
Thanks again for the video and recommendation.
Nate, I did not see a link at the end of this video with the manufacturer of the anchor. Would you mind sharing it?
Hi Mark, it's in the video description below the video in UA-cam. You likely have to click "more" to see it.
Does it work in sandy soil like Fl?
@@linda4853 probably not well
@@NaterTater thanks, that’s what I thought, but looks like a great thing for rocky places.
can this be used to anchor a lean-to ?
Depends on size/use and your local code.
Do you think it will work with a post 7 feet tall for a solar lamp post?
i think they make longer ones that might work better for that. like 3ft long
How sturdy is it?
Will depend somewhat on the soil but i'd say atleast as good as digging the same depth hole and sticking the 4x4 post in the ground. Less sturdy then a larger hole and concrete anchored post. Mine is still standing straight today without me messing with it.
What did the neighbors say?
Thanks! (We had discussed it prior).
Do you think these ankors will be strong enough for 7 foot 4×4's and provide tension for a sunshade? Perhaps 7 foot posts would add too much leverage for it to work.
