I am legitimately concerned that this show got greenlit, especially because the characters are shown nude repeatedly… and are supposedly only 14… and engage in sexual behaviour…
I really like this manga, and im pretty sure I'll like the anime as well, but i really do wish they just simply aged them up. I don't feel like it would take anything away from it.
Edit: From what i understand, the author is trying to fit literally every "magcal girl" genre trope as possible.

theyre also probably NOT going to adapt Alice/Korisu's Solo chapter when it comes to it so although E1 and E2 are out, the only remaining episode worth of plot relevant material thats going to be particularly perverted is the second episode of the Enormeeta Civil War (which should be E5), where Utena makes Nemo and Matama fuck for her enjoyment and to make them realize that their reasons for joining Enormeeta in the first place was that the two girls actually love eachother.

Magical Girl Holy Shit does NOT translate to anime. the pacing slows way the fuck down once that story starts hitting its stride and theres really no natural endpoint to when you cut season 1.
like, there is maybe 8 episodes of material before the GODWAR arc and subsequent Sins of the Father arc, but each of those arcs would easily fill out 12+ episodes of content.
That isnt to say i dont like Kayo and Nako, but its a series that fundamentally cannot get a good anime.

you know the funny part is, when i just got the name and some out of context images that didnt show much, i legit thought it was like ''oh, is this some mahou shoujo comedy with a protagonist thats like super weab for mahou shoujo?'' and then i was kinda right except that was not even half of the full picture...

This series works much better in TV format for everyone involved, especially once the story kicks in.

@@unkindled6410 Often the ecchi is used to lure people into reading/watching the story as a hook, and then they keep reading/watching as the focus shifts to the more serious aspects. It happens here, it happened in Immoral Guild, and I'm sure many others. So for the studio to go this far I take it as a sign they're big fans of the IP and want to go the extra mile when adapting it.
But to answer your question directly, sort of. If the ecchi is the main point of everything, it's often best for the studios to only teeter the line in order to make sure they can still air it on TV for the money. If they only release on DVD/Blu-Ray the risk is very high and they have to keep the budget to a minimum.

im pretty sure the only one dissilusioned would be Utena herself by Vena, because im pretty sure its supposed to be implied she only really grew that kink because of the power he gave her. the damn gremlins name literally translates to ''corruption'', there was nothing on Utena that implied she was a closet pervert or anything, she was just a weab and a bit of a lonely one (not because of being weab, just being introverted overall) and its just that she very soon is unable to get out the hole she got herself into, and by the time she would be, shes already liking her stay there, because again, Vena pulled the strings to make her into a perv, but her admiration for mahou shoujo is so great she still doesnt want to defeat them or to just make them her slaves, thats the one part of her heart thats still ''pure'' lets say.

I watched this show because of all the hype and drama that it caused on social media.
I found it to pay VERY close attention to nuanced detail, such as Utena's "blink and you miss it" reaction in the first scene to Tres Magia getting hurt. While some of the hijinks are over the top, the manipulation, blackmail, and gaslighting of the MC into villainy is actually quite believable, especially if you have seen some of those things first hand, particularly the behaviors of an addict and their drug dealer.
All in all I enjoyed it, if for no other reason that because of the "professional jealousy" of western entertainment script writers who can't create a good story and envy someone do does it better than they can.

The first episode is the most tame.
Hentai is just amateur manga, or manga that's too explicit to put on TV or openly advertise. But I get it, it's not really hentai, and they're going more towards less censorship like in the past before 2013 when the big boom with Attack on Titan and popularization of Anime in western audiences happened. The Sacred Blacksmith, or Seiken no Blacksmith had nipples on full display, and they also poked fun at her for having a generous chest size for a LOT of the show back in 2009, and don't forget devil man in any capacity, or freezing, or sekirei, or the ungodly anime "kiss x sis".
Another piece is that Fate/______ could have died on release because it had Ecchi, perverted, or pornographic material heavily intertwined with the plot, technically the servants get their mana by mixing their bodily fluids with their master, and sex was the best way to do it. It gets overlooked entirely for the entire series, but it still has points where you can say that there is space to add those scenes, but they just didn't instead, and the result is a more teen/kid friendly version that adults can also watch and enjoy.
"Gushing over magical girls" could be put into the same category, however they decided to not censor the series, as it would require major reworks to the story, but you could censor and remove 99% of the lewd scenes, and you'd still have a decent story where Utena (Magia Baser) finds enjoyment out of bullying the magical girls and seeing them expend and burn themselves out. Then you would change the kinky objects with a more conservative outfit, and objects, and recontextualize the scenes. However, it would go by without anybody knowing it existed, as just as any other magical girl show. Instead, they chose horny adult males, with kinky fetishes as their audience, and it seems to be doing well considering the uproar and consistent content output, as well as it creating controversy and capitalizing on it for a larger audience and awareness.
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie: this show is capital W WEIRD. I found it by chance on [my anime-pirate site of choice] and figured I could use a bit of cutesy shit...
.. it's like a damn traffic accident happening right in front of me. I'm both disgusted by some of the stuff it's showing but also morbidly curious. I dont wanna see it but I cant look away!

However, expression these characters make is so funny. That is reason I like this anime so much. I don’t fap to it. I laugh out of how ridiculous some character behaves. For example, Kiwi being over dramatic and protective on Utena
I opted for the manga instead and don't regret it one bit. I mean, if PMMM isn't being criticized for pretty visceral depictions of brutality, why would this show get any flak for replacing blood and gore with a fetish or two?

ya once this story starts hitting its stride it gets really good. Its one of the few Magical Girl stories that runs with the Evil Mascot trope and i cant tell between who of the Incubators, the Mika of Magical Girl Holy Shit, or the Mascots of Gushing Over Magical Girls are the most evil. Obviously the incubators are fucking evil for what they do, but Venalita does the same thing with Utena except that Utrena can come back from pokemon-evolving from a succubus into a Lilitu except UNLIKE the witches, Utena's Lilitu form can infect other magical girls with The Horny, and the Mika of MGHS are straight up abusing and manipulating the protagonists

Now say that without crying so much, jesus. This manga has really good character development and in the later arcs some really emotional and epic moments outside of the echi (yes, really). SO you know, even with so many people trying to shit on it and Twitter turds doing their usual outrage, this show will most likely do pretty well. Also it looks good on the animation, most of us fans are really happy.
