I think it’s very possible that clothes were being intentionally burned in the fireplace at that site in an attempt to control disease (possibly Scarlett fever) during that time period. It’s incredible that the artifacts have lasted so long! You found many small buttons which could be an indication that more children’s clothing was being burned but that’s just a theory!
Thank you for the adventure and seeing some amazing finds especially the ones Digger Dame dug from the chimney stack ! Take care , stay safe and healthy wherever you guys maybe going next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Thank you Waynos for the spoon toss, love a spoon toss and that's a lovely thimble and a buckle. Dame those rocks are large and finding the small items in all that was hard work. Charlie they had you going from one to other filming their finds which didn't give you a lot of detecting time but you found your share of buttons lol. The last site must have been difficult with all the rocks and roots and the trees and brush, but you found some lovely relics. Take care and stay safe please my friends good luck and happy hunting love and hugs to you all and NinJen Mary-Ellen LFOD
I'm just loving the fact that you dudes are quite a bit younger than me and are still having problems getting up and down . Oh, and the video is entertaining, also.
What a great assortment of beautiful buttons. I really like the key, thimble, shoe buckle pieces and frame. I also would have been happy just digging the ox shoe. Thanks for sharing, good luck, happy hunting and take care of.
My friend Joe and I ended up moving rocks from one of our sites out of the way and we ended up finding a flowing hair largie, a jersey copper, a draped bust, a wiped copper and about half a dozen buttons. Move the rocks lol

Hey Charlie. I've been watching you fish through chimney stacks and cellar holes for a couple of years now, and I'm curious as to what they used to hold them together in a stack. I haven't seen any form of mortar or cement, unless it just washed away over the two hundred plus years of sitting there. There was a hint of crude mortar in that hole that Dame found in the foundation, but that could have just been mud. I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders. I watched your video on what the homesteads looked like in the day, and they seem to have a rather sophisticated foundation under them. I could see it if they were all flat stone, but they seem to have cobble and irregular stones mixed in as well. Thanks for the videos and if you could expound a little on this, I would appreciate it. Jefferson.
Wow waynos! I'd been happy finding that shoebuckle too! Woohoo what a day Dame had! Lots of buttons guys! And whats with the iron shoebuckle chafs? Awesomeness!
A few videos ago you highlighted a book that is a great resource. I went to the site you said but couldn’t find the book. Can you give me the name and author again?

That's the difference, you can swing in those open areas and cover the ground that others have. Or blaze new ground by moving the old debris out of the way. And did it pay off! Great job guys!👍
Digger Dame-maybe the 1/2 horseshoe in the chimney stack was a lucky horseshoe for the home-you know, hang it on the wall (or chimney I guess!) with round side down, the 2 straight sides pointing up, as to catch any luck that’s roaming around. And, if said horseshoe swings downward 🙀 your luck falls out. 😎. Idk, is that just a Southern myth, or have y’all heard it up there? Cheers!
A lot of time and commitment, not to mention sweat, but it would be nice to move that whole chimney stack and screen all the dirt. Just go analog and see what's hiding. Thanks.
i think i was.. 🗝 .. tho maybe charlie found a railroad key after i found the school house key. hmm...?!? ty Malyman for remembering my most favorite find!! ~ninjen~

No idea, must have been some type of crude mortar.
Great idea and results Dame
Being at the chimney I'm thinking harder now it was the sewing box for sure
Wow waynos! I'd been happy finding that shoebuckle too! Woohoo what a day Dame had! Lots of buttons guys! And whats with the iron shoebuckle chafs? Awesomeness!
It was a great day all around..thanks Norma
That looks like you folks had some fun again nice finds!!!; )
Dame went full Prudential on that chimney stack. He didnt get a piece of the rock, he got pieces of all the rocks. Great show guys I'm jealous
Great theory on everything on the mantle piece, awesome hunt
So would that key have been to a door or a padlock? Great finds. I always love artifacts.
Most likely a door or a chest
A few videos ago you highlighted a book that is a great resource. I went to the site you said but couldn’t find the book. Can you give me the name and author again?

Great relics recovered my peeps... Waynos is the “Bird man” he knows his chickens!! (identification by chirp sound) lol. great dig’n day! ~Ninjen~
Definitely lol..it's all about the chickens
Ever consider digging out under the fire place? If there's a cavity there could be more cool stuff within.
Great video! Just think if you had been using the 5" coil back then. It would have been a lot easier hunting in that stack! Great finds, guys!
It was good to see a buckle come out of the ground. Enjoyed watching ✌

Watch those rock piles...NH still has some Timber Rattlesnakes!
Hello, great digging, love your show. I have subscribed. Thank you, Lynn from Worcestershire in England x 💋
Those are cool finds. When you going back and work on you hut
Dame with the crazy "stack" of buttons. Some nice finds all around guys. HH LFOD and be well
digger dame..THE SWEEP
A lot of time and commitment, not to mention sweat, but it would be nice to move that whole chimney stack and screen all the dirt. Just go analog and see what's hiding. Thanks.
Old button shop? Wow...that was a crazy amount of buttons
Great Video Thanks
Did you not see the tree right between you and the camera?
It’s true about the snakes. I’ve reached my hand inside rock walls and pulled out eggs. I don’t think it was a sneaky chicken. Nice buckle Waynoe.
Looks like guys should go back to all of the other places and work the chimney stacks ! 😆
Why are buttons so often found during these events?
You guys have some awesome camera angles
Sewing box content
Dame, I found one of those shelves and found a 1834 cap silver dime ,
I think Nin Jen got the last key on Stealth Diggers
I think you are right Malyman
i think i was.. 🗝 .. tho maybe charlie found a railroad key after i found the school house key. hmm...?!?
ty Malyman for remembering my most favorite find!! ~ninjen~
How long is this thing
My guess is that it was a ladies sewing basket sitting on the mantle. WOW!
A thimble? Only NOW am I jealous. Intact? OMG! Clean it up at home, under a light and show us the detail!!! Dawg!!!!
👍
I love the Simpsons Dame
I know very little about what you do but am fascinated and really want to do this! All those button though, could a tailor or seamstress lived there at one time?
What kind of depth does the F19 have with a large coil?
So far with the bigger fisher black coil I have seen them dig buttons at around 12 inches..pretty impressive so far

Thanks Joyce, the spider was huge..I almost put my hand on it lol..yikes
could this site have been a tailors , ? that many buttons.
Very possible. Or clothes hung by the fireplace were left when the site was abandoned
Thread was not so consistant in quality.
@@sarahstrong7174 and thimbles,

There is something almost eternal about stacked cellar stones and walls.
Where are you digging, thanks?
Those old timers spent a lot of time shedding buttons and kicking off shoe buckles!
That shelf had cleaned out long ago 😞
A lot of the buckles you find are suspender buckles.
What is a good inexpensive metal detector what brand
Was that a settlement?
Your metal detector sounds like you're squishing a kitten! Not hard, but, enough to make it grunt! LOL
In the intro why was he hiding behind the tree?

Yall giving up on the Garrett's? When ya gonna come to the dark side and try the Equinoxes 600/800. I use the 600 and find nice old deep stuff.
We still have our Garrett's..they are trying a different machine with a different frequency and it is working well for the type of hunting we do
@@waynosphotography4719 oh, I see. What a great idea. I'll keep watching and learning.
Was there a lot of Indian raids in that area ? Could that be why you find so many buttons and things ?
Bol şanslar. Like 👍👍🇹🇷🇹🇷
How do you find these locations, and how do you get permission to dig?
😮😮😮
I just have to say this - sorry. All the oxen shoes you guys find would make great wind chimes.
Button, button, who's got the button?
EVERYONE!!!
@Chris Altmann not a b-ball fan. It is actually a game played as kids in England.
Are you allowed to dismantle a historic artifact (chimney) to find relics? Asking for a friend.
Cool finds but I would have been afraid of sticking my hand in there and finding a mean old snake...
I would think they would have to be very careful around those rock piles…. Snakes…snakes…snakes or would I be wrong.
