Here it is one of the fastest 13" Ultrabooks on the market! It's expensive so make sure its exactly what you're looking for before buying. Hit me up on discord if you have any questions! discord.gg/mattmoniz
Really nothing can compete but the matebook x pro and surface book 2 If you can go without dedicated graphics on the go than the competition heats up big time
I guess razer is to blame for their 'gaming' oriented marketing around this laptop that has mislead everyone into thinking this is a gaming machine, clearly its targeted at the macbook air/pro for productivity workload, and compared to apple's offering this ultrabook has more value / hardware for the money
MBA isn't a productivity machine. And the MBP is much more expensive and a lot less performant with the worst hardware problems of almost any productivity-centric laptop.
Creator's Remorse yes because of the keyboard issues MacBooks have dropped down reliability surveys behind most other OEMs, apart from Razer, that is consistency a poor choice for reliability. Just Google, easy choose a MacBook Pro (especially the newest) ove4 a Razer
Ultabooks like that just aren't meant for those who think about the price. They're made for specific needs that don't include saving money. I guess that's ok. If a big enough market exists, someone will fill it. The rest of us buy "smart value" and are happy as well.
I would love to own this laptop, fits my use case perfectly: Has enough power for school work, but also good enough for some casual gaming, all while keeping it portable enough to take to school daily. Just wish they'd drop the price by a couple hundred bucks
Theres not many products out there as same quality as this one. Huawei matebook might be the one, the price pretty much as close as blade stealth but the performance not even close. 'Pricey' I dont think so, not likely apple product, charge you much more than what you get. Blade Stealth give you pretty close to what you pay for.
@@Au-kq6zb "much cheaper" sorry but they are only like 100-200$ different, not that 'much'. As people claim matebook is way cheaper to compare, then they say blaze stealth is pricey!?
Adil Messi just putting it in perspective that it ain’t completely unaffordable. I use a Razer blade and I appreciate the quality of the product. But it just annoys me when people are making such a big deal over a slightly more competitive pricing.
I did get the SB2 13.5 and I am in love with the performance of the GTX 1050. For $1899 with i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage plus a decent gaming GPU I think I was in luck to find my SB2 in that price point during Black Friday. But I do admit, the Stealth does feel more portable IMO.
Wait, it isn't a MX150 on steroid. It is THE MX150 that introduced publicly, 25w. The one in most laptops are the 15w ones that nVidia didn't, maybe forget, to introduce alongside the 25w one. 25w MX150 is the OG for performance, the 15w MX150 is the "moderate" one with battery life in mind.
How would you compare this laptop with aluminum body to x1 carbon in terms of build quality and endurance? I asked you this in the livestream but you didn't respond :D
X1 Carbon would be more durable as it as the MIL-STD rated. Both build quality are around the same, but metal tends to dent more compared to carbon fibre (you do need to compare the actual thickness of each products though). That's something I can't find about. It comes down to the finish. X1 Carbon have the typical ThinkPad soft touch finish whereas the Blade Stealth have matte metal finish. Soft touch finish tends to wear more against a matte metal finish. So in the long term you might see the X1 Carbon to wear more than Blade Stealth but doesn't mean it's not durable. It's just the finish.
@@drfyzziks That would be Quality Assurance problem which every single product in the world have it. If it's 1% out of 10,000 units, then 100 units would be affected. That's kinda a nature of any mainstream (produced in bulk in factories) products. Review products given to all those UA-camrs usually were being analyzed quite more in depth rather as they're less in quantity compared to the retail versions. If you want to minimize the risk of that then you should buy a handcrafted product or individually hand assembled by actual people who runs the company, in which the price will skyrocket very easily.
Carbon fiber will last longer than metal any day of the week. But, I don't know if this is a problem with carbon fiber in general or just my device, it catches fingerprints like crazy. I have to wipe it down with a cleaning solution almost weekly.
@@MinecraftMasterNo1 Like I commented above, that would be the finishing they use on the carbon fiber itself. Matte Black finish on the aluminum Razer Blade Stealth is also prone to fingerprint compared to some other aluminum chassis. Not all material are finished the same way.
1:07 - If I'm not mistaken, only the right USB-C is TB3, the left USB-C is 3.1 Gen 2 in which both can support charging. I don't quite understand the layout they chose, smaller arrow keys works just fine (Macbook old keyboards and ThinkPad keyboards). It's not really a deal breaker if you're a slow typer or never use right shift at all. They don't even have a proper keyboard with the same layout to make uniformity around their own products (I get it PC keyboards are way bigger than laptop keyboards) but why change the layout from the previous Blades?
Razer did well with the refresh of their Blade 15. But the Stealth costs more than other competitors. Sure it has discrete graphics and 30% more power. I agree with you Matt that what you’re paying is for the portability. But you’re not getting the performance you need in a small package. If you need thin and light, on the go, with discrete graphics, the Zephyrus S or GS65. If you need something more portable or smaller than that that’s equally powerful, sorry. That doesn’t exist yet. The Stealth would be for the people who are razer fans, have money to spend, and looking for a powerful (if not, the most powerful) 13 inch laptop on the market.
But it's not the same: The zephrus s and GS65 are big machines compared to the blade even if they are smaller than competitors. Two different target demographics I guess.
yassin sherif, the Zephyrus S is the thinnest powerful laptop and the GS65 is the lightest. Why are you buying the Stealth? Do you want portability or performance? Or both? Because in my opinion, the other two are better with a more justifiable price tag. Do you want a 13 inch with a performance of a 15 inch? It doesn’t exist yet. As I’ve said, if money is no object to you, then this is the laptop for you.
I'm not sure why people say this is so expensive. The XPS 13 for the same specs without dedicated graphics is $1600. The surface laptop 2 is more and only has 8gb ram. So in this category it is not that far out there.
Well the new razer blade 15 and stealth are the same price @ the razer/microsoft stores I'd rather have the 15" and always carry a charger around since I'd do the same w/ the 13, Why the F is the stealth so damn expensive?
it cost like a MBP 13 here(2017), but with discrete graphics? video editing is not that far behind full fledge laptops? looks like a pretty good pick up.
I just bought mine for work/school. (4k model) I had bought the XPS 13 9370 4k model a few months ago and it had nothing but problems. Switching to the RBS was like night and day. It runs far smoother, the trackpad is leaps and bounds ahead of the XPS pad, and the overall experience is much more pleasant. The only issues I found are that the Liteon M.2 SSD makes noise when reading/writing (sounds like an old HDD). I will be swapping it out for a Samsung Pro. The other issue was that the fans would ramp up to 100% with CPU temps in the 70s. A full wipe and fresh install of windows have seemed to fix the issue. I will still be undervolting the CPU though.
Essentially, the laptop is absolutely fantastic in what it does as what is/could be an office laptop. The only criticism I have is the price tag but I would still buy one again every time
my razer blade stealth 19 has touch pad issues, ill be scrolling using two fingers then all of a sudden it will jump randomly to another part of the screen without me touching it, also when scrolling it will get stuck on the screen until i have to do the gesture again to scroll down, any help or ideas on how to fix it
@Luis CNET yeah i did they're going to send me a return label idk if i should take the chance to get a new one or just buy a macbook pro to be safe. Plus the trackpack on the mac is really nice
I'm in school and I find this laptop perfect for what I need. it has 8+ hours of battery life for class but during lunch I can sit down plug it in and run games like doom at 60 fps on medium settings, or do some CAD for class. I do intend to get an eGPU down the line but for now I do get battery life that contends with other peoples thin and light laptop (as long as you're willing to mess with NVIDIA's control panel). and when need be, have the most power out of any 13". Also i bought mine early January 2020 for 1150$ after tax.
Thank you for doing this, It has four top firing speakers and only one TB port on the right though. I have mine on the way. I have read about bad customer service and spotty build quality. But again thank you for your input and love your channel!
@@MatthewMoniz I have had mine for a few days. The speakers were making a crackling sound when playing games and watching youtube videos. Fixed through realtek updates, known issue for this. Also upgraded my ssd but I can not get the mx150 drivers to work properly. I was playing games like gtaV and the witcher 3 @ med now cant get them to work on low..... Razer help and website is useless Im sure this will be fixed eventually but build and battery are legit. Thank you again for reaching out and cant wait for your next videos. O wait I think the video with you and um you debating which laptop is better was genius and should be done again maybe razerblade vs alienware 15's

@@ko-Daegu I'm a computer science student and I just got this 4K model Stealth, it works fantastic!! I'm thinking about getting a Titan Xp with Razer Core X if I gonna study AI in the future
It's not worth the price point but it still is a beautiful machine - I absolutely love what they did with the MX150 - very smart. Thanks for the review, Matt.
How does the battery life of the new Stealth compare to the Matebook X Pro? I picked up a Matebook X Pro last month mainly because it was the only ultrabook that had a dedicated GPU, and then Razer did this. Kicking myself a little, but still very much enjoy the Matebook.
Jackson Emch how is it ? Am currently deciding between them, i really like the stealth performance but i love the matebook x display and its cheaper i already have an alienware but am looking for something portable
I have this ultrabook(just bought a week ago) and i love it for it's performance and quality over it's value. Because i got performance and quality with portability for high budget and i don't care about that budget. I know it's overpriced but it's worthy for portability. Reviewer is absolutely right!
If people use both equally, that doesn't mean they use it at the same time, so you can't sum that total to the other 12%, you can take the mean or average, but not the whole 13%. So it's NOT 25%
I think this laptop is perfect for those who travel a lot and do audio production. Audio production software are heavy and need the power so it won't glitch when running. I think I might get one myself.
I got a Stealth 18 and it throttled constantly out of the box. Even having multiple tabs open on Chrome made it hit 99% CPU usage. Sent it back and ended up just buying a desktop.
It would have been amazing if you'd have tested GPU accelerated software like DaVinci Resolve, Affinity Photo, Blender and the like. And compare it with the other ultrabooks without GPU. It would be interesting to see a comparisson of this new Razer Stealth against the new ZenBook 13/14 (also Whiskey Lake with MX150, smallest bezels) and the Huawei. Thanks Matthew!
Matt...if I’m buying this as a political science student (lots of typing, lecture watching, etc.) with no gaming, no video editing, etc. do you think the base model non MX 150 variant would be a decent choice? Comes with 8 gigs of ram instead of the 16, and it’s like 200 bucks cheaper. I mainly like this one due to the chroma keyboard.
lol dude, don't show us benchmarks from two different games like that - it really proves nothing. If your point is to show what the MX150 can do at 25W vs 10W, well, you didn't. I'm still not convinced it's worth the 150% power consumption increase, tbh. If you believe that it is, sell it with facts, not opinion. ty have a good day
I don't know about you but these laptops just don't have enough USB ports for my use case. I use 2 USB ports for my keyboard & mouse while docked and 1 HDMI port for my display and I need at least one USB A port for other stuff or USB C to use an adapter. My ProBook 4540s has 4 USB ports that's great but new laptops have 2 USB A ports at max. Anyone else like me ?
Yep plus sd card and hdmi I use I also like the battery indicator lights I think 3 USB a gen 2 would be the sweet spot just as fast as usbc or faster And 2 thunderbolt 3 usbc as card HDMI and dedicated Ethernet dongle port with wake from networks supoort
Honestly, I would rather buy a cheaper ultrabook with TB3 support and hook it up to eGPU. The price just isn't justifiable for an MX150 in the Stealth.
@@MinecraftMasterNo1 Neither is the Razer Blade Stealth. If someone really wants an ultrabook with more power in it, it would be more reasonable to hit a good deal on a cheaper ultrabook and an eGPU than to spend it on an MX150 for the same price. Yes, you won't get full graphical power from TB3, but at least it isn't paying a fortune for what an MX150 offers.
@@Zbiru7 Not really. Most people buy the "mid-spec" model for the MX150. The laptop is branded as a gaming ultrabook because of the dGPU, not because it has 16 gb of RAM, which plenty of other ultrabooks at the price range already offer.
I checked it.. mx150 with 30%+ is as fast as a gtx 960m or around 20% less fast than gtx 1050 (performance in games). So it's totally fine to game on it, just don't expect too much.
Even though i use the right shift key on occasion, I don't think that odd placement would be an issue for me, since I usually hit the key on the far right anyways. I don't know though, I would have to see one in person.
I have the 4k version and I love it but recently I have considering maybe trading it in and getting a Razer Blade 15 instead. I do not plan to game on it that much so I guess what I have is ok but I would probably enjoy the bigger screen if it is not that much bigger/heavier than the stealth. I know you have played with both. What is your opinion on one vs the other for someone mainly consuming media and music production. I guess I would do the occasional gaming on it but I have a dedicated desktop for that sort of stuff
It is all nice and stuff until windows fucks up like.. everything. It's like russian roulette, whats this time? An annoying bug that fucks up the start menu ui? Something that wipes your data? Making your os parition non-bootable? Or just denieing you acces to windows store? Ahh.. endless possibilities. But atleast you are learning how to be your family's tech support guy... It's something.
Traveling a lot with only carry on and so 15" being just too heavy. A few things that would be interesting to maybe add to future videos, power brick size/weight and if it's easy to open(need to pry up clips or what not). Excellent video though. Still nice to see some Type A ports, not too big a fan of metal wrist rests due to often getting the unsettling tingeling/electric feeling on touch when plugged in.
Hey Matt, I'm not sure if you knew but the MX150 used in Huawei Matebook X Pro is also much weaker than normal MX150 (it's performance is closer to MX130, they bought lower bin one). There was even a little drama about that because Huawei never specified that but when compared to boosted MX150 in Razer, the difference is even higher than it would normally be. Just a fun fact for everyone who was interested in buying Huawei. I'm also a little disappointed that there is no individual key backlight in new Stealth but oh well, at least second F roude is lighted now. Still a little too much overpriced in my opinion. About your review, really great one and quality as always very good! I know you mention great battery life but it would be awesome if you could slip somewhere information about how good it performers while gaming.
For me, i using Razer Blade Stealth 2016, and see that product i dont interesting bcs price. I think you probably take a Base Razer Blade Stealth without MX150, and buy Gigabyte eGPU like RX580 or GTX 1070 or Lenovo eGPU GTX 1050. I think that better than this option bcs you playing games on Razer Blade Stealth still need a charger
I think title should be changed to "The Almost Perfect UA-camr-pleasing Ultrabook". I'd rather get a laptop from the "Nipple" brand. You know who they are.
Michael Pujos X1 is great but this stealth is 13 inch such a small device with this power one year ago never existed at least lets admire the engineering But I guess is not innovative since components are soldiered so yeah
I got this product and had nothing but problems, crackel from the speakers, charger not drawing enough power - the battery discharging even when it's plugged in! Battery life is not good.
Am I the only person who took a typing class in HS?! How do most people NOT use both SHIFT keys?! That right shift is a deal breaker. Hope it’s fixed on the Ice Lake version

Hey Mathew. I do a lot of photo editing, very little video editing, coding, graphic design, and some gaming. With student discounts I can get a really good price on the Surface Laptop 3 i7. Should I get this or the Surface?
I think for the price of 1599 USD it's quite reasonable than other Ultrabooks like xps15 1050 one and it's performance is quite similar to 1050-2gb maybe a difference of 10-15 fps using same settings but I think the soldered on 8 gb non expandable memory is an issue for future proofing
Dude a Matebook x pro has basically the same specs for cheaper and just a way better design. The only downside is the lower power MX 150 but I think that sacrifice is worth it for the cheaper price and better design.
I just got a Dell XPS 15 9570 that is fully loaded and I mean full loaded, but I will be using it for school and moderate gaming. I really like the size and design of the the stealth but it is it worth the downgrade in specs
I know this is very picky, but WTH, a lock hole for basic security is mandatory on this machine! Why bothering making its look more neutral if they cannot see the basic needs of business users?

Thank you for doing this, It has four top firing speakers and only one TB port on the right though. I have mine on the way. I have read about bad customer service and spotty build quality. But again thank you for your input and love your channel!
You're welcome anythony and you're correct 4 speakers. Let me know how you like it when you get it!
@@MatthewMoniz
I have had mine for a few days.
This, or Matebook X Pro (highest specs) ? For studying and programming.
Get the MateBook X Pro if you're using it for just studying and programming
@@MatthewMoniz which one is better for creatives matebook or stealth ?
@@MatthewMoniz Okay thanks for fast answer :)
NEXØ
Depends on what programming you are doing
But since you said studying I will assume basic stuff so matebook is enough ....
Let’s hope you are not talking about computer science cuz son you will need more powerful computer
Of course that’s depends on the college and there curriculum....
@@ko-Daegu I'm a computer science student and I just got this 4K model Stealth, it works fantastic!! I'm thinking about getting a Titan Xp with Razer Core X if I gonna study AI in the future
Just bind the arrow key to shift and your keyboard issue is solved 👍
great video dude
keep it up!
This has 4 stereo speakers and not 2 as mentioned in the review, fairly important feature and clearly stated on the Razer website..
I have this ultrabook(just bought a week ago) and i love it for it's performance and quality over it's value. Because i got performance and quality with portability for high budget and i don't care about that budget. I know it's overpriced but it's worthy for portability. Reviewer is absolutely right!
Would you rather have the same arrow key placement, but with a longer shift key, or the normal placement of those keys?
Thanks! Can you please also test this laptop with one of the EGPUs? It's interesting to see how it handles with the heat or else
If people use both equally, that doesn't mean they use it at the same time, so you can't sum that total to the other 12%, you can take the mean or average, but not the whole 13%. So it's NOT 25%
I dont have that laptop but I do have that white thing in the thumbnail.....
I have the table
Dolan Bright bro I have the plant
@@B1SQ1T Very Good m8
I've got those snakes in my life...
Just saying 🙄
Thanks Matthew!
ooh I have been waiting for this :)
Yep plus sd card and hdmi I use I also like the battery indicator lights
I think 3 USB a gen 2 would be the sweet spot just as fast as usbc or faster
And 2 thunderbolt 3 usbc as card HDMI and dedicated Ethernet dongle port with wake from networks supoort
At least they have usb a port. Mac dont have one
@@lamcao6638 I use my laptop with macOS from time to time
Honestly, I would rather buy a cheaper ultrabook with TB3 support and hook it up to eGPU. The price just isn't justifiable for an MX150 in the Stealth.
I think people buy the mx150 model because of the ram
You get 70-80% of the eGPU at most with TB3. You're getting 130% of the MX150. And besides, eGPU solutions aren't exactly cheap.
Any examples of a good Ultrabook with TB3 support that's closer to 13 inches?
I checked it.. mx150 with 30%+ is as fast as a gtx 960m or around 20% less fast than gtx 1050 (performance in games).
So it's totally fine to game on it, just don't expect too much.
Even though i use the right shift key on occasion, I don't think that odd placement would be an issue for me, since I usually hit the key on the far right anyways. I don't know though, I would have to see one in person.
Surface Book 2 13” i7 models have a GTX 1050!!
How about the fingerprint that makes a black chassis look much less glamorous after several hours of touching ?
I have the 4k version and I love it but recently I have considering maybe trading it in and getting a Razer Blade 15 instead. I do not plan to game on it that much so I guess what I have is ok but I would probably enjoy the bigger screen if it is not that much bigger/heavier than the stealth.
I know you have played with both. What is your opinion on one vs the other for someone mainly consuming media and music production. I guess I would do the occasional gaming on it but I have a dedicated desktop for that sort of stuff
Very interesting product. I may need to make the switch the a Windows laptop soon here. I've been using Macbook Pros for the last 7 years.
Get the 15 inch version it's way better
Same
It is all nice and stuff until windows fucks up like..
Not a fan of razer because it’s really not for me. But this one looks very 😍
its fanless
Would love to see a comparison between this n Matebook X Pro. Nice video
I think title should be changed to "The Almost Perfect UA-camr-pleasing Ultrabook". I'd rather get a laptop from the "Nipple" brand. You know who they are.
Michael Pujos
X1 is great but this stealth is 13 inch such a small device with this power one year ago never existed at least lets admire the engineering
But I guess is not innovative since components are soldiered so yeah
Dell makes nipples too. What is this? Nipplism?
@@MinecraftMasterNo1 Lmao
For that kinda money id expect a decent cam not a potato however 4k hdr screen with good battery life is kinda nice. Awesome review matt 😎✌
James Cassar LMFAO WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT CAMERA
Agree on the right shift key placement. Why, Razer, why?
This is really good because mx150 is super underrated imo but very powerful. I use an Acer MX150 laptop and I love it.
When are you going to review the new Razer Blade Stealth with the GTX?
I got this product and had nothing but problems, crackel from the speakers, charger not drawing enough power - the battery discharging even when it's plugged in! Battery life is not good.
Am I the only person who took a typing class in HS?! How do most people NOT use both SHIFT keys?! That right shift is a deal breaker. Hope it’s fixed on the Ice Lake version
Lenovo thinkpad x1 does not have a tb3 port otherwise that has 1050ti max q
The X1 Carbon does have a tb3 port. The X1 Extreme has 2 tb3 ports.
@@MalfoyR sorry for the misinfo i got confused x1 carbon is just a very good laptop and even it is 14 inch just does not have a discrete graphics like raer blade stealth what do u thjnk which is better x1 carbon or razer blade stealth 2019?

At what point in time do we get hybrid touch screen laptops with rgb keyboard lighting like this razer?
I got the same laptop ( I think ) with no touch screen 2019 model, for 1399 I suggest that too!
Hey its been about 6 months with your laptop, could you share your experience before I purchase mine? (Which will be very soon)
Also share any issues or problems
Thanks :)
What do you think if it will be used for photo editing?
I couldn't care less about gaming I just want the best performance in a business laptop. Do you think i should save up for a razer blade stealth, Lenovo x1 or xps 13?
JJ Barker Lenovo x1 carbon
Please compare with macbook pro..which one should to buy..?
Thanks
I would like to see the razer logo light up when on
Hey Mathew. I do a lot of photo editing, very little video editing, coding, graphic design, and some gaming. With student discounts I can get a really good price on the Surface Laptop 3 i7. Should I get this or the Surface?
Put it on steroids. That was clever use of words for a laptop. 😂
Just ordered it ... will do a great job with my core v2
How is it? Would you recommend?
I think for the price of 1599 USD it's quite reasonable than other Ultrabooks like xps15 1050 one and it's performance is quite similar to 1050-2gb maybe a difference of 10-15 fps using same settings but I think the soldered on 8 gb non expandable memory is an issue for future proofing
What you think about using for students ?
I was wondering which one would be better to use for gaming. Razer blade or stealth
Dude a Matebook x pro has basically the same specs for cheaper and just a way better design. The only downside is the lower power MX 150 but I think that sacrifice is worth it for the cheaper price and better design.
what kind of screw driver do I need to get to open the machine?
Four speakers matthew
How about the 14" Aero from gigabyte?, A refresh thin bezel version of that would be interesting
This being the most powerful ultrabook, could we see how a few popular games would run on this?
You forget to say, that battery is draining even if cable is connected while playing :/ After 1h of playing you will get like 80% battery
First Windows ultrabook that I'm interested! (:
I just got a Dell XPS 15 9570 that is fully loaded and I mean full loaded, but I will be using it for school and moderate gaming. I really like the size and design of the the stealth but it is it worth the downgrade in specs
no.
I know this is very picky, but WTH, a lock hole for basic security is mandatory on this machine! Why bothering making its look more neutral if they cannot see the basic needs of business users?
Only the left type c is thunderbolt 3 the right c port is a normal c port. Really wish you would do a little research before doing a first look review! 🤔🤨
Does the keys become hot while gaming? WASD keys?
Nope!
Why do people do tests on lower resolutions and not low gfx settings?
this or XPS 13 9380? Any thought?
, thanks
Possibly dumb question but if I swap out the M.2 do I have to buy another copy of Windows?
Nope!
Make a review on the new MSI GE75 with the 144hz bezel 17" inch laptop please
Why would you compare the 2 laptops with 2 different games?
Ahh... I got a question. Is it worth to buy it for school purpose ? This is my first year of my university.
I do not think so.
