I have the 2018 Golf R, without the navigation due to it has the better and cheaper CarPlay/AA. But it’s too bad you won’t be able to put the navigation from CarPlay/AA in the instrument cluster like the OEM navigation :(
I’ve heard that the limitation was imposed by Apple, but starting with iOS 12, you will be able to put your iPhone navigation apps on the CarPlay screen. Apps such as the venerated Waze GPS!
Hi, my display used to show the compass in the center like seen at 0:28 but now it just displays the satnav map all the time, does anyone know how to switch back to compass view?
Robert LeBlanc Even the 2018 GTIs were slow to the market and they are from MX. The R coming from Europe is worth the wait though, that new warranty is a plus.
It is released now. Start calling your local dealers if you want one. They are being picked off the market very quickly before they even arrive at Dealers.

I love the space of my Tiguan r-line I wish they would come out with a sportier version with the golf r engineer and have it a sports upgrade for a line on most of their vehicles
I need it to trickle down a bit further into the GTI because the Golf R isn't cheap. Also, why is it that Europe and Canada can equip a GTI with the "Digital Cockpit" but not in USA?

Is the screen resolution on the digital cockpit about the same as on the screen in the center stack? Can anyone notice a difference?
Looks super nice.. my only quibble is no moonroof option. It's available in Europe so maybe it's a marketing decision?

I didn't realize this. I've had the chance to drive one here in good ole Canada, pretty sweet car. However, it sadly still ditches the moonroof.

Does the cockpit show Google Maps navigation or only displays the VW Maps?
Only VW, unless you're using CarPlay or Android Auto
Although there is no digital dash (upfront), I love my tesla model 3's center console
