So I've been seeing this one a lot lately and it basically combines two of my favorite things (Guillermo del Toro and Ramin Djawadi). My God what a movie! I loved it. I imagine it would be like Batman v. Superman will be; The Jaegers and Godzilla fight at the beginning, but then some even bigger threat comes in and they team up back to back and start kicking the s**t out of giant alien monsters all over again and it looks god-damn amazing.
I just think then ew Godzilla is a bit overpower for Pacific Rim...UNLESS they built a bigger and better Jaeger and bigger Kaijus appears! That would be AWESOME!
i feel like godzilla is just a defender of earth so from the beginning godzilla would have to attack the kaiju because they're attacking our earth

pacific rim is either the worst best movie ever made or the best worst movie ever, the story is generic ( except for the apocalypse speech) but my god is the fighting cool
The Apocalypse speech was generic as well. The line, "We are cancelling the APOCALYPSE!" is the only great thing about that speech. And Idris Elba, but they wasted him on the speech. The fighting was badass though! Can't wait for the next one. Wish they didn't make Charlie Hunnam speak in that fake accent though, it's pretty bad.
***** The story/ plot line was generic in the sense that they won, he gets the girl and none of the main characters die at the very end of the movie (Idris dies before the end). Classic hero who after a bad incident doesn't want to be involved anymore until approached by an old friend to do it. Comes back, faces rivals and adversity, meets a girl (okay this is less clique as the girl actually contributes to the movie, not a senseless damsel in distress) then they go off to fight the enemy and save the day almost single handedly. Then there is a development in the story that leads to the climax of the film where the mentor figure dies to give the heroes a chance to stop the enemy. Main character must save the day and goes on to make the final sacrifice of nearly dying but not actually dying. Saves humanity happy ending blah blah blah....
It is generic but the action of the movie was kickass. Also it was created by Guillermo Del Toro who is Mexican, the Japanese created the universe in which it was set but not the movie itself. We're not saying the movie was abysmal but it was nothing new and revolutionary as plot goes (it's been done a million times over the framework of the story). The actual fighting physics were stunning though as you got a sense of scale and power that is non existent in the Michael Bay super explosion boobs junkyards having sex movies they call Transformers. It was in no way generic in that sense as it seems to have advanced the attention to detail and physics of large beings fighting one another.

The trick isn't to do something 'original,' but to do the same old thing better than the rest. Guillermo Del Toro is a friggin' warrior at that. Star Wars was conceived in a similar fashion.

This cover should absolutely be used as the main theme for the sequel. Saw the movie again last night and the original theme, while good, didn't get me as pumped as this cover. Great job man!
