  • Doug Rappoport knows tone. In this video he shows you how to achieve that "Texas Blues tone". Armed with his Strat loaded with Seymour Duncan Antiquity Strat Texas Hot pickup set, plugged into a Seymour Duncan Forza overdrive, Killing Floor High Gain boost, and Vapor Trail delay all powered by the PowerStage 170 pedalboard power amp.

    This dude can get that sound with stock pups a blues jr and a ts808. He's just helping out the pedal makers. A good player is the #1 source of tone. Doug is a beast!!!

    Hello,
    Related to your video, and since I'm going to be installing a Texas Hot Antiquity set on my guitar soon,
    - I would like to know what is the value of your capacitor as well as the type (Orange Drop, PIO, NOS ceramic, etc ...)?
    - I would also like to know to which pickup have you assigned each of the 2 tone potentiometers ?
    Thank you in advance

    I need to replace an OEM neck pickup in my 94 strat as the 60 cycle hum is overbearing. does the Antiquity Strat Texas Hot pickup have the dreadful hum?

    • @seymourduncan
      @seymourduncan  7 років тому +1

      It is a single coil pickup, so it hums. You might look at the Classic Strat Stack or a Vintage Rails if you don't want hum at all.

    So...$779.97 CAD (before tax) for three pedals?!? Sorry. You could buy a new or used guitar for that much. Lots of competition out there for far less money and same sound.

    Hes a great guitarist and can wail, bit there is NOT and ounce of SRV tone in any of this video. Im not hating on him at all because hes great but not SRV tone..

      Agreed,SRV’s tone is a little more complex than second position and some drive.He’s a nice player with nice tone all the same.

      No I agree but I actually prefer this tone to SRV's

    What would be the best combination of strat pickups for a blues tone when driving an amp

    • @seymourduncan
      @seymourduncan  7 років тому +2

      I do love the Antiquity Texas Hots, but if you weren't playing Texas blues, and doing more of a Chicago thing, I love the Antiquity Surfer II, although those don't drive an amp as hard (they are cleaner, but full of 60s Stratty goodness).

    Such a good player 👌 But the killing floor pedal is such a shitty pedal for blues tone in my opinion. It always has to have another ordeal holding it up in some way. You can get a closer SRV sound, using these pickups and a EHX Soul Food OD straight into an amp.

  • @ironlife783
    @ironlife783 5 років тому +3

    Yea um not a texas blues tone at all..😂😂😂More like a Ibanez through a crunched plexi tone..

    • @christiansteyn912
      @christiansteyn912 5 років тому

      iron life yeah this tone is really good but its not that distant srv/dan patlansky/mayer tone. That sound like the guitar is coming from a million miles away and the players hands are hollow. If you know what I mean.
