  • Hello All! This is one of the best videos I've made in a while.
Let me know what you think!
I experimented with audio mixing to achieve some cool stereo effects for the first time, and I think it came out pretty well. PLEASE WEAR HEADPHONES! This video was made using headphones that have a wide frequency response and is made to be listened either through headphones or a sound system with a subwoofer. Please enjoy.

Beautiful video! Gorgeous fall colors, excellent shooting angles. I liked your inclusion of some natural elements like the placid creek, for times between trains. And I appreciated that you didn’t make me watch every single car go by! I don’t know why so many photogs set up their cameras and record every car of a long freight! I’ll be saving this video for a long time and watching it several times more. Thanks again for a very professional effort.

Thank you very much for your comment and your kind words!
I always wonder the same thing. People never watch the whole train anyways, and it always annoys me when creators leave the whole train in instead of cutting it out. I like to watch videos that I don't have to skip through!
I'm very glad you enjoyed my work.

Great job capturing some of nature, in addition to trains.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, your videos are superbly composed and shot. My Dad and I used to go chase trains on Stevens Pass, but Dad has has been gone now for a while and I haven’t been back for some time. You have inspired me!
One thing to please consider, the color of the font on your messages during the video being white are hard for me to read. If you could use a bit darker letters would make it easer to see, at least for my old man eyes. 🙂
    Thanks, John

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad I could bring you back to to those times! I have some great memories filming with my dad as well.
I noticed too that readability was an issue. I'll make sure it isn't an issue in my future videos. Thanks for letting me know!

@@West_Cascade_Rail How do you access the Bonneville Cut? On google maps I saw a few dirt roads leading to it but they were gated off.

are the tracks at 7:07 made up of concrete ballasts? never seen this before n its very interesting

Good question! The ties are made of concrete instead of wood because concrete ties withstand the harsh conditions of the mountains better than wood ties do. At least, that's my theory. But yes, the ties are concrete. The ballast, the stuff under the rails and the ties, is just rocks like you'd see on any other railroad. Thanks for the comment!

How long did it take to shoot, edit, and submit?

Good question! I shot this video in early October of 2023, over the course of two days. I edited it on and off for about two months. It was one of my bigger projects for sure.
